Chapter 5

Year 35,000,000 since Origin

Current age: Primordial

The primordial gods

The first beings with intellect born in Candosoccus, the first world and layer. They are personifications of various phenomena such as the sky, earth, and sea and even abstract things such as emotions, life or death.

None know their appearance as all those who saw it were driven mad and some died on the spot. All known descriptions were from the delirious words spoken by madmen.

There was no clear distinction in appearance as all accounts were different. The same god seen by two different people have different looks. Though there have been exceptions. The phrase ‘Mortals may not look directly at god’ was because of them.

The differences between the primordial gods and the modern gods were plenty. One of the biggest was that mortal beings were allowed to see the form of modern gods. The most accepted theory was that modern gods were ascended mortals.

This was later proven true after the latest god of politics apotheosis was filmed and recorded. Though judgment on older modern gods are still questioned the majority are of the opinion that they were also once mortal.

The other was their form of immortality. Primordial gods will continue to exist as long as what they represent is still present.

As long as there was war, the primordial god of war would continue to exist. If killed they will just resurrect immediately and in perfect health. Even destroying their body completely, absolute destruction not leaving even a drop of blood behind, will only delay them for a few years before they reform.

Modern gods need an immense amount of faith to resurrect when killed. The resurrected God is also no longer the original but a new consciousness that was the result of all the faith they absorbed.

The modern gods were also more likely to answer prayers than primordials. Mostly because modern gods required faith while primordials, unless it's for their own amusement, would not care .

Another major distinction is that modern gods value their image and popularity so they value their devotees while primordials just use mortals for games and those games are oftentimes cruel.

There are many more differences between them and those can be found on…,

-An excerpt from the book ‘The study of gods by Milfina Woodrose’

It's been around thirty to thirty five million years since the birth of the primordials. It was hectic to say the least. The world was almost destroyed at least a 100 times a year. Mostly from primordials warring over concepts.

*boom*

A loud explosion rang across the emptiness of space. I watched as two primordials fought over the concept of stars. There were the only two left after everyone else left for other much easier targets.

A million years have passed and the war is finally close to the end. The primordial gods fought over concepts and bound themselves to one. This would be their identity, strength, authority, and power. It would also be their chain forever binding themselves to the world.

They would live as long the world lives and dies when the world perishes. They would also be unable to cross the threshold that separates gods from true concepts like myself. Unless a chance presents itself they would be unable to promote.

Not that they care or know for that matter. The majority of material concepts have already been taken and only a handful remain.

‘Those two have been fighting for over five hundred thousand years,’ I thought. ‘Finally they're done.’

A final blast knocked the other out. The winner took the chance to incorporate the stars to themselves when the other finally came to the process was complete.

The other sullenly left in search of any remaining free concepts. The only ones still free were of puddles, sparks, and other small miscellaneous concepts. I could feel the rage and scorn radiated from them.

I knew that they were one of the strongest among the current batch of primordials. I also knew of some really powerful concepts that were otherwise still unoccupied due to their limited understanding.

The world was still young after all and immaterial concepts, like love, hope, and gravity, weren't quite formed yet. In fact they were still in gestation waiting for when mortal lifeforms would arrive before they truly emerged.

Stolen story; please report.

In this age even primordials could only grasp something that, the mortals would call, physical senses could perceive. They were entirely blind to the incorporeal concepts.

I could help them while the majority of the immaterial concepts were still in gestation there were some already fully formed. Those were especially strong. This could also help promote world growth.

The downsides would be that the chances of the world going boom increases by quite a lot. Primordial gods born from this world were also of eldritch nature. They were all chaotic and chances of them peacefully coexisting were zero. They would probably kill each other for laughs and sport.

I've already had to deal with wars between sky and life and that was a doozy almost had to reveal myself. I should probably ask the world for this one.

“Should I help them sense incorporeal concepts?” I asked.

“Yes please. Oh while you're at it can you make sensing them easier too,” They replied.

“Are you sure about that? This would affect even the future mortal creatures.”

“Yeah I have a good feeling about this,” I was dubious about that. It seemed that this world was either reckless or a gambler but if it does work out then maybe lucky or intuitive.

“Ok done,” I said. I already did so the first time they agreed, right now the god I was watching had already discovered and accommodated the concept of time. Several other primordial gods who were still debating also chose the newly discovered concepts like day, night, dawn and dusk. There were more but these were special and strong I made sure to monitor.

“Have you decided on a name yet?” I asked.

“Give me more time.”

“Sure, take all the time you need.”

The day-night cycle was finally fixed. The concepts day, night, light, dark, sun, and moon were all accommodated and those primordials were tasked with maintaining them.

They would have complained more if the world hadn't said that they were free to do whatever else along as they maintain it. They were also aware that if they refused then they would lose these concepts. They accepted though it didn't stop them from going to war with each other to be the leader of their newly formed group.

*boom*

I, once again, mitigated the majority of the damage so it wouldn't cause too much destruction. The newly crowned primordial of time was blasting the primordial of stars.

‘That grudge didn't last long,’ I thought. After seeing Star unconscious, Time stopped, snorted and then left. A few seconds later a primordial came and accommodated the remnants and became the primordial of grudges. That was another on the watch list.

The others weren't much better. Fire was having beef with Wind, Earth was in a war with Forest, Water was in a pissing contest with Storm, and so much more. The world was in a state of complete chaos.

I made sure that the world remained whole but the surface was a mess and a half. All landmarks, AKA special trees, were fine but everything else was a mess. There were underwater forests of pine trees. Inverted floating mountain. A volcano that erupts with ice shards and frost. It was chaotic but at the same time genius.

The world was changing rapidly with the primordials’ seemingly meaningless wars resulting in various unique and great features. Fonts, plants and other unique features of various elements and concepts. An example was the font of life, one of the most recognizable and found in plenty of other worlds . There was also a font of nature which was much more rare. Moon blooms, sun flowers, aether stones and dark metal.

The elements that were stationary and divided began to spread and mix. The environment changed as more different kinds of elements mix. There were now more forests of different kinds in the world, mountains and volcanoes popping out everywhere. Lakes and rivers chaotically intertwined at every corner.

It was beautiful. I watched the clash of various elements concepts. It was, from my sight, a kaleidoscope of colors. From them a new possible life began to emerge. With the rampant elemental energies in the air and the high concentration of mana they began to emerge. Elementals were born.

An elemental's true form is a spherical core made of condensed crystallized energy. Anything else is formed by manipulating the elements into shape. At this time the majority of elementals just wrapped themselves into made balls of their respective attributes.

This was the turning point. The arrival of elementals sparked the beginning of creation of divine kingdoms and realms. The primordials quickly recruited any elemetal that matched themselves. Using them as foot soldiers for the ever escalating war.

The battlefield was now full of elementals with the primordials slowly stepping back and letting their new minions battle it out. Gone was the threat of global destruction now was the threat of environmental destruction.

Forests were destroyed and recreated in a kind of cycle depending on whether the forest elementals were in play. The land would be submerged or the sea dried out, it was a mess. A lesser mess than before but still a mess.

Shattered cores and shards littered every corner of the world. The souls that remained after the core's destruction were attracted and converged upon the tree of life which began to read and copy the emotions, knowledge and experiences of life. This was its nutritional intake. The tree merely copied and stored them and the souls didn't lose anything from the tree’s feeding.

A living repository of all life's knowledge, experiences, and emotions. That was the tree of life. Its counterpart was less gentle.

Once deceased they were whisked away into the death world. That place was also part of the primordial’s playground as only they could easily cross the gap between life and death. The elemental’s battle didn't end in death because of the eldritch gods’ meddling.

Even in the immaterial world were their shards and cores scattered. Reforming into spiritual beings of a similar form in the realm of the dead, with both a solid but immaterial core. A feature that can currently only happen in the spiritual realm.

Once they die once again they would be reborn into the material plane with no memories of the past with the death tree taking it all for nourishment. Its greedy nature made it consume all there is to the soul leaving only a blank slate. Though some traces do persist even through the reincarnation.

The process of reincarnation and rebirth was currently incomplete. With both Life and Death primordials having no interest in governing or facilitating it, the process was stuck in this inefficient form.

Eventually all primordials left the battlefield and only elementals remained. The war continued on for many more years.

Countless shards buried beneath the earth hidden by the world and wrapping them in an egg shell. A new race planned to emerge in the near future though whether they could is not certain.

“You should do something about this,” I said To the world.

“Why? I don't see any problems at the moment,” the world replied.

“That path is a dead end. I can see it,” The world went silent after my words. I can sense them reviewing strings and thread of fate, probability, and causality.

“There's only a few possibilities of that happening,” They sounded confused. That wasn't surprising as compared to the countless other futures the few, which were still uncountable but noticeable smaller in quantity, that I pointed out didn't seem all that important.

“Look again but this time observe the difference between them more closely,”

They did just that and noticed something.

“It's more colorful,”

“Yes, and that means it's more likely to be the resulting future,” I explained.

The more possibilities did not mean the more likely those events would happen, instead the more colorful and clear the vision is the more likely it is the future that would occur. The quality of the vision is what to look out for instead of the quantity.

I said as such and the world became rattled.

“what do I do?!” They panicked. The visions of dead ends were currently the most clear and colorful of the bunch. The one where only primordials were still waging their unending war while the lifeless world was in shambles being the most prominent.

I was about to suggest something when a soul caught my attention. It was there traversing the VOID and was heading straight to my newly created world. Taking a closer look a flash of inspiration and madness came to me.

“I think I have just the solution to our problem,” I said as I plucked the soul from its course and held it. Various visions flash in my mind and each one is more interesting and amusing than the last.

“Yes, a very fun and interesting solution,” If I had a mortal body I would've been smirking but the tone of my voice did just as much to express my current emotion. My voice was full of interest, amusement and a slight tinge of madness.

The world hummed a bit in curiosity. They focused and scanned the soul in my grasp and asked. “What is so special about that thing?”

“Nothing other than an opportunity,” I answered. Planning and scheming were not my specialty but I was experienced with it. Time to make an isekai protagonist, a term I heard from one of my colleagues.

The soul quivered and shivered as I stared into it. This was gonna be fun.
