Chapter 153: Proposal and Leaving

"Indeed I did, however, It was never my intention to kill you in the first place!"

"heh, Is that so?"

Shaking his head, Lorien didn't want to continue this conversation with Gojo so he responded by changing the subject.

"Well, your strength isn't that bad, you shouldn't be that far from the [Law Leve], It's just a pity that this world and cursed energy are holding you back!"

A look of pity crossed Lorien's face as he continued.

"If you were in another world, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually reached this level at your age!"

'This world, another world, shackles, and cursed energy...'

Catching those keywords and ignoring most of what Lorien said, Gojo's mind raced to decipher their meaning, and when it finally did, he raised his head, locked eyes with Lorien, and asked.

"Are you implying that there's more than one world? And what shackles are you talking about? And what is this [Law Level] you keep mentioning?"

Hearing this question, Lorien knew he'd successfully baited Gojo and responded with a sly grin.

"I can neither confirm nor deny this."

However, even though this was far from a satisfactory answer, it still confirmed Gojo's suspicions, it's just that he still wanted more information.

So, even though he was aware that Lorien was likely baiting him, he asked anyway.

"And what about the shackles and the [Law Level] you mentioned?"

"Laws pertain to the rules governing a world and its functioning; The law level refers to pushing an ability to that conceptual, rule-like level and gaining authority over it."

"Similar to your ability?" Gojo inquired, narrowing his eyes.

"No, I'm not at that level yet as I haven't gained authority over said law, However, my ability can affect the laws of the world, so you could call me a pseudo-law level!"

With that, Lorien switched the subject again.

"Enough about that, this is too far away and it is impossible to reach this level in this world as you guys are shackled!"

"Aren't you having a bit too much fun?" Gojo asked, taken aback by Lorien's penchant for leaving him hanging.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Hahaha, sorry, sorry," Lorien grinned, though his face betrayed no hint of remorse.

"So, are you going to explain or not?"

"Oh, right. Where were we?"

"Shackles."

"Ah, yes, the shackles."

*Caugh*

Clearing his throat, Lorien organized his thoughts before continuing.

"Cursed energy itself is the shackle, not only for you but for everyone, Toji was the only one to break free from it, and he's the reason you were able to escape your fate and destiny of being linked to the star plasma vessel effectively allowing you to attain enlightenment!"

Pausing briefly to catch some air, Lorien went on.

"That was a bit off-topic, but my point is that while cursed energy bestows power, it also imposes limits."

As he spoke, he pointed a finger at Gojo.

"For example, despite the strength of your ability, it still relies on cursed energy, after all, it remains a cursed technique."

Saying this, Lorien halted again, gauging Gojo's reaction, before continuing.

"Truth be told, I could've easily ended this battle from the outset by prohibiting the use of cursed techniques, however, that would've been too boring."

Listening to Lorien's words and reflecting on his previous statements, Gojo responded with some ridicule.

"Boring? You just wanted to analyze my ability, however, I still wanted to ask about how the abilities in other worlds work, Mr. World Traveler?"

Hearing this nickname, Lorien was momentarily at a loss for words as he regarded Gojo.

'I really dislike talking with people who are too intelligent...though too dim-witted would be problematic as well, hmmm, It seems that moderation should be applied in all situations.'

Shaking his head, Lorien pushed these thoughts aside, ignored Gojo's ridicule, and answered.

"Typically, abilities are independent of energy, which merely serves as fuel; Such abilities have vast potential; However, for abilities that are based on energy, their potential is only as great as the energy itself!"

Upon hearing this, Gojo made a striking realization, his eyes narrowing.

'The ability is only as strong as the energy itself...'

However, unconcerned with Gojo's thoughts, Lorien carried on.

"Well, this is just my conjecture for now, and it's not verified yet so it could be wrong, however, I don't need to confirm it, as it's not my concern."

Shrugging, Lorien casually switched topics again, arriving at the main point he'd wanted to convey from the start.

"Well, you shouldn't worry about this anymore, after all, you haven't yet reached the end of this path."

"Haven't reached the end?"

"I'm not certain, but I believe so; Honestly, I think you still have room to grow; For instance, you could adapt your domain to be both a closed and open domain, similar to what Sukuna and the brain guy did!"

"Sukuna? Are you talking about Ryomen Sukuna? And who is the brain guy?"

"Well, let's forget about the last one; however, for your first question, Yes! that's the one; I think you should follow his example and create an open domain. Its sure-hit ability, combined with Purple, would be a nightmare to defend against."

As Lorien spoke, he glanced towards the forest, where a group led by the principal was approaching.

Upon noticing them, Lorien stood up, and the chair beneath him vanished.

"I should be on my way, I've already gotten what I wanted, It is time to leave."

Stretching, Lorien began to walk away, his form fading from existence with each step.

"You can take my recommendation, or just wait until we finish creating a new power system with a higher cap and greater potential, then, you could just switch over."

Lorien's final words lingered in the air as the group of sorcerers reached Gojo, who stood up and cheerfully greeted them as though nothing had happened.

"Heeeey, everyone!"

"Are you alright?"

"Hhahha, yes! That guy just wanted to fight, moreover, it seems that we don't have to worry much about him."

"I hope so.
