Chapter 7: Aegor

Chapter 7: Aegor

Aegor looked at the screen, pondering. He then pointed and asked. “What's with the numbers in the parenthesis?”

[That is the score of your shell. As an elemental you don't have many or any physical stats. Only when the shell is created will these stats appear. Also depending on the shape and form of the shell the stats will also change.]

Aegor nodded at that, clicking on the various titles and skills to see what they did.

Aegor knew he was a special elemental but didn't expect to be this special. He was currently a pure elemental but this says he could access any and all elements.

“Does this mean I’m royalty?” He asked mostly himself.

[No. Currently elementals have not progressed enough for them to have an idea of special individuals among them. They all think they are equal and no life is greater or lesser. Any and everyone can die no matter how special. All are equal beneath the primordials.]

Aegor nodded at that. From what he heard primordials were in control of everything.

[Host, would you like to see the details of your stats and other skills?]

“No need. I know what they do and represent.”

Aegor already knew what elemental affinity and manipulation was and the other terms are self-explanatory to those who played games and read novels 24/7 like him. The fact that it was at max level even when he was still a newborn said something about how powerful elementals really were.

After he finished going over everything, Aegor started plotting. He was currently too weak and that R.O.B., random omnipotent bastard, wouldn't offer anymore help after giving him boons.

He needed more information.

“System, can you give me any information on the enemy and the world?”

[Yes! As it is vital to your mission lord Cycle has given me all the information needed for you to succeed. If you wish for more system 001 will need to query the lord.]

“No need. Show it to me in a list format,” Aegor didn't want to have any interaction with the creator god.

[Roger!]

Confetti flashed across the screen as the list opened. Aegor didn't know what to think of the system other than its hyper and annoying. He didn't expect that the system he received would be like this.

No…considering that R.O.B. maybe he should have assumed it. Anyway he’s getting distracted.

Aegor quickly began to go through the list, skimming it at first before rereading it slowly. The currently active primordials, the kinds of elementals, how long the war has been raging, and the possible futures that were seen.

*creaaaak*

*booooooom*

*brrrrrrrr*

Aegor’s reading time was interrupted when he heard the creaking of wood, sounds of explosions, and the rumbling of earth.

[WARNING! A three way battle between elementals of wood, arcane, and earth detected. Host please retreat. This battle is too high level for you at the moment.]

Even without the system's warning Aegor would've made The same judgment. A giant orb of wood, earth and a purple ball of energy that was probably arcane were colliding a few kilometers away. The orbs were probably bigger up close because even from this distance they looked like blurry hills.

The 360° senses didn't just apply to sight but also hearing, smell and touch. Elementals can't taste anything though since they don't require anything other than their own element to survive. There didn't seem to be a limit to the senses just that it became less accurate the farther the distance.

The smell of bark and dry earth mixed with the scent of something similar to ozone but somewhat different. It was two against one. Earth and wood against arcane.

Roots and branches grew from the wooden ball and attempted to entangle the purple orb. The arcane elemental retaliated with blasts of arcane energy destroying them only for it to grow back.

Sharp spikes of earth pierced the arcane shell leaving an opening that was quickly covered again in arcane energy. The arcane ball crashed into the earth cracking it. It sent waves of arcane energy through the ground and captured the earthen sphere in several whips of arcane energy. This confinement didn't last long as wooden branches tore into the bindings.

The arcane elemental sensing it was futile fighting both at once began to flee.

The levels were all in the mid hundreds. This wasn't a battle he could get involved in. The arcane orb was rolling away trying to run but it was heading Aegor's way. They were closing in on him.

It was probably a coincidence that the arcane orb was running in his direction but Aegor couldn't help but think that R.O.B had something to do with it. He's getting distracted again. He needs to run.

[Host this way!]

There was a directional arrow on the screen and Aegor didn't hesitate to follow it. The rolling orbs were much faster than him so when the system directed him he followed. He went from left, down, right and down again to see a depression in the ground. It was a hole a few meters wide.

[Host hurry!]

The system urged. Aegor uneasily looked back to see the giant orbs the size of small mountains approaching swiftly only some hundred meters away. He lost any hesitation and jumped into the dark cave.

The rumbling above continued as the elementals continued their battle. Aegor felt that the arcane elemental passed him followed by the other two just minutes after he entered the hole.

Speaking of the hole, it was about a kilometer deep into the earth with tunnels in various places. It was also quite the robust cave system from what Aegor could see. It got blurry after three hundred meters or so. It was very dark with little to no light.

This didn't seem to affect Aegor much. He could see quite clearly which meant that elemental sights are immune to blinding light as well as complete darkness. He directly stared at the sun when he was born or made, he didn't know, and wasn't blinded.

Thus really drove home that he wasn't human anymore. Sure he knew it already when he woke up but this incident really dug it deep into him that he was no longer human. That his home was gone. That he was in a completely different world.

Aegor took some time to calm himself before addressing the system who had been sending concerned face emojis at him.

“System, how do I get stronger?”

It was silent and dark for the moment before a screen appeared in front of him lighting some of the area around him.

[You could battle other elementals for experience. This is risky and you could die but you would get levels.]

[You could practice your elemental skills. Imagination is your only limit and you could do anything as long as your elements allow you to.]

[Or create a method of your own method of growth. This world is still very young and it hasn't fully sorted out the various potential it has. If the host can help the world advance then the world would help the host in his quest.]

Aegor didn't know what to think when the wind whispered and the earth sang when the third option was read. It was like the world was listening and urging him to choose option three.

He gulped and asked. “System, is the world alive?”

[Every world is a living host but if you’re asking if the world is conscious then yes. The world is awake and always listening. Always.]

Aegor shivered after reading that. He read enough books to know where this was going.

“As if I had a choice,” He said and chose option three but it didn't do anything. He stared at the screen confused before the system replied.

[Silly host there wasn't a choice. You need to do all three. After a thousand years new choices will be added. Work hard and try to survive, host.]

The confetti didn't lower Aegor dread and trepidation of the system. He knew it. That R.O.B. gave him a defective system.
