Chapter 2

Year 3,000,000 since creation

Current Age: Origin

They sprouted at last after a few million years of waiting. This sector's world trees have begun to grow and with it the formation of earth, sea, and sky. It was flat rather than round, a plane than a planet, but that's to be expected from creation via the world tree method.

The two trees were connected by their roots with the main and biggest roots seemingly becoming one. They were positioned with one upright and the other upside down. In between them, the earth continued to spontaneously appear and the edges were filled with water. Inside the transparent barrier vapor and clouds formed everywhere else not occupied.

Now comes the hard part, management. Ensuring optimal growth as well as devising the laws for this newly born galaxy is my next task.

The process is honestly tiring but very rewarding. It was like gardening except that it's a world tree and not a common plant but for concepts, it very well may just be one. I watched the saplings slowly grow, the little leaves twitching and the roots that are rapidly entrenched into the VOID was always a treat.

It soothes my burnt-out self.

I honestly couldn't understand why the other concepts don't use the world tree method more. It's low cost and maintenance while adding sustainable growth. Best for the long term and also the longest-lasting of all world types. Also, the magic system was already there.

Sustainability is important because VOID can become thin. After all, the world absorbs it. The world can be seen as a plant with the VOID as nutrients and CHAOS as its energy or glucose. With fewer nutrients, the plant will slowly wither and eventually die.

The world tree method breathes in VOID and releases waste energy that was quickly assimilated. This waste energy invigorates the VOID and heightens its concentration. A perpetual motion machine, a net positive exchange.

A world created by this method could theoretically last forever unless destroyed. As a side effect, the VOID's assimilation is harder to resist. Even concepts might not last long.

I just answered my question of why everyone else didn't use it. Still, at least one world using the tree method should be made per branch.

It's still better than just the boring old big bang that more often than not results in a fairly mediocre universe. Oh, there are outliers but most just end up mediocre. Mostly because it's completely randomly generated.

What comes out of the Big Bang and what kind of universe or worlds it has is completely random. There might be some eldritch horrors or magic or whatever it's completely random. The only thing that's not random is that it always includes the science and technology system somewhere in it. It's never without one.

The maintenance part of this world is random. You need different techniques for every variation of it. It's also the fastest growing world and its lifespan is also random. It's both fun and annoying.

The 'there was sky and earth and all in between' manual creation process got boring really fast after the first couple of times and was all so tedious. If you don't pay attention the world may just end by accident. It requires constant supervision for a few billion years before it is declared stable even then it may just explode.

Sure you can create it however you want but stabilizing it was a nightmare. The world created is very dependent on their maker and even when mature it still requires maintenance. Once you make one of these kinds of worlds you will never get rid of it. You will need to take care of it til it dies.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Lifespan depends on quality and stability if made right could theoretically last forever though no one has done so yet. It is the world of your imagination but should've just stayed there. There were templates where those weren't a problem but that takes the fun away from it.

Those two are better than using a dead body as the foundation or just creating a primordial deity from nothing and letting them do the work. Now that last one was just lazy. The two are often done in sequence and rarely does the world born from such a method last long. The most short-lived world.

Usually, the concept creates a boundary and then manually converts VOID into CHAOS which in itself is a net negative. Then create the “primordial or creator deity” and hide in the background or just leave.

The most hands-off creation method. Usually, the original creation dies and becomes the foundation of the world but eventually, the world rots. After all, even if it's a primordial or creation deity’s body it's still a corpse. It will decay and rot. Which is the reason for its short life.

If the primordial stays alive then it might actually last long but still less so than those created by the world tree method. Also the primordial would eventually learn of its creator. There's no stopping it, it's inevitable if they stay alive long enough it will happen. What occurs next depends on the creator’s relationship, if any, to the creation.

“I needed that refresher or did I. Have I become loony after all these years of loneliness and exhaustive work…”

“Nah! I'm still sane. As long as I keep saying it, it will eventually become true. Well, that's that lesson, exposition, and denial done. Back to work.”

With the slow but steady spread of the earth, sea, and sky inside the boundary, it was about the right for the next step. The world trees would provide mana the basic energy required for a magic-focused world that left me to provide the others.

First, I carved nodes and veins under the earth in preparation for dragon or spirit veins for the cultivation system. The next objective was to inscribe the laws of physics into the world origin for science while doing so I also added the psychic, mutation, and biological evolutions to the rules. This would allow for the natural appearance of those in this world.

As I continued to add more and more things like qi or chi, aura, eldritch, and blood systems it became somewhat…No, it became extremely convoluted.

I could feel the Infant world consciousness become extremely confused. While it can't speak yet I can get the gist of it. It told me that it was feeling uncomfortable and bloated. It was at this point that I temporarily stopped because if I continued I might make the world dim-witted.

It normally wouldn't be a problem but because I added cultivators it became a problem. The cultivators would take advantage of the poor world consciousness including the so-called 'righteous' faction. I needed to pace myself and allow the world to adjust and balance things out.

It would take a long time, probably around a few million years or so before I could add new things here but it's fine, I could wait it out. Time for a concept is very fluid. For others, years might be long, for us, it's less than a blink of an eye, and with the formation of the boundary I could just stay inside and not have to worry about being assimilated by the VOID.

The boundary is the transparent layer that separates and protects the worlds inside from the VOID. It also absorbs the energy from the VOID and dilutes it. The first line of defense against foreign worlds and creatures. Its formation signals the birth of the infant world consciousness.

Every world is conscious to varying degrees. It depends on the power system. The scientific world is barely there while the cultivation world has them half to fully awake. The others are in between but those are the two extremes. There are also special cases like eldritch worlds with some barely there and others fully awake and also an eldritch being or even the prime eldritch being.

I didn't want the world itself to become an eldritch god so they added clauses in the laws they inscribed in the origin to prevent it.

The world origin or just origin was where all rules and laws governing the world can be found. When the world was born this was its core and the first to develop. It was very malleable during this newborn stage allowing itself to adapt to any new changes. This was the best time to modify the world to include things like other power systems.

The method of creation directly results in various power systems already present in the origin. Like the World Tree method and magic or the Big Bang and science. Tweaking the origin allows for others like mutants and biological evolution in a magic world or cultivation in a scientific world.

I decided to just finish the previous modifications such as putting the sources of the dragon veins, a sphere a few dozen meters in diameter, in the middle portion of each main root and making the biggest and densest veins there as well.

After connecting all the veins and seeing an increase in pressure I started on the heavenly bodies. With just a thought, countless lights were formed, some dim others bright. A small motion of my amorphous body sent them all to the far reaches of the sky.

Various stars covered the sky, some nothing more than energy others were scientific stars and planets. Then came the suns and moons. I made four pairs of suns and moons totalling eight in number. Giving two suns and two moons each to the upright and upside-down portions.

One was white the other black. These would alternate with first the white sun and moon then the black sun and moon followed by the white sun and lastly black moon and black sun and white moon.

The sky in the day was also white making the white sun invisible while the black sun was easily seen. Similarly, the night sky was dark making the white moon visible while the black moon was camouflaged. I was looking forward to how the science factions explained this and whether they would discover the hidden white sun and black moon.

The sky looked like a clover with white opposite white and dark opposite dark. It was an incredible view from the top of the two world trees.

I wanted things to be different from other worlds I created before with normal celestial bodies. It also fits with the whole yin and yang thing which is a plus. I also wanted to make rainbow colors of suns and moons but that might be too much. Maybe next time.
