I squinted my eyes wondering if my luck was that bad. I was heading in that direction too… some people left their homes to check what was going on, but soon they lost interest.
‘Is this a normal occurrence here?’
I came here partly because I thought that I could learn some skills here… Kaina was also a town known for its bookstores that taught a variety of skills that all classes could learn. The dungeon here also granted a class called a magic scribe. With that class, people can write down books while their mana is consumed. Based on the level of one of the skills of that class, you can learn the skills of those books even without practicing them.
Naturally, the better the book, the more expensive it would be. That class was interesting and could help me make some money, but there was too much competition there and I would start from scratch. Besides, I already had the classes that I wanted to obtain in mind.
After walking for a bit, I sighed when I realized that the inns in the town were close to where the explosion happened. I also was able to see that the place where the explosion took place in was fine… the smoke had already dispersed. As if that was a common occurrence and people around were ready for it. In any case, it took place in a large warehouse.
The dungeon and the guild were apparently in that part of the town too, so it made sense that the inns would be there… Soon enough, I found an inn that had a stable filled with horses, so I confirmed that the place had a free room. The innkeeper was a middle-aged plump lady who had a warm smile. Her smile was a bit scary since she asked me for eighty breeze coins daily for the room and three meals. As long as they were better than the previous ones…
Each room had a small bathroom with water, so I used it to clean myself throughly before dinner. I didn't think my wounds were that deep, but I had to be cautious because I couldn't let myself get sick or let wounds fester. Who knew what kind of diseases I could get in a world of magic and monsters? If that were to happen, my journey would be pretty much done since I couldn't count on anyone.
Once that was done and I changed my clothes, I headed to the entrance of the inn to have dinner. The place was already crowded and I stood out like a sore thumb since I was alone while the others were in groups and by the look of it, they were adventurers.
“Getting deeper in the dungeon is getting harder since a lot of parties went south… more of them will probably follow since no one cleared that new dungeon.”
“Seriously? It isn't already confirmed that it is at least a Chimeric dungeon, then?”
“It could be even higher… even the combat classes granted by a Chimeric dungeon are pretty damn good.”
“In any case, anything deeper than that and it will take months to clear the dungeon… we will be busy here for a while.”
Less competition wasn't always a good thing… when a dungeon or labyrinth was too deep, it required a certain number of monsters to be slain daily, otherwise, the mana levels could start to increase. That kind of phenomenon starts working on dungeons of chimeric level and above.
Before I could get my dinner, I heard some useful things, so my idea was fine. The price for it was the fact that I had to wait for a while before my dinner was served.
In any case, I confirmed that the pay for working in the dungeon was still fine because of the materials of the monsters. To write skill books of high quality and even scrolls, people needed high-quality materials. That was a hidden formula of the alchemists in the area, but by using the wings of the monsters in the dungeon, they could make magic ink and that was pretty valuable.
Just like in the previous dungeon, there was one type of monster up to the tenth floor and then another type after the boss. The first type was an eyeball bat… the name defined the appearance of the creature pretty well. They had a single eyeball that was half a meter long… their wings were the same length.
For all intentions and purposes, I should be able to easily kill them with my arrows, but they can use wind magic, so I had to be cautious. As usual, whoever attacks first has the most chance of winning.
Once I returned to my room after eating, I wondered if I should prepare to make a new weapon, but thanks to the exhaustion, I soon fell asleep.
The next day after breakfast, I went to look for some normal paper and ink in the town and then stored it. I didn't have that much room to carry stuff with me, but I needed to confirm one thing as soon as possible.

I headed to the guild and then found the place crawling with activity… people were choosing jobs and leaving after informing the receptionist of it. They were worried that if they didn't work hard, a dungeon break would eventually happen.
In any case, I could choose jobs from stone to silver now, but the people around couldn't help but frown since they never saw me around…
‘Silver jobs have escorting missions of a single day, huh?’
There were others that took more days and required people to go to a few villages in the area with a merchant. It paid well, but it wasn't worth the hassle to increase one's rank. In any case, I would need twenty thousand points to become a silver-ranked adventurer.
There are still a bunch of quests that wanted the wings of the eyeball bats, so I chose the one with the highest number required. The rate was also pretty good, ten breeze coins for each wing. The others were a bit smaller than that. In any case, it seemed that there was more than one alchemist in town… I found myself imagining them stirring a large cauldron and putting the wings there while laughing.
“Excuse me, I came from another guild and I want this job.”
This guild had three female receptionists working and there was no barkeeper working inside, so the atmosphere there was a bit more serious. They were all wearing uniforms that looked a bit similar to the servants of the Dawnshield family, but a bit less fancy. Only the one I was talking to had glasses and she had short and curly chestnut hair.
“May I check your adventurer’s card?”
The lady studied me and then asked that, and I just nodded. I wished that I had time to dye my hair… I didn’t know if she would ask where I came from, but if anyone did any research, then they wouldn’t find anything about a Regis that didn’t have blonde hair.
“Thank you, you can proceed on completing the quest.”
I nodded and then left the dungeon noticing that a lot of people were looking at me. Most of them were young adventurers, so I wondered if they wanted to recruit me to their parties temporarily or if they were just cautious of the new concurrence that just arrived.
The area between the town and the dungeon was dense forest, but there was a clear path to follow. I also saw some people heading ahead, so I couldn’t get lost. Once I confirmed that no one was that close behind me, I began to rewrite the information I got about the classes in a detailed manner. I only did the Archer class for now and once I finished, Master of Record Keeping rewarded me.

‘Not bad, huh… what if I add the information about the tricks that I learned to gain experience in this class?’
You received 05 experience points.
Once I added more information, that happened… perhaps I could write down a biography about someone with all the details possible and then I would receive a stupid amount of experience, but for now, I had to be more practical. Using a few hours every day at the inn to gain experience like that won’t be half bad.
We were close to the border with the territory of another family, so the guards camping near the dungeon were awake and focused on their jobs. I didn’t hear anything about the Dawnshield family having trouble with other families, but it was probably a better idea to be cautious. Rayner was a war hero and had close ties with the imperial family, so without a doubt, he had people who wanted to see him fall.
The entrance of the dungeon was a bit different, there was a single giant bat engraved on the stone above the entrance of the dungeon. Aside from that, it looked like a regular entrance to an underground cave. There was a group of people waiting in front of the entrance… by the look of things, there was a time that each group could enter after the other. I moved behind this one group and then after five minutes, they went inside the dungeon when the guards moved their spears away from the entrance.
Those guys were supposed to be working for Rayner, so I felt a bit tense in waiting in front of them like that, but I kept my best poker face and waited patiently. In the end, they let me go after fifteen minutes.
‘Is that the spawning rate here? It is half of the other dungeon… Albert didn’t mention this kind of thing in his books.’
In any case, it wasn’t time to worry about that… I went down the entrance of the dungeon with my bow in hand and then ready to use my nocked arrow. Much to my surprise, as soon as I left the staircase, I heard the screeching sound of two eyeball bats and they moved toward me…
I opened my eyes widely and then fired the first arrow that pierced the eye of the creature with ease. The monster screeched in the air for a bit before falling. Out of reflex, I also used Rapid Fire and fired three arrows at the remaining creature that was approaching… the skill allowed me to get my arrows two times faster. Still, a single arrow did the trick.

‘Hmm, not bad… It seems that I will get a lot of experience here. This will come in handy. However, I didn’t hear about this.’
It looked like my information-gathering skills needed some work. For a dungeon to spawn two monsters at the same time… the guards knew that I was alone and that I was young too, and they didn’t warn me of that. Not like they have to… I avoided their gaze and waited for my turn, but perhaps I could have noticed something if I had paid attention to them.
In any case, I recovered my arrows in a hurry and also chopped the wings of the bats. Today, I had to at least reach the final of the first floor and complete the quest.
