20. Abusing rights to a new level

Chapter 20

We stood in front of a floating castle, waiting for a response. This was the guild base Silver Knights. A small guild composed of mostly humanoids and a few heteromorphs. But that wasn’t the main reason we were here. We were here to remove a potential threat.

After 8 years of hiding, the ‘item’ finally changed hands from a surprising result. We were simply here to collect it. One way or another.

Guild Member: Please! Don’t destroy our guild! We spent…we spent so much time and money on this place…you girls already have everything, don’t you?

Me: You know why we’re here, don’t you? Everyone knows by now what we do and what it means when we go on a guild raid.

Guild Member: No…! We died to get it!

Me: Your guild can live without it. We, on the other hand, can put it to good use.

Diana: Just a warning though. We’re going to get it one way or another. You can either surrender it peacefully or we’ll tear your guild down data to data until we find it.

A skeleton that surprisingly resembled Momonga showed up beside the guy we were talking to and said with a sigh.

Skeleton: *sigh* Alaf, they’re not going to listen. You know what they are capable of, don’t you? Let’s not destroy what we created with our own hands.

Alaf: But Shurshana…! It’s…it’s our first World Item!

Shurshana: We can grow strong even without it. See? Like The Di-Immortals guild which ranks in the top ten without a single World Item.

Alaf: Will you really leave us alone if we hand it over?

Diana: Of course. No reason for fighting if we achieve what we came here for.

After another sigh and a voice that sounded as if it was on the verge of crying, Alaf, the future God of Light handed over…Downfall of Castle and Country.

Me: Beautiful…so this is what it is.

Diana: We’ve removed the limiter on it…we were so worried when we couldn’t find it for a bit, but now…

Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.

Sis hugged the fabric as Alaf handed it over.

Diana: It’s home.

When father introduced this world item, there was no way we would not recognize it. This mind control item was probably our biggest chance of downfall if it entered the wrong hands. For example, if somebody mind-controlled one of our 5 elders, then the result would be disastrous. Yet, we also knew the potential if it fell into our hands…so be buffed up the ability.

It can control any number of people depending on your level (+1 for each 10 levels after 50) as well as support Job Classes such as Bard, Evangelist, or other such classes that rely on faith and command.

As we ‘gate’ed our way back to the base, we realized that now, we’ve eliminated every threat, or at least prepared for all of them. No matter where or when in the world we were dropped off, Society would survive no matter what. If it was not dropped in a middle of an apocalypse, we would have enough manpower to conquer the world. enough scientific knowledge to travel the space itself (remember, 4 thousand years of technology are in their inventories, and Tim, other engineers & 5 elders are going to fully understand it)

Diana: There’s still a problem though… the ‘plan’

Ah yes, the plan. The plan that would give us a big help in the long run, possibly speeding things up by thousands on years, but the problem was…

Me: Dad’s never going to allow both of us to get it…there is only 1 World Item at a time. World ending or not.

Only one of us would be able to get it. While anything else would be chewable with a glitch or loophole, this thing we had finally convinced dad to make was a ‘Unique World Item’. And devs don’t play around with that type of things.

Diana: What are we going to do then, hack it?

Me: Too risky. We’ve already used the system too much, they’ll know it’s us immediately. Besides, the codes for this is owned directly by the VP and not father.

Diana: *sigh* I wish it could just be a twenty or something…just use it and it appears right back in our inventory…

!!!

Me: SIS! YOU’RE A GENIUS!!!

The Unique World Item was never going to be a twenty, that would be downgrading it…yet, there was a method to arrive at the same ending. With that, I began explaining my plan.

The Next Day.

Issho: What? A new member of the Twenty?

Me: Dad~ The game’s getting older! People need to circulate the world items faster. Things need to speed up! Change, innovation, and challenges!!

Issho: Kara…you know you two are the reason why the World Items aren’t circulating in the worlds anymore. Last I heard you had what, 150?

Issho: *sigh* It’s more isn’t it?

Me: …yes…but, I just can’t give it to someone else! It’s a World Item!!

Issho: Very well, I guess introducing a member of the twenty is going to attract some final attention before we do doomsday protocal…by the way, why did you push back the plans for Ragnarok so far back? We missed our peak with that.

Me: I’ll explain if you let me do the coding for the item *pout*

Issho: You’re going to make it brokenly overpowered, aren’t you?

Me: It’s going to be a member of the twenty! It’s supposed to be super overpowered!

Issho: Last time you made the ‘Drums of the Orc King’ summon 5000 Orcs from level 20~40. Do you know how much the Devs had to suffer since newbies were using it to clean up some mid-level guilds?

Me: It was fun though…right?

Issho: *sigh* I guess you are right. Fine, I’ll let you and your sister code it. But don’t try and hide something in the codes again!

Me: But you can’t even find it anyway, how can you tell?

Issho: That might be true. I don’t know how you two have such a talent for it but use it for trolling people in a game. BUT! I can tell the truth just by looking at your face.

Me: Nope ~

Issho: Your face tells me you are hiding something…anyway, *pet* Tell me about why you pushed back Ragnarok. It was scheduled for this year but I’ve never seen you throw a tantrum like that in your life.

He picked me up, as if I was still a child, and put me on the couch where I slouched back and grabbed a stuffed fox and hugged it.

Me: This is a VR Game that is heavily influenced by Norse Mythology, is it not?

Issho: Well yes, and that is why this event was going to be so big.

Me: But Ragnarok is supposed to be the very last thing to happen. It’s the war that will end in destruction of almost all sides…if not, pretty close to it.

Issho: Yes, such an amazing blood bath is what the players want? Throwing all the World Threats we had for them!

Me: No *pout* People are tied of World Threats. Always the same gigantic animal coming from afar trying to kill everyone indiscriminately. It’s boring now.

Issho: Then what do you propose?

Me: Actually fit the Norse Mythology. Set the World against itself and hold many many events. Create hundreds of NPCs that will stand for each side…Gods, Human(oids), and Giants. As this is going to be an world ending game, give them the best things possible and break the limit barrier for the Enemy bosses. Make them stronger than anything.

Issho: Break it?

Me: Yes…break it! This is going to be a multi-month event. The longest and the biggest one in Yggdrasil history. To pull back some people back into the game in the last few months. A big final update and have a sale too. Use the death of Yggdrasil to jump start your next project…what was it?

Issho: The Roman mythology one we’re planning on now.

Me: Yeah, whatever that one is. Anyway, this is too good an opportunity to lose. I’m going to help plan every part of this. And, of course, the grand prize will the ‘that’. You know what we told you.

Issho: I do. fine, you do your thing. Even though everything good we release into the game makes its way to you or your sister, all of them were masterpieces I guess.

Me: *hugs* Thanks dad :)
