Breakfast Part 1

Breakfast Part 1

Raphael sat comfortably between two of his closest siblings, as they called each other. On his left was a girl a year younger than himself with brown hair that fell down to her shoulders. A warm aura surrounded her which greatly complemented the childish smile she wore. She ate unabashedly as even crumbs of the bread that she stuffed in her mouth clung onto her chin. Raphael stretched his hand with a napkin to clean off the food that found residence on her face. She continued eating without fail as if being cleaned by someone else was the norm.

"Cha..nk chyoo." Ana managed to say as the chunks of bread and potato soup filled her mouth. Raphael only nodded his head softly at the ritual that happened during every meal. Then he turned to his right to the younger boy that was the complete opposite of the girl. In comparison to Raphael, who was around 149 cm tall, the boy was half that height. His head was barely visible as he sat down on the chair that was large enough to easily fit three of him with ease.

However, unlike the childish Ana, Thomas was mature beyond years that put the boy with memories of a past life to shame. Raphael always pondered if Thomas was similar to him in that respect but he put that to rest once he revealed that he was too emotionally immature to be an adult pretending to be a child. But, he always let out a chuckle when he saw the polar differences of the children he sat next to.

Ana with her gluttonous appetite and the advanced level of etiquette that would make nobles green with envy that Thomas easily displayed at every meal. "Ana." His sweet voice echoed throughout the table, as he put his hands together and had one eye closed and the other stared in contempt of Ana's action. "Rhiight." She muttered through what seemed to be a chicken leg with the bone sticking out.

With the children being orphans, prayer was a necessary requirement that all children needed to know as they lived under the roof of the church of Inmari, the god harvest, and prosperity. A prayer at each meal shows the devotion of the follower of the church is both sincere and a devout believer. What Ana just did was against the beliefs and regulations, however, since she is young she is given a pass as long as Thomas isn't around and he always is. Being much younger and yet showing promise of being a devout follower, the caregivers in the church praise him every opportunity they get.

Thomas would very eagerly accept with a red face, which was a testament to his shy personality that was well hidden beneath his maturity. Now he was leading the prayer at the table that sat all of their roommates. As each room of children ate, played, and learned together to build bonds akin to that of a family. Each room held enough space for ten children and as of right now all of them were present.

At the two ends of the table were Christopher and Kasandra, the other second and third eldest of the group respectively. To the left of Ana was the timid Samuel that shadowed Ana the entire day as he carried the small blue blanket that he was wrapped in when he was dropped at the doorstep of the church. Then there were the young twins Agatha and Aria, with contrasting personalities that made it easy to distinguish each of them apart. Finally, Mark and Nevan sat at the right of Christopher, who had formed their own clique within the group.

They all had their own separate conversations as the sounds of the morning bird calls filled the room, giving it an even more colorful venue of sounds. The array of smells filled the noses and stomachs of the children as they happily ate with fervor until not a speck of food was left on their plates.
