Chapter 10 - Unwanted visitors

(... Are you sure this is the place?)

Prime asked, uncertain. After the previous conversation between Prime and Sara, both headed to the location where Sara would spend the next week. As Sara explained, she had already paid a week's rent in advance, and the money she had managed to gather was intended for the upcoming week.

The dilemma was that the apartment where Sara would stay seemed more like a haunted house. Prime really wondered if anyone would live in a place like that.

"Please, give me a break. I'm an orphan, okay? This was the only cheap place I could find"

As Sara uttered these words, she let out a brief sigh before heading towards the entrance of the modest apartment. As she entered, her eyes scanned the surroundings. The faded walls and overall neglected appearance suggested that the place hadn't received care in years. Certainly, it matched the price paid.

(I don't think it's very cozy to live here... But I guess it's better than nothing. Let's move forward)

Prime said upon hearing Sara's words, Sara continued walking. Upon reaching the stairs, she started climbing until she reached the top floor of the building, where she would reside from now on, or at least until she found a better place.

With her hand in the pocket of her coat, Sara took out a key and used it to unlock the door. Upon entering, her gaze carefully examined the space. In the center, a small chair and a table were set up, just enough for meals.

The kitchen was compact, and next to it, there was a door that, when opened by Sara, revealed the small bathroom. Additionally, another door in the room led to the bedroom, where a bed, though not large, offered enough space for one person to sleep comfortably.

Upon returning to the living room, which also served as the kitchen and bathroom, Sara headed to the window opposite the dining table. Opening it, she put her face outside, watching people go back and forth. A small smile appeared on her lips, bringing a sense of peace.

"You know, I have no idea what it's like to have a family, but I have the feeling that having a father would be something like this"

Sara said, laughing. Upon hearing these words, Prime also laughed, reflecting on what Sara had said.

(Although I don't remember much, I'm pretty sure I'm not old enough to be your father)

Prime said, smiling. Upon hearing these words, a smile lit up Sara's face as her eyes turned to a couple walking hand in hand down the street.

"Yes, I believe you fit a different description better"

Sara said. Upon hearing Sara's words, Prime simply smiled, choosing not to say anything. It was quite evident whom Sara was referring to, but of course, this did not take into account the fact that in this case, Sara would be dating an alien goo.

After this brief exchange of words between them, Sara began to prepare some coffee. Meanwhile, Prime, who was inside Sara, continued to consider what else he could do. Prime was not naive enough to believe that men would not come after him again.

Although it is peculiar for Prime to consider himself in this way, it is possible that he belonged to an extraordinarily valuable species throughout the universe, perhaps even unique. If Prime were on the side of scientists, they certainly would not allow a specimen like him to escape. Unfortunately, this time, Prime was on the other side of the situation.

Currently, what Prime knew was that somehow, by being together, Sara could display superhuman physical strength. The limit of this physical strength is not yet known, but it is probably enough to lift a car or even more.

Unfortunately, this probably doesn't mean that Sara should also be bulletproof if they both found themselves in a situation where escaping was impossible. Prime should think of a way to protect Sara in those situations.

(Yes... something like armor)

Prime's thoughts didn't go unnoticed by Sara.

"Huh? Did you say something?"

Upon hearing those words, Prime momentarily pushed that thought out of his mind.

(It's nothing, I was just trying to figure out if I could do something else)

Upon hearing those words, Sara just shrugged and went back to what she was doing. Prime, on the other hand, let out a mental sigh, pondering how strange the situation could still become.

"Knock, knock"

While both were immersed in their own thoughts, a knock on the door echoed, capturing Sara and Prime's attention. Sara found it a bit strange since she wasn't expecting any visitors; in fact, she didn't really have friends who could show up for a visit.

Prime, on the other hand, was feeling extremely uneasy. It was as if something was warning him not to open the door. Prime didn't know exactly why he was feeling this way, but he decided to trust his instincts.

(Sara, don't open the door)

Upon hearing Prime's words, Sara raised an eyebrow in doubt, thinking it might be the landlady.

"What? Why?"

Hearing Sara's question, Prime quickly began to think of an excuse. To be honest, there wasn't a clear reason, but it would also be strange to just say it was because his instincts were warning him.

(Does it really matter? Look, I know we haven't known each other for long, but trust me, we need to get out of here, at least for now)

Upon hearing Prime's insistence, Sara felt scared as his voice sounded urgent, as if something was about to happen. In the end, Sara decided to trust Prime.

"But where can we go?"

Sara asked, looking around the place. The door was out of the question since the danger Prime felt was on the other side. To make matters worse, the place didn't offer any other exits.

(Jump out the window)

As soon as she heard Prime's words, Sara's body moved instinctively, at the same time as she heard the sound of the door being forced open.
