The Herbalist class was something like this… it was pretty useful, the only thing that didn’t make sense was the parameter.
Herbalist - Master of Herbs: Gain additional bonus experience when gathering, preparing, and utilizing herbs and plants.
Parameter - Strength: Increases attack power by one point.
Active Skills: Herb Identification - Skillfully identify and categorize various herbs and plants. This skill allows you to recognize the properties and uses of different herbs, ensuring that you can harvest the correct plants for specific remedies or potions. The identification process also helps in distinguishing between useful and potentially harmful plants. Cost: 30 Mana
Botanical Cultivation - Cultivate and grow a variety of plants and herbs with enhanced care and efficiency. This skill allows you to create optimal growing conditions for different species, manage soil quality, and apply specialized techniques to boost plant health and yield. The cultivation process can include planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting plants to ensure high-quality and abundant growth. Cost: 01 Mana per minute
I had no idea why that class granted strength as a parameter… until now, the classes always granted parameters that made sense to them. Still, I knew of other exceptions. In any case, it looked like Nimir had something to say about it.
“I can sense the smell of some plants that seemed medicinal, but they aren't that easy to find here.”
“It is because of the weather.”
“Why is the weather the cause of it?”
“While some plants can survive cold environments, it would be hard for them to multiply if they are covered in snow. The wind wouldn't blow them up and spread some parts of them in the air and birds wouldn't be able to help with that either.”
Nimir had no idea what I was talking about… he was severely lacking when it came to such type of knowledge. Then again, I couldn't say for certain if things worked here the same way they do on Earth… or they did. I had no idea how much time had passed since I died there... I didn't even know how I died or if I died. However, at this point in time, it was hard to think that this world was an illusion or a game.
Putting that aside, knowledge is power and in this world, the difference in power between those who have it and don't have it is even more obvious. I couldn't share everything I knew with Nimir, there wasn't enough time for that, but I could share the most important stuff.
“Do you know how to use numbers? It is important to learn that as an adventurer in order not to be scammed by the guild or the merchants.”
“... I can count, at least.”
“That is a good start.”
From that point onward, I asked Nimir to count to the highest number he could. He could do it until 99. So, I decided to teach him until one thousand, from that point onward, it would be easier for him to manage on his own. While noble kids went to school and classes granted some professional knowledge, things like overall education was still pretty limited in this world. Knowing how to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division surely would come in handy for his future.
Since he couldn't see, teaching him how to read was difficult. It would take longer too… still, there are also skill books that help with that, as weird as that sounds. After all, how can someone learn how to read by reading a book from scratch? The answer is simple: magic.
In any case, when night came, I began to feel better since my debuffs vanished. We also reached the boss' chamber, but I decided to take a break since I could hear Nimir's stomach growling.
While the magic bag could keep things well preserved, the food that we had was simple, we couldn't cook either, so I focused on buying fruits instead. The innkeeper only made enough for all the people in the inn, after all. I couldn't ask for more.
“The boss is alive, so we will rest until tomorrow. Eat and then sleep. When you are done resting, I will take my turn.”
We were inside the dungeon and while it looked like not many people came to challenge the boss nowadays, we still had to be cautious. Sometimes, the monsters also appear in unexpected places, so all the caution was welcome.
Nimir looked full of energy until a moment ago, but as soon as he began to eat and relax a bit, he began to nod off while sitting. He went to the tent to sleep, but he just stayed there for a while moving from one side to the other.
“What is wrong?”
“... I don't know, I have this weird feeling spreading across my body that doesn't let me fall asleep.”
“It must be because you are a bit anxious about sleeping inside a dungeon for the first time. Count to the highest number you can while you don't move your body and make it relax.”
Nimir nodded and then he tried that… maybe it was a bit too soon for him to experience a longer expedition inside the dungeon. Still, that had to happen sooner or later. There are some tools that help with sleep, some enchantments too… perhaps I should get them. Maybe I could combine them with something different and obtain a useful effect.

“... I could fall asleep pretty fast when I was resting my head on my mother's lap.”
“What are you implying? I am not your mother.”
Nimir showed his regretful expression and I sighed… I could understand the logic behind it. Resting close to someone we can trust completely is relaxing. Still, I couldn't make him think that I was the substitute for his parents. He was already ten years old, probably… he had to learn how to deal with those kinds of problems.
“... All right, come here. Just don't get used to it.”
Nimir didn't hesitate and readily approached before letting his head rest on my lap while I was checking my Multi-purpose shooter… Five minutes later he was sleeping soundly.
‘Are you for real?’
Kid or not, I didn't want a guy sleeping on my lap. Perhaps I wouldn't have minded if a son did that, but I would probably make fun of him. My Dad on Earth laughed at me when I did things like that he deemed embarrassing, after all. So, I got a bit of that from him.
After a long sigh, I decided to forget about it. Nimir barely could remember being treated well by anyone aside from his mother… and even those memories had faded away, most of them. Living that kind of life can make someone tough, but it could also make someone jaded.
‘My legs are getting numb and I want to water the plants…’
In the end, Nimir only woke up the next morning… he should have slept around ten hours. We were supposed to have shared the work of the guard duty, but only I did that in the end.
“I am sorry!”
“Whatever, you will have to make yourself useful this time since I didn't rest properly.”
The night hadn't been that long. I actually felt better staying awake at night, but as usual, when morning came, it felt like someone was chaining me to some iron balls.
The boss chamber looked like a forest without trees, the ceilings and walls were covered in plants and vines, but the ground was a bit covered in snow and ice. Some parts were really slippery.
The wood golem boss looked a lot like a tree without branches and leaves… the creature was standing in the middle of the chamber and didn't move at all. It only groaned before making some vines move around us and hit us like a whip. We both jumped away and avoided the attack that made quite the noise.
“Get close to it to keep it busy.”
“Okay!”
Nimir dashed on fours toward the creature. His movements had gotten better thanks to the experience of fighting daily. While sensing the danger, the boss tried to hit him with the whip vines from the floor a bunch of times, but the beast missed.
Without any other choice, the creature fired a barrage of seeds from its mouth; they moved as fast as arrows, but Nimir moved to the side and then managed to avoid the attacks.
“They are about to break, but I guess it is fine… time to get new projectiles.”
I pointed my right hand at the monster and then let my mana be drained. After I saw Louise's combined skill thanks to her swords, I decided to make something similar to myself.
In the next moment, I fired two red glowing iron balls at the monster, and the creature flinched and trembled thanks to the impact. The iron balls pierced its body deeply and also made flames spread from the wounds.
The monster groaned slowly as if it was in slow motion, but soon groaned a lot faster when I hit the iron balls with others… green ones. The flames began to spread like I had tossed oil at them. Wind-enchanted iron balls could fly fast and also spread a gust of wind on impact.
The flames covered the whole body of the monster and then the creature began to shake in pain… I watched the creature like that for a while wondering if it would be enough.
Eventually, the creature reacted out of nowhere and with great speed and tried to grab Nimir with its vines, but he slashed them away with his knives. More and more of them kept coming, but soon I fired two more red iron balls… the flames intensified, and the creature stopped moving after a short moment.
“Ah, my head hurts…”
The creature was killed, but using so many effects at the same time with my weapon was really tiresome… Still, soon, I heard a crack coming from the trigger. The durability decreased by five points… even though it only had fifteen. It was made of wood, so it couldn't be helped… it is impossible that a hand cannon made of wood would last much longer.
“I should make the spare parts with the wood from the boss… or I could make a weaker version since this weapon is clearly too strong for the likes of low-level monsters.”

Those skills were pretty good… naturally, I already knew what they could do thanks to my research, but seeing is also believing. I tried to get a good feel of magic over the years, but I still had no idea how some skills could work. For example, Market Analysis, in theory, could find the historical value of an item and how it could get cheaper or more expensive in the future.
Higher levels in the skill would grant more time related to that information, but wasn't that close to peeking into the past and future? That couldn't be simple magic effects…
