Inferno Part 1

Inferno Part 1

As the water bullet raced towards its target, the wolf opened its maw in response to the upcoming attack with no hesitation in its gleaming purple eyes. The way they shimmered showed that he had anticipated the attack even before it had manifested. Purple light began to collect at the center of its open maw, growing ever brighter with each passing moment, and what seemed but an instant, a ball of purple flames was born.

'What the hell?' Raphael was left speechless as he saw the beautiful yet dangerous blaze scatter the water bullet into a mist that evaporated instantly. However, the ball of purple fire continued even after it destroyed the water bullet, and right where Raphael stood with awe and mouth agape. Upon realizing his current predicament, Raphael drenched himself in water from the surrounding mist and jumped out of the way with as much force as he could. The idea only came to mind when his short life flashed before his eyes and he remembered an incident when a kitchen fire spread and he was able to put it out.

He closed his eyes in fear that his attempt to escape was not nearly enough to prevent severe injuries or even death. However as the dreadful seconds ticked by, he opened his quivering eyes to see that the place he was standing moments earlier was scorched black and that the vibrant purple of the flames took hold of the surroundings. The vicious flames hungrily ate at the wood of the barn and the dry hay that stood upon in stacks.

The fire began to stain all colors in the world, leaving only violet flames and grey smoke as the palette that decorated the world. Raphael began to feel the intensity of the flames as their gluttonous hunger reached out for his flesh and bones. His eyes squinted as smoke and ash entered them, limiting his sight to blurs that grew more indistinguishable over time.

However, there was one constant that never changed no matter how much smoke hindered his eyesight. The midnight coat of the wolf was no more and was instead replaced by a fiery purple that grew undisturbed as it all consumed, like the wild kin that surrounded the entire barn in itself. Even as Raphael's heart was thumping at the understanding that his life would be forfeited if he did move a muscle. However, he could overcome being mesmerized by the swaying of the violet flames as they danced at the rhythm of his heartbeat. Or was his beating at the same rhythm of the flames.

Raphael did not know nor did he care, all that he wanted was to continue this incredible dance and song the world presented him with. At this moment Raphael wasn't just himself anymore, nor were the flames just flames. At this moment they were one and the same.

The wolf could also sense that there was a change in the human boy. No pup? The wolf became both flustered and confused as he thought that the child before him was o longer human, and the flames that covered its body began to react in response to this as well.

The splendid dance they evoked was no more, the brilliant purple flames were now cold and lacking the life they once possessed. "Ahhhh!" Raphael screamed at the same moment that the flames erupted and overflowed in every direction, consuming everything indiscriminately and without fail. The world had finally become one.

A purple inferno.
