As it turned out, my Epic bow was a fluke. I could swear that I could see the dollar signs in the eyes of Ovelia when she saw that one. Still, it took a whole month to make another one. Maybe I could only make one when the stars aligned or something.
Several months passed since I started working in the shop and since I could buy things directly from Ovelia, or she could order what I needed from outside the city, I began to just work, eat and sleep. I was gaining a shit ton of experience, so it wasn’t half bad.

After a year, my parameters became like this… I increased my Dexterity a lot more than I planned, all in order to produce Rare bows, but it didn’t help that much. It looked like my skills and experience reflected on that a lot more than my raw Dexterity.
In any case, a year had passed, so I decided to take a break from work and explore the dungeon a bit… a new class would help me lift my spirits and since I had a bow of my own of the Epic rank, I had some confidence that I would be fine. One week's break would be fine, I didn’t have to clear the dungeon.
“And that is how it is. I want a break of one week to improve my skills with the bow a bit.”
The twelfth contract was over, and I said that to Ovelia. I imagined that she would complain for not saying that beforehand, but she just studied me silently. The bows always sold fast, and she had a waiting list of clients too. I decided to work more to make the list end faster, but it didn’t help since it always kept increasing. Even when I made ten Rare bows every day.
“... Do you want a new class? I suppose another Dexterity multiplier would help you.”
“What do you mean another? I only have one class with that parameter.”
“Cut the crap.”
It was hard to hide that and Ovelia hated it when I tried to play dumb. In any case, she went silent for a bit wondering about my plan. She was obviously thinking about how she could use that in her favor.
“If you don’t want to clear a dungeon or something, then perhaps we can use this. There is a dungeon North of here, where you can obtain the Enchanter class after defeating the first boss.”
“... I am pretty sure that dungeon only has combat classes and belongs to a noble family.”
“Yeah, but that guy likes my products a lot, he wants to buy half of the bows that you produce. I can agree with that if he decides to help you obtain that class. If that doesn’t work, we can buy your passage there. However, to make that work for me, you will need to sign a contract for at least one year.”
The power of money can even grant combat classes… it wasn’t like I wasn’t aware of that possibility, but it was a risky one. Even if in this one time it is free, getting in the territory of nobles would be a pain… their dungeons are a lot more guarded as well. If a poster with my face was put there, they might connect the dots.
Still, such classes would definitely increase my deck of cards… I had obtained a few items in the last year and studied them, but an actual class would come really in handy. Hesitating for far too much would be suspicious, though.
“All right, I am in.”
“I will put you on the backline of one of the parties that works for the lord of that region. You will be able to fight, but you will be completely safe. Wait for one week.”

I wanted to test my skills and improve them by myself and with my new tools, but maybe that wouldn’t be possible. It was a pity, but you win some and you lose some. In the blink of an eye, one week passed and then I began to prepare for my departure.
“Are you sure you don’t want some enchanted arrows?”
“Nah, I am already going to enter the dungeon with a party. I don’t need any more protection.”
“So, you already entered a dungeon alone, huh?”
Ovelia could be annoyingly sharp… but with age comes wisdom, so perhaps I should just stay quiet most of the time. The guys that I was going to enter the dungeon together were professionals. Ovelia said that they often go with the children of nobles to the deepest parts of the labyrinths in order to give them those classes. Apparently, that was a real job and paid really well. That also showed how some people believed that just having the classes would make their kids competent and that also explained why the common folk found nobles annoying.
“You should at least get some close combat weapon.”
That I couldn’t deny… However, it has been even longer since I used those and few weapons could work well by changing fighting styles when the main one was a bow. I still remember a few things about dual-wielding, but Ovelia only sold enchanted gear there. Still, since I was a living investment for her, perhaps I should be more cautious about my safety.
“I guess these will do then…”
I picked a pair of knives on a nearby table and then checked that they were enchanted to freeze the opponents. This dungeon that we were heading had skeletons on the first section, and they fought at close range. Skeletons are pretty violent, but ice attacks can slow them down.
“I was expecting that you would pick a long sword and a shield to confirm my guess, this is disappointing.”
I let out a sigh… those weapons were of low quality, so they will only last for a week. That would be enough since the train trip would last for one hour.
“I am going then… I will be looking forward to slaving away once I return.”
“Take care out there.”
I nodded and Ovelia waved her right hand… Orland looked a bit displeased by the fact that his sister was investing so much in me. I was a bit hesitant as well since I wasn’t planning to work for her forever. In any case, the workload would increase since I would make the bows and enchant them, but I would be paid more, so it was fine.
After leaving the shop, I arrived at the train station. It was snowing a bit, but I was fully covered. Only the front of my face could be seen, so I wasn't worried. I took a few walks around the city in the last year, but no one found me out yet. They kept looking at me thanks to my shaved head, though. Doing that in cold areas was odd.
‘I want to grow a beard as soon as possible to end this… but wait… will my beard be white too?’
I felt like sighing wondering about dying my beard… the other option was to walk around with a helmet. I would look even more shady while doing that when no fights were taking place in the city.
After arriving at the train station, the train arrived five minutes later. After paying my fare, I got in and waited for the departure… I had gotten used to the city, I saw some attacks, but the warriors there were strong and experienced enough to defend it. Rumors said that they had been doing better lately and I wondered if my bows helped with that.
It was eight in the morning, but the area was still a bit dark thanks to the dense snow clouds above… I soon forgot about my thoughts when the train began to move. I had to put my mind in the game. I couldn’t mess up during this ‘mission’. The plan was to go to the tenth level and then return and apparently, there would be another person there to gain the classes for free too. Probably a noble’s kid. I needed to stay clear from them and keep my mouth shut just to be sure.
One hour later, I arrived in the Ramnes town. The place was a bit close to the border too, so it was completely walled, but it didn’t look like a fortress as Ironcliff did. The place was surrounded by a large forest in the north and the mountains in the south. Snow apparently accumulated more there than in the city based on what I could see.
In any case, I left the train station without wasting time since I had to be at ten o’clock in front of the guild where I was going to meet the others. Still, I slowed down a bit when I found the shops along the way and saw the stuff that they were selling.
‘Not much of magic implements… Speaking of which, I should ask Ovelia to buy me a magic bag when the contract ends. Two years working for her should be enough. I also would need to keep a lot of things with me to make things more efficient on my journey.’
After using the system as an adventurer for over a year, more or less, I could tell that the multipliers were a lot more important than I had expected. Unless you spent day in and day out in some hard labyrinths, the experience gained was limited. So, the multipliers would make those parameters increase a lot more obvious.
The guild was empty when I arrived there… the interior only had a couple of people and there was none outside. The ones inside didn’t look like the guys who were supposed to help me enter the dungeon.
I talked with one of the guild receptionists, and she nodded saying that there was a job like that, but she didn’t see the group who accepted the job today. I was a bit earlier, so I decided to wait outside.
One hour later, I could feel my head hurting… Those guys wouldn’t be brazen enough to leave me behind, even though I was supposed to be a nobody. In any case, unless they had meetings with other nobles, those guys tend to be a lot looser when it comes to time.
Thirty minutes later, I found the group that I was going to work with. Three of them were tall warriors equipped with a battle axe, a spear, and a greatsword. All of them were heavily armored, to the point that I couldn’t even see their expressions.

‘They have brand new and enchanted gear too… a bit too much for the first section of the labyrinth… I assumed that they were only adventurers, but I guess they are guards too. Their parameters are basically the same.’
At least they didn’t look like knights… the other two members much to my surprise were a maid wearing some light protectors on her joints and her uniform. At least her black hair was tied up in a ponytail, and she had a wand with her, so she was probably a magician. She moved with elegance, her footsteps in the snow barely made any sound. When I tried to check her, I furrowed my eyebrows since Idenfication failed. It was only at level four, so it wasn’t surprising, but…
The last member of the party was a girl around fifteen who was wearing a dress… but unlike what I had expected, her dress was filled with protectors of high quality that also emitted a magic glow. It made me recall a certain female knight who was also a king in a certain franchise who held the legendary holy sword. Her hairstyle was also the same, even her hair blond hair, and green eyes were essentially the same.
