No more pain.
I shook my head. My senses were overwhelming me.
Fighting in the distance. Three heartbeats close. One is fast and the others slow. One was getting slower. I could smell blood and arousal.
Gunfire.
I turned my head and saw my packmate. A few feet away was my mate, but it wasn’t. My mate didn’t have fangs and red eyes.
The red eyes locked onto my packmate.
Danger.
I moved. My mate crashed into me. I stood there looking down at her. She smelled like blood and the dead.
She didn’t fight. She bared her teeth at me and ran away.
I turned to check on my friend. He was not injured. He stared at me for a long time.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
The dying woman made a sound and my friend went to her. She spoke to him and pointed at the other woman on the ground. Then her heart stopped.
My friend looked at me and tried to say something, but I didn’t speak human.
I heard my alpha calling me. I ran.
I could smell blood and death. It was not the same smell as my mate, but I knew it was the same kind of creature. I could also smell another like me and my alpha. He was wounded and afraid.
I reached them in a field as the dead creature and the other wolf both attacked my alpha. He was strong, but holding back.
I grabbed the dead thing and threw it into a tree. It broke the tree but got back up and came for me. It was fast.
I could sense power flowing into me from my alpha. It was like a big river of strength and speed was coming from him into me. I could also sense a drip coming from the other wolf. It was like someone had built a damn in front of his power to stop it from reaching me.
“Kill the dead one. The wolf will only come back stronger if you kill him,” my alpha ordered.
I moved toward the dead thing. I was faster than him. I grabbed him by the neck and I was going to tear it off, but the other wolf jumped on my back and bit into my shoulder.
I reached behind me and grabbed the wolf and threw him into the dead thing. My alpha was injured and he wasn’t healing like I knew he should.
Before the two could get up, I ran to them. I grabbed the wolf and ripped his arm off. His blood hit my face as he yelped from the pain.
The dead thing came at me and I hit him in the face with the arm. His neck snapped as his head flew backward.
I smelled her before I saw her. The blood of the dead woman and death. My mate stood in front of me, protecting the wolf and the dead thing.
“Kill her,” my alpha ordered.
I hesitated.
“KILL HER!” he shouted in my head.
As I moved, she dropped something. The last thing I saw before I was blinded, was my mate grabbing both of my enemies and running away.
