With nothing else to do for the time being, Alex spent a good few hours looking through the crafting menu at all the different things he could make.
There was actually a ridiculous amount of things available. There were buildings he could create that would give his territory bonuses such as the [Altar of Bone], [Necropolis], and the [Ritual Chamber].
[Altar of Bone]
[+50% stat bonus to all skeletal followers]
[+50% stat bonus to all bone weapons]
[+50% stat bonus to all bone buildings]
[All skeletal followers have a 20% chance to reform upon death]
[Ability to summon 5 random skeletal followers daily]
[Upgradable]
[Necropolis]
[+50% bonus to all undead followers]
[All undead followers have a 20% chance to rise again upon death]
[Ability to summon 5 random undead followers daily]
[Defensive building]
[Can store up to 50 undead followers that will reanimate when an enemy comes within range]
[Stored undead have a +50% stat bonus]
[Upgradable]
[Ritual Chamber]
[Can activate a ritual which will give certain boosts to your territory]
[Different rituals give different benefits]
[Upgradable]
There were defensive buildings he could create. The [Necropolis] was one, but there are also more direct defensive structures like the [Bone Tower] or [Wraith Tower]. These were defensive structures that could be placed along walls that would house [Skeleton Archer] or [Wraith] to attack approaching enemies at a distance.
Other tabs included general buildings such as [Blacksmith], [Stables], and [Apothecary] which were all pretty self-explanatory.
As Alex was scrolling through all these menus a notification popped up for him.
[Congratulations on surviving your first day, you have unlocked the following features; [World Chat] [Market Place] [PvP]]
[In 29 days you will face the ‘newbie trial’ where upon completion you will unlock more features]
[Good Luck!]
Having a world chat didn’t interest Alex too much. From all the stories he had read, he assumed it was going to be full of people either complaining, boasting, or trying to suck up to those who are stronger.
The marketplace was of big importance to him, soon when his Mimics returned he would gain plenty of meat, and whatever miscellaneous things they would drop, with nothing else to do with them being able to sell them in bulk would be great. And he could also use it to buy some of the materials he couldn’t get himself in order to create new followers.
The PvP section also interested him. He wasn’t sure how it would work, but usually with PvP comes lucrative rewards, and in this vast wasteland his territory was located, he had yet to find another player.
Tapping on the [PvP] tab gave him a couple of options. [Conquest], [Defense], or [War].
[The Lord’s death in non-permanent]
[Follower death is permanent]
[Points will be gained or lost depending on the outcome]
[points can be used in the [PvP shop]]
[Conquest]
[Your goal in Conquest is to assault the enemy territory]
[Win condition: Kill enemy lord or make him forfeit]
[Lose condition: Die or Forfeit]
[Defence]
[Defend your territory against assault]
[Win condition: Kill the entire invading army, kill the invading lord, or make them forfeit]
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
[Lose condition: Die or forfeit]
[War]
[Meet an enemy in open warfare in a randomized arena]
[Win condition: Defeat enemy army, kill enemy lord, make them forfeit]
[Lose condition: Die or forfeit]
This was great news for Alex. As a necromancer, the best place for him to be was on a battlefield surrounded by death. On top of this, his army will never tire, and they don’t fear death.
When his group returns from the forest, he will make preparations and try his hand in the PvP arena.
A new day means new followers, so he made his way to the summoning gate to activate it.
Inside the swirling vortex, 50 figures walked out.
[Zombie] x10
[Ghost] x10
[Skeletal Warrior] x10
[Skeletal Archer] x10
[Skeletal Mage] x5
[Wraith] x5
[Skeletal Mage]
[Skeletal Mage Life: 50]
[Skeletal Mage Damage: 10-20 (Elemental: Based on Weapon)]
[Skeletal Mage Defence: 5]
[Trait: [Equipment]]
[Equipment]
[Can equip and use items]
[Wraith]
[Wraith Life: 100]
[Wraith Damage: 10-30 (Spirit)]
[Wraith Defence: 0]
[Trait: [Incorporeal]]
[Skill: [Drain Life]]
[Incorporeal]
[With no physical body, only elemental and spiritual damage have an effect]
[Drain Life]
[Drains the life of your target dealing 100% damage. Enemies drained of all life have a 50% chance to return as [Ghost], [Wraith], or [Spectre] and follow the necromancer]
Alex was happy about his new additions. The first thing he did was to make some weapons for his [Skeletal Mage]. He decided to make each of them their own [Enchanted Bone Staff of Poison] using up 50 bones, leaving him with 5 extra staves for the future.
Having himself and 5 [Skeletal Mage] all use the skill [Poison Mist] would make the entire battlefield a poisonous wasteland where only his undead army could survive.
“Being undead really has its perks,” He mused.
Having the [Wraith] join his forces was amazing. Not only could these things not be killed by normal means, but with a 50% chance that anything they killed would also join his army making it even larger was a huge benefit.
Not only would the PvP arena be a great place for enjoyment but also give him rewards on top of that. Now he could also use it as his own personal recruitment center.
What would really seal the deal with this plan is getting his own [Lich] and [Vampire]. A [Lich] can directly raise the dead and a [Vampire] can create other Vampires.
Having a [Lich] can be offset by Alex himself unlocking the spell to directly raise the undead. Right now the only spell that he had was [Summon Undead Soldier Level 1].
Although this spell was good, it was limited to only raising the undead soldiers he already had access to in his crafting menu. Even if he was to come across a dragon he could only summon an undead soldier with no skills.
But if he had the ability to directly raise the undead, he could have them join his army while keeping all their skills and traits.
One day he may even be able to completely resurrect the dead. The benefits of this, providing they are loyal to him, are amazing. They could not only keep all their stats, skills, and traits, but they would also keep their personality, experiences, and memories.
Hopefully, the [PvP Shop] will have some nice skills for him to purchase, or maybe he could even find some skill books on the marketplace down the line.
Another hour had passed and Alex was getting bored waiting for [Bael] to return, knowing that even if he was to lose he wouldn’t die, he decided to gather his new little army up, leaving behind the [Ghost], and enter the PvP arena.
As a newbie at level 1, and with a level 1 territory he had assumed that he would be faced against someone the same level as himself, otherwise there would be no point in even unlocking PvP at such a low level.
[Before you are able to use the [World Chat], [Marketplace], or [PvP arena] please input your title]
Thinking for a moment, Alex filled out his title.
[Welcome to the PvP Arena [Lord of the Wastelands]. Please select your stage]

[Transporting to battlefield]
A bright light flashed as Alex and his group of 40 followers were transported somewhere new.
Looking around, Alex was in the middle of a desert, the sun was beating down on his... Bones.
The sand was all around him as far as the eye could see, but off in the distance, there was a small black dot. This was presumably his enemy for this battle.
He went to move the top of a sand dune to his left side but was unable to move.
[Battle will commence in 5 minutes]
