A bright and sunny sky over a three mile beach with small crashing waves against the shore, looked like a normal day with many families either in the water or playing nearby in the sand.

The sand begins to shake and slowly everyone on the beach begins to sink into the ground.

Everyone begins to freak out but nobody successfully leaves the sand after it begins to slowly bring everyone down.

Some small children are the first to be fully enveloped by the sand leaving nothing that would show they were ever there.

After only a few minutes the beach was devoid of any human touch. It looked pristine and beautiful a lure to bring in any unsuspecting individuals.

This phenomenon was never truly discovered by the populace. Every once and a while when it happened rumors of a large cannibal group emerged, but there was no evidence to support it always falling into obscurity.

A man and woman are at computers side by side searching the web and printing anything they can find about the disappearances and supposed cannibals connected to them.

These two were a couple and worked as detectives for hire and many had employed them to look at the extreme amount of disappearances that happened every three years.

The wall opposite their computers was filled with pictures and papers trying to find anything that connects all the people who disappeared, and it always led to a beach and rumors of a giant cannibal tribe.

The husband and wife, named Char and Ash, decided to check out the beach in person to try and find any new clues. It had been almost three years since the most recent disappearances, and they believed they needed to be at the beach to see what really happens.

A flight and a bus later led the two to a serene beach with a few individual groups spread out on a beautiful beach serene in the moonlight.

The two get permission to place some cameras around with signs telling beach goers that certain areas are being recorded.

A week with no signs and nothing suspicious lowered their guard a bit, and the couple decided to take one day to relax and decided to just occasionally review the footage throughout the day and make sure tommorow.

They both got into their swimwear and had a wonderful time at the beach, but the ground began to shake around four in the afternoon, and everyone and everything at the beach found themselves slowly being sinking bring absorbed into the ground.

The couple struggle with all their might, but they find themselves unable to free themselves. Others on the beach also fail and screams are heard all along the beach but to no avail.

The couple simply hold hands and get completely absorbed another victim of the sand.

Infinite coldness and darkness is all those absorbed by the sand see and feel. Their minds unable to do anything but exist.

Eventually flashes of light and heat assault their senses, and the couple finds themselves still holding hands, but the place they are standing is no longer the beach.

All around them they see darkness and quick movements barely noticeable within. High in the sky has the only dim light source that seems to be an extremely dim blue light from a tiny dwarf star.

Screeches from the distance scares the couple and they simply hold each other frozen in disbelief and shock of everything that occurred.

Had they died? Is this hell? Are they dreaming? None of these thoughts truly mattered as many creatures hidden in the dark seemed to be stalking them.

How will this couple fare on this new world or plane of existence? How would they even survive their initial encounter with the beings in the dark?
