‘What happened to two legs?’ The wolf stopped wagging its tail and slightly tilted its head. “I can’t remember that man’s face. I just saw it, but it feels like it was taken from me.” Raphael held his head with one hand and winced at the slight pain.
‘Does that mean we were not supposed to remember then?’ The wolf got closer to Raphael to lick his head to somehow ease the pain in his own way. “I suppose so, but he felt familiar.” Raphael lifted his hand to pet the bridge of the wolf’s snout. It was as if they were kindred spirits that had finally come back to one another after a very long time. As if the battle that had just ended was some sort of greeting that added to their bond.
“You know, now that I realize I never saw any of your life, just the one memory, and the witness. What about you….wait what should I call you?” Raphael asked worried that he was being rude, even though events had far surpassed such pleasantries. ‘Well, first I only saw the memories you spoke of. And for the second question, I do not have a name. There was never a need for one.’ the wolf nonchalantly spoke as if his presence alone was enough to be remembered.
“Well I guess, if it is ok with you, would you like a name?” Raphael continued petting the black mane of the wolf as its purple eyes shone with interest. ‘Yes.’
“Well to get a good name that suits you, we should know what your preferences are.” Raphael’s eyes went big in anticipation as to what the wolf would say he favored.

‘Food. Lots of food. And its smell of blood. That is the best.’ The wolf grinned at his own response like a king on his throne. Raphael could only look to the side in disappointment, forgetting that the creature in front of him was no childlike his siblings, but a predatory being that as far as he knew preferred to toy around with his food.
“What else do you like?” Raphael asked while gulping and praying it wasn’t more obtuse in nature, but the wolf’s answer caught him off guard. ‘Fire.’
“What?” Raphael asked with great confusion. ‘My fire. It is my most precious and beautiful thing.’ Raphael looked at the calm demeanor of the lustrous purple eyes that shone beautifully with the darkness of the night as if complemented each other.
Raphael's mind easily came to one conclusion, it was as if he had known that this day would come or something along those lines. However, he already had a name in mind that would be wasted on anyone else other than the majestic wolf in front of him.
“Infernus.” Raphael's mouth moved on its own without even realizing it. ‘What did you say?’ The wolf eyed the two legs with a look of curiosity. “Your name. I mean your name if you want it to be.” Raphael looked nervously as if he had done something wrong.
‘What does it mean?’ Raphael looked at the complacent wolf waiting for a response. “I am not sure. When I came upon the word in a book I thought it was something along the lines of...right. It means fire of something, and that is why I thought it fit you perfectly.” A smile grew on Raphael's face as he said that.
‘Then I will use that as my own then. What is your name for two legs?’ The wolf grinned at finally having a name that fit him. “Raphael.”
‘It is nice to meet you Raphael.’ the wolf let out a small growl as if trying to pronounce the name. “And it is a pleasure to have met you, Infernus.” The two kindred spirits smiled at finally grounding their relationship by knowing their names.
