[As a named follower, Noodle receives the [Lord’s Chosen] title]
“Excellent!” Alex shouts “[Noodle]! With the [Lord’s Chosen] title you can command troops and summon your companions! Henceforth you shall be known as... COMMANDER NOODLE!” he stands there giggling to himself.
He’s gotta find some way to amuse himself, right?
Whilst he was laughing away like a crazy person, [Bael] and his small troop returned.
[Skeleton Soldier] x20, [Skeleton Archer] x10, [Bone Mimic] x20 all led by [Bael] returned to camp with their spoils of war.
As he returned, [Bael] presented himself before Alex and saluted like a general would his king.
The [Skeleton Soldier] and [Skeleton Archer] followed suit and did the same. The [Bone Mimic] not so much.
Each [Bone Mimic] had a full storage of wolf corpses and various other materials from the forest, they had been ordered to go over to a clear area and empty their storage.
[Bael] also returned with some loot. It seems that he had killed some higher-tier monsters in the forest and these are the spoils. Among them were many strange crystals, some kind of brightly glowing orbs, and a bunch of books.
It wasn’t until he inspected them individually that their information had come up.
He picked up one of the crystals, it was about 2 inches long, smoky gray in color with jagged edges leading to a sharp point on its top. Looking deeper at this crystal, the inside seemed to shimmer slightly, as if there was something trapped inside.
[Small Crystal of Darkness (Common)] x10
[Construction or Evolution material]
[Evolutions with this crystal inherit the Darkness trait]
There was also a brown crystal of the same length [Small Crystal of Wood (Common)] x10 and a white one that matched the others [Small Crystal of Wind (Common)] x10 both of which had the same information.
If he could, there would be a smile on his face from ear to ear. The reason is that his 10x multiplier also worked when his followers killed and looted things.
Next, he checked out the glowing orb... The orb was about the size of a fist, perfectly rounded much like the crystal balls you would find from a fortune teller. Inside this ball, however, was a bright light that seemed to contain many mysteries. As Alex gazed deeper and deeper into the bright light, he seemed to see an untold number of possibilities.
[Skill Orb (Super Rare)]
[This orb will grant the user a skill of their choosing based on the user's race]
“Holy shit, that’s a jackpot”
A skill orb is an extremely lucky drop to get and can be a game changer if the one using the orb knows what they are doing.
Most people would be lucky to find one of these orbs in a lifetime, and thanks to the [Give me More] trait that Alex has, he acquired 10 of them.
He was going over all the options in his head of what could be done with this ridiculous opportunity, he was so lost in his own head thinking he completely forgot about [Bael] who was still standing there holding on to the remainder of the loot he had.
*Rattle?*
Snapping out of his trance, he locked back towards [Bael] who was patiently(?) waiting there for him.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“Ah, right, right, yes... Sorry,” he apologized as he reached forward and grabbed a book. It was a rather slim book, bound in a rough and broken leather with tattered yellow pages in between.
[Skill Book]
[Contains the skill: Berserk]
[Berserk]
[Activate a state of frenzy for 30 seconds. While in a berserk state, all stats are tripled. After the berserk state finishes you will be weakened for 1 minute reducing stats to 50% - cooldown 5 minutes]
All of the books contained the same skill, there were 20 books in total of [Berserk].
Alex took all of the books into his inventory bar one. This one he gave to [Bael] to learn. Imagining a [Bael] with triple the stats made Alex’s bones rattle in excitement.
He made his way over to where his [Bone Mimic] had released their entire storage and beheld an impressive sight.
All piled up in a gruesome mountain of death were the bodies of the forest wolves. This was the first time since moving to this world he was happy that he had lost his perfectly chiseled nose.
It looked like his earlier thoughts had been answered, and each dead body only took up 1 space of storage judging from the amount of carcasses he saw in front of him right now. There should be 4000 corpses all stacked up.
He made his way over to the first wolf and placed his hand down on its mangy and matted fur, as he did so, the wolf turned into a stream of light and faded away.
[Gained 10 bones] x10
[Gained 10 meat] x10
[Gained 2 Wolf Teeth] x10
[Gained 1 wolf pelt] x10
The first one he looted gave him all the information he needed for what he could expect. That’s when he rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
Hours upon hours had passed of looting the wolves, and he had barely made a dent in this fleshy mountain. This entire time [Bael] had been fulfilling the duty of a guard and patrolling the territory, [Noodle] on the other hand was just lazily sleeping under the ground, just with his head above the surface.
In the end, it took Alex nearly an entire day to work through these. This was a problem he would have to look into solving at a later date, but for now, he doesn’t plan on gaining another 4,000 corpses. He should have plenty of materials needed.
His gains in total from the forest excursion are:
[Bones] x400,000
[Meat] x400,000
[Wolf Teeth] x80,000
[Wolf Pelt] x40,000
Needless to say, he was very pleased by these numbers. This would be a massive benefit to his territory as he planned to make a bunch of upgrades.
Before making those upgrades, it was time to use the world chat and marketplace features for the first time.
When he opened up the marketplace, he made a search for meat...
[Selling 5 meat 500 gold each]
[Selling meat 1000 gold]
[S> meat offer]
“There’s no way meat can be that expensive.” he opened up the world chat to ask.
When he opened up the world chat he was assaulted with message after message. It seemed that he had walked in on an argument of some kind and they were spewing insults back and forth at each other.
[Elara Shadowcaster: Eat a bag of dicks!]
[Varis The Wanderer: You want a bag of dicks honey, me and my friends have plenty for ya!]
[Lyric Nightshade: How much for a bag of dicks? I’m so hungry I’ll eat anything at this point...]
“What the hell have I walked into?”
It was a complete waste of time to even try talking to those kinds of people. He would have to work this out on his own.
With the world chat still open, he went to the marketplace and put up an offer. He wanted to gauge the best selling point for meat, so he went with selling 10 meat for 10 gold each.
The moment he added this listing, it was sold almost immediately.
Next, he went with 10 meat for 20 gold each. Again, sold almost immediately.
[Lyric Nightshade: Who is selling the meat? I’ll buy it! I’ll buy everything for 40 gold each! Please!]
With this, Alex knew he was on the right track. The reason the meat was so expensive is that nobody was selling it, and someone wanted to make a huge profit.
Added another offer.
100 meat for 40 gold each. Instant sell.
100 meat for 100 gold each. It took a few moments, but it eventually sold. Now he had his baseline. People still bought it at 100 gold each due to starvation, but he couldn’t sell large amounts at that price.
He settled on a number in his mind and made his final offer.
He put up the remaining 399,780 pieces of meat for 60 gold each.
After doing this, the world chat went crazy, and the available meat was selling like crazy.
[Thorne Iron Fist: How does anyone get so much food?!]
[Seraphina Stormbringer: Who is it?]
[Lyric Nightshade: Adopt me Daddy!]
Aaaaaand with that Alex is done with the world chat. He can deal with the decaying corpses of thousands of wolves, but that is just gross.
