Chapter 103: Rescue

Moving fast, the group of four had to fight some zombies so they can make it to the garage where the humvee was.

But thankfully, this wasn't much of an issue as the garage wasn't that far away and there weren't many zombies blocking them.

Reaching their destination, Saya quickly spoke to the man who was there and asked him about its state.

Luckily for them, it appears that the vehicle was somehow able to withstand the EMP remaining completely operational.

Of course, this is mainly because it was Lorien who made it, so it is quite resilient.

If Lorien were to see this, he would probably act smug and say something along the lines of:

[Here at Lorien's Architectural, Industrial, and Automotive group, Our goal is to offer the best services and products there are! Customer satisfaction is our motto!]

[PS: We don't offer refunds!]

However, this small group of four didn't care about this at all as all they can think of now is running away from this place.

Jumping into the car, they quickly started it and began driving away at a great speed running over a bunch of zombies in the process.

*Swish*

Driving fast, it didn't take them long to get through the small drive and into the front yard where the fight was ongoing.

*Vrooom*

Passing by her parents who were still fighting, Saya's eyes were full of reluctance as she watched them get further and further away.

"PAPAA!!" Screamed Saya as the car finally made it out of the gate and into the streets before swiftly fading away into the distance.

Seeing this, Soichiro who had a stoic face finally heaved a sigh of relief as a small smile appeared on his face.

"Now I have nothing to worry about!"

*Swish*

But just then as he was about to return to combat, a bright light coming from the opposite side to where the car had just gone attracted the man's attention.

Looking up to the source, Soichiro and everyone else who looked there had their eyes shrink in fright as a sense of horror instantly enveloped them causing their hearts to sink.

"A missile!!!"

Everything happened so quickly no one had the time to react or think about the reason as to why the rocket was silent, after all, by the time they noticed it, it was already next to them.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

But then, just as they were waiting for the impact and the following explosion, something absurd happened.

The moment the missile impacted the earth, it actually disappeared as if it was never there, and in its place stood a young man with a floating chest next to him.

This sudden turn after turn of events caused everyone to fall into a daze even forgetting to shoot at the zombies who were still swarming toward them.

"Tsk, Is my entrance so shocking?"

Shaking his head, Lorien's lips tilted slightly as he waved his hand creating a barrier around all the survivors who were there, effectively saving them.

Then, he linked all the barriers pushing all the zombies away and putting everyone there in front of him.

*Cough*

Seeing that they were still in a daze, Lorien coughed lightly to wake them up and attract their attention which he succeded at.

The first to speak was Soichiro who moved to the front of the crowd with his wife and stood in front of him.

"You are..."

Standing in front of Lorien, Soichiro was still shocked by what had just happened.

First, the 'explosive' entrance, then, the barrier protecting them, moreover, Lorien's looks that were out of this world.

By out of this world it doesn't mean that Lorien is so handsome he affected Soichiro, by that it means that it is unusual.

Shining silver hair, and deep abyss-like golden eyes, even in this world with multicolored hair everywhere it is very rare or even none existent.

"Hi! my name is Lorien! I was just passing by and noticing your situation, I decided to save you!"

'Lorien...'

Hearing the name, sudden realization instantly hit Soichiro.

'Isn't this the name of one of the two supernatural beings that Saya and the others spoke about?'

'Why is he here...'

'Thankfully, it appears that he doesn't mean any harm, otherwise, there is nothing we can do...'

'But there must be a reason for his appearance, I don't believe that he was just passing by...'

Suppressing his thoughts, Soichiro quickly reacted and respond with a light bow

"Thank you for saving! Is there anything we can do to repay you?"

Seeing this reaction, Lorien's eyes flickered as he rolled his eyes inwardly

'Old fox...'

Soichiro's reaction was nearly transparent to Lorien, after all, the difference in strength is still there so it is impossible for Soichiro to hide his wariness from him.

But even if he knew this, Lorien didn't expose him as there was no need to.

"I have created a base! and I am looking for survivors to populate it, want to join?'

Hearing this, Soichiro paused for a moment as he looked at the barrier surrounding them.

'He isn't asking is he...'

'If I were to refuse he would probably just remove the barrier around us and even secretly help the zombies...'

'We don't have much of a choice, not to mention that it isn't a bad option in the first place!'

'From what I heard, the base they created has very complete faculties, an abundance of food, and there are no worries about security!'

Thinking of this, Soichiro didn't hesitate any longer as he gave off a defeated sigh and responded.

"We agree!"

Watching his reaction, Lorien could easily guess what he was thinking, so he rolled his eyes at him and said.

"You don't have to act like I am forcing you!

Frankly, the reason I am inviting you is that I need someone to manage the base for me.

You and your wife are perfect candidates, that's why I chose you!"

"Huh?"

"What?"

This time, Soichiro wasn't the only one to respond as even his wife couldn't help but let out an exclamation.

Of all the scenarios and reasons they thought of, this wasn't one of them.

"So! Settled now?"

"...Yes, But..."

"The other survivors who are close by, right? Don't worry, we'll be taking them with us!"

"Thank you..."

"You're welcome!"

Settling everything, Lorien then finally turned his head to the zombies that were still trying to impact the barrier.

"But first, let's deal with this!"
