9 - Scouting Preparation

Ayva took to scouting mission to avoid the awkwardness of the situation. Leonel is consoling Eliza who was crying. She was having a nervous breakdown.

"Don't touch me!"

Knowing that he couldn't do anything, Ayva steps aside. Thankfully, Leonel's hand was on Eliza's face, wiping away her tears. They were looking at eachother in the eyes. It was uh... an one-on-one session. It is too awkward to be around, especially considering one of the participant was a girl that Ayva used to like.

Thinking back, it was quite naive of him.

Just because he lives in a small village, there was not many girls around. It was a pretty shallow feeling. Eliza was one of the prettiest girl in the village and his childhood friend. So he expected something. However, a relationship is a two-way road.

Just because you like someone with all your feeling does not mean they will like you back. You are just really creepy then.

Then, Ayva took point with Micah and became the scout.

Remembering the role of Evra in game, Ayva discards his chainmail and took on some leather armor. It was imbued with the element of fire.

In game, rogue like Evra has a kind of role, that is, to successfully run away. And the leather armor can be considered the armor of the rogue. Before Evra changed her class, Evra could only wear something like that despite her high strength because rogue has a penalty to heavy armor. Only after her STR and AGI became so high effectively increasing damage per turn sky high that what her armor was stop mattering. The only duty of Evra at end game was dissing a disgusting amount of damage on a single target in one turn.

Only after changing class, did Ayva thought about turning Evra into a proper fighter with both attack and defense.

However, the leather armor is indeed the armor of the Rogue. It gave them +1 INT for minmax character like Evra who need the extra intelligence to use some Rogue specific skill and pass some lockpick and trap disarm check. It also gave a +10% chance to dodge, not that it matters since Evra has already maxed out her dodge. And finally, the most important perk of Leather Armor.

It gave an increase chance in escaping an encounter.

In Faulty Heroes, when a character escape, they still have to fight their way back through the [Floor] of their adventure, until they reach their base safely.

When a fight was going wrong and there is a high chance that all party members will be killed, having a rogue is a must because of one pesky mechanic in Faulty Heroes.

When all member of an adventuring party is killed on a quest, they can easily be revived, however, they will lose all their loots from all the encounter. They will also experience a gold penalty.

However, with a Rogue in a party, when almost all member of a party is killed, a Rogue can use their high chance to escape an encounter to run away safely. With their high dodge chance and high escape chance, they can run back all the way back to base easily

If even a single living member of a party returns to base alive, all members of the adventuring party will be resurrected without penalty.

Not only that, they also keep all their loots.

It could be said that the Rogue is the best at escaping and preserving your wealth.

Thinking of that, Ayva chose to be the scout. If something happens, he could always escape.

Being a scout and carrying a big spear is cumbersome, Ayva puts it down and takes up Giant's Bane.

With Micah, someone that he does not trust, still being there, Ayva did not directly puts Gungnir back in his inventory, he entrusts it to Leonel before going.

Then, letting instinct takes him, Ayva jumps.

----------------------------------------

Between the tree, with the leafs in the wind, Ayva feels like he is flying. He knows that having max AGI must be amazing, but this is really too amazing. He feels like a feather in the air. Dashing between trees like a ninja, there was not a single sound made.

Apparently, there was a Rogue/Sorcerer hybrid class in Faulty Heroes which is called Ninja. It is unlocked by going to the eastern country in the game. It is also where the Samurai hybrid class that combine Warrior and Sorcerer appears. However, Ayva never bothers. He did not think too deeply when playing the game and just make a high damage Mage, a healbot Priest and a high single target damage Rogue that double as escape option party.

Ayva reviews what he has. From his previous experience with discovering the bandit archer, it seems there was some effect from some of the skill that was not usable in game.

In game, Rogue has a lot of skill, lots and lots of skill that is gated behind INT and AGI respectably. For successful disarming of trap, lock picking or detecting enemy, it requires INT.

For movement abilities, it requires AGI.

Ayva went full bunga and built Evra to be STR/AGI instead of INT/AGI so almost all of her skill that require Intelligence are locked out.

However, that moment, before he even met the archers, there was definitely a kind of premonition. Perhaps it was the after effect of maxing AGI, however, it could also be the effect of [Detect Enemies].

So Ayva reviews his skills and equipped skills.

There was only Rogue skills there, when he levels up to 4, he will be able to choose one Priest and one Warrior skill each, but not now.

In Faulty Heroes, you can unlock many abilities and skills, however, in battle, you can only equip three active abilities. The explanation for that in the game was that the damned anime girls and boys avatar of Faulty Heroes was "faulty" and could only remember a certain numbers of actions that they could perform in combat... So said the dev's faceless in game chibi avatar!

Anyway, it was basically just game limitation. IT is an idle mobile game, even having a fledge out world and unique zone to explore was a luxury.

The three active skills that Evra has equipped before Ayva changed her class to Human Lord was

[Lightning Reflex]

[Parry II]

[Critical Strike]

Critical Strike was actually locked out for normal Evra if she does not have any equipments on. It requires 11 INT while Evra only had 10. Only when she puts on some INT boosting equipment can she uses it.

There was actually a better Critical Strike, however, its INT requirement was even higher, so even though Evra has it, she cannot use it.

Lightning Reflex requires 10 MP to use, Parry II requires 5 MP and Critical Strike requires 2MP.

As a Bunga dodge canon, Evra doesn't actually have any damage skills. It may sound stupid, however, Ayva purposely built his in game minmax damage dealer to only deal damage with her normal attack. It was stupid, but Rogue does not have any damage dealing ability without requiring INT.

Instead because she was built as STR/AGI, Ayva has an 8 hits normal attack that hits a single target harder than the wizard's most costly spell or even the Warrior's attack skill, in exchange for being reckless. Still, Evra's normal attack is her main damage dealing ability, it is now Ayva's too, he supposed.

...Until now, Ayva still doesn't know why he inherited Evra's ingame abilities.

He did get attached to that in game anime girl avatar though, and she became the face of his party, so perhaps it was that attachment.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Lightning Reflex uses the most MP for a single target buff. It is also the most amazing.

Lightning Reflex Require [Swiftness]

Legendary: Hero's reflex becomes as fast as lightning, increase hit and dodge.

Target: Self, Number of attack +50%, Dodge chance +40% (Break Limit), duration: 10 turns

It is a buff that increase Number of attack, allowing a rogue to attack more time with their normal attack. It could be useful with an INT/AGI rogue, however their damage output will never be as much as a ball to the wall STR/AGI rogue.

It increases their number of attack, which is already astronomically high because Evra maxed out her AGI, however, added to that, each attack hits with the force of a maxed out STR stat.

At end game, Evra could hit 8 times a turn. With one turn to cast Lightning Reflex, she now hits 12 times a turn for 10 turns with her maxed out STR. Not only that, Light Reflex was even a (Break Limit) skill. (Break Limit) refers to breaking a certain limit in the game, whether it is damage for Sorcerer, or the ability to not die despite hitting 0HP for Warrior. Only Priest does not have any Limit Break skill for some reason, but they were already broken enough.

The Rogue's Lightning Reflex legendary allows them to break the Dodge Chance limit.

In game, the maximum physical dodge chance for a character is 90%. Evra has certain skills that increase her dodge chance, however, they are only used at the beginning of the game because they soon lose their effectiveness when Evra maxed out her AGI as well as dodge. Even though those skills said they increase dodge chance by percentage, they can't increase it more than 90%, it is a limit of the game.

However, with Lightning Reflex, it is different, it breaks the limit (as well as the game) and gives Evra a 130% dodge chance for physical attack. It translates to her being impervious to physical attack unless they have special properties. Not only that, the 30% extra translate into a 30% chance to actually dodge damage from a spell.

It was impossible to dodge spell in game unless you have Lightning Reflex.

Combine with that, Evra has [Parry II] for protection

Parry II Require [Parry]

Hero enter a trance and masterfully parry attack with their weapons

Target: Self, Parry chance: +50%, Duration: 10 turns

It is stupidly effective despite not being that glamorous. As long as it is a single target damage, Evra has a 50% chance to Parry it.

...Even if it is a giant fireball

...Even if it is actually a giant throwing their fist

...Even if it is lightning bolt

...Even if it is a stone being thrown

With the two skills, Evra the avatar was practically immortal for 9 turns. Normally, in that amount of time, a masterfully built minmax glass cannon avatar such as Evra could bust down any single important target.

Critical Strike is an after thought in comparison

Critical Strike Deal damage to one enemy

Critical Strike chance +20%

Rubbing his chin, Ayva tries equipping another skill.

It was a skill called [Hide]

It was a locked out skill because it requires 12 INT. However, when Ayva equip it, he could.

But when he tries to use it like [Lightning Reflex], [Parry II] and [Critical Strike], he found that he couldn't do it as instinctively. It appears in the slot, but it is still grayed out.

However, in his mind, Ayva suddenly has a few idea on how to hide his track, but it is not a well formed idea.

He realizes that with the skill that requires high INT requirement, he could partially use them, however, their effect won't be as advertised. Still, it would still be useful.

Ayva then glances at all the locked skill that requires high INT

[Detect Enemies]

[Detect Monsters]

[Hide]

[Detect Trap]

[Disarm Trap]

[Ambush]

[Critical Strike II]

[Arrow Rain]

[Arrow Rain II]

Then, Ayva glances at his active skill list:

[Lightning Reflex]

[Parry II]

[Critical Strike]

Ayva decided to take out Parry II and Critical Strike because they were not as important and replace it with [Detect Enemies] and [Detect Trap] because he feels they are the most important skills right now. Even though the requirement isn't fully met, Ayva can feel a certain knowledge fill his head. It was incomplete, however, it fills him with a certain understanding of the skills.

Suddenly, while equipping the skill, Ayva's mind went black for a moment

Certain scenes start playing out in front of him.

Ayva found that he was seeing through someone else' eyes.

That person was hiding in the trees. Jumping down. that person went to look at the trail on the ground. Picking up one of the broken branches, Ayva could see that that person's arms were delicate, like a girl. That person then check the location of the sun and look North.

They have found the location of an Orc encampment, it was time to go back and report...

Suddenly, back in the present, Ayva shakes his head.

"That was...

The {memories} of [Detect Enemies]?"

It makes sense to him. Ayva was someone who does not know how to track and detect enemies, when he equip such skills, certain knowledge has to be sent to his mind, certain experience.

It does not help that he does not have the necessary INT to equip them properly.

With some trepidation, Ayva equip [Detect Trap]

And then, his mind went dark again

That person was inside an ancient temple that was eaten by the jungle. There was two other behind that person, however, currently, that person is concentrating on what is in front of them. With a push of a hidden hidden pressure detecting mechanism, suddenly the floor in front of them fall out. The party has escaped calamity again.

A green hair girl with pointy ears from behind them excitedly move forward after the trap has been disarmed

"Wait Agade!"

However, it was not fast enough. What they are facing was a double trap.

The moment the green hair girl moves forward, it triggers another mechanism to release a giant stone boulder rolling toward them. Rolling her eyes, that person looks directly at the stone boulder rolling down, crushing her green hair companion, smearing her body over the ground.

"Agade dies again. It is time to report back to base camp to resurrect her."

Suddenly, again, Ayva snaps out of it.

He even nudge his head just a bit to get out of the deja vu feeling.

Then he thought of something.

The party of three in game Avatars that Ayva used to defeat the demon king was called Evra, Agade and Rah. The person that dies in that memories was called Agade.

...It could just be a coincidence couldn't it?

Shaking his head, Ayva dispels that thought and equip his skills.

With all preparation in place, it was time to go ahead and see just who they are facing
