When he opens his eyes, he remembers everything.
The world was sieged by demon lord and every generation, heroes would rise up to defeat him.
It is the premise of a casual mobile game that he has played, called Faulty Heroes. Players create random anime avatar and sent them on quest to defeat various baddies. It is actually an idle game, there are a total of 9 stages. It was not as bad as some other, having a clear ending after you defeat the demon lord.
During the game, players avatar are completely mogged by the enemies npc. Even some mid game guard enemies have stat that is on the end game player avatar. Their HP is normal to a RPG game, as in 300 for a mook, 30,000 for the demon lord and so on and so forth. The players have no hope of defeating everything in one sitting.
So that is where the idle part came in.
So when you fail, you try, try, try again!
The players continue to send their avatars in group of 4 to assault the enemies' base, when they fail, the players avatar retreat and try again. During the game, you could also buy HP and MP Potions to assist with the idle quest. The basic gameplay loop was 'Sending avatars on quest > Gain XP and Gold > Buy potions > Optionally level up the avatars and choose skills'
Because the npc's force don't increase over time, with enough chipping, the entire demon army was defeated.
The boy remembers 'finishing' the idle game. The Faulty Heroes was faulty because they are such failures. However, there was a few tricks to make them last longer during the game. For example, minmaxing agility and strength. The player's stat max out at 20. It is divided into four main stat, Strength, which is how hard you hit physically as well as item you could handle, Int, which determines your MP and the tier of spells you unlock, Agi, which determines dodge as well as accuracy of the avatar's hit, and finally VIT, which is HP.
The enemies aren't limited to the max HP and Damage they could dish out, but because it is a mobile game, you can cheese thing out and max Agility which gave the avatar 90% dodge as well as 100% accuracy. Maxing strength allow you to deal the most physical damage.
It is a mobile idle game, it isn't big brain math, so the boy put three characters into existence. Because he is a weeb, the boy create basically three anime girls avatar.
One of them is a balance build priest with some point in Strength, Int and Vit. The priest isn't supposed to deal damage anyway so some Strength for damage is enough, and some Int to unlock higher tier healing spell and finally Vit to make sure she survives
Then the two other is the one that was minmaxed dumbly. One is a mage, with all the point in INT and VIT, which maximize the MP as well as the higher level spell, and VIT unlock some higher Sleep spell for some reason, it also keeps her survival rate.
And the final is basically the boy's favorite unit. Maxing both Str and Agi, which hit hard, fast and almost can't be hit. With Maxed Agi, she hits 8 times everytime her turns come. And she hits hard with maxed strength, she is a delicate paper but with that damage, it doesn't matter, the priest can support when she is hit anyway. In an Idle game, increasing the speed of progress is the best.
It has been 12 years since he was born, suddenly now he remembers.
"Are you okay, Ayva?"
His friend, Eliza who accidentally hits him in the head asks in worry.
"Ah I'm fine."
He looks at the girl, he remembers her as his friends, but he remembers his other life too, or at least the game he played, it was played out vividly in his mind. For some reasons, there was no doubt in his mind that he was in faulty heroes.
A boy extends his hand to help the boy up. It was his other childhood friend, Leonel. The other boy didn't say much, but after confirming that he was fine, the boy smiles.
----------------------------------------
It was a strange experience, discovering that you were in the world of a game, and idle game no less.
Ayva checked up on his inventory to see if it was still there. However, there was no way to check. At least there has to be a cheat in the other world right?
However, his childhood friend broke him out of the musing.
"Are you checking on your status page?"
"Wait, status page actually exist?"
The boy almost caught himself, of course those exist, they are in the world of a game.
"Well, I'm from the city, so I know." Leonel told him and Eliza
"It is almost unheard of out here, but when you are of age, you can come to the priest to show you your Status Page, from then on, you can unlock it on your own."
"Wow, really, that's amazing." Eliza clapped her hands
"How about it, when we are of age, we should definitely go together, all three of us." Eliza told him, smiling.
"Ah, okay." Ayva can only smile weakly. The world of an idle game of all thing...
"Of course. All three of us." Leonel smiles confidently.
----------------------------------------
That time was short. In this world, you are considered of age when you are 13, after one year of remembering, the three come to the priest to get their status page unlock.
Ayva went first to assuade his fear, he wanted to see if there was any cheat. Except when he looks it was the interface of the game looking back at him.
"Hmm, what is this title."
The status page shows the status page of his most favorite unit in the game back at him. The minmaxed faulty heroes of an idle game. Of course, in the game they were 'faulty' heroes, so the status page reflected that.
"What is this? 'Faulty Heroes'? Oh mind every status is capped at 20, what is this STR, AGI, INT and WIT things? They are all capped at 20 so even if you raised them, it won't go past 20. And your HP? 100, oh dear it seems the Gods have a sense of humour, I'm sorry young man."

An average guard in the capital city has 300 HP, so it is not like it is bad. However, the priest was convinced that Faulty Heroes was a joke title. He can't make head or sense of what STR, AGI, INT or WIT because in game, the npc only has two stat, HP and Damage. Of course they are all enemies after all
"It's alright Ayva." Leonel reassures him. He steps up and gets assessed
"Oh mind!" The priest almost fell over.
"HP: 1200
Damage: 50
Hit: 1
Can use: Sword, Spear, Bow, Mace, Light Armor, Heavy Armor"
Ayva's eyes almost bulge seeing his friend's status page appearing just like an enemy in the game. What is with that?
"This is... Hero!"
Ayva glances over at the priest. What is his problem?
"Ability to wield all weapons, you are definitely the hero! It was prophecized that you will appear again."
Was that a thing in the game?
Of course not, it is an idle game.
Ayva and Eliza waited as the other priests panic over Leonel's appearance. However, the other boy was mostly calm. He accepted it as if it was natural. Meanwhile, Eliza keeps on repeating
"Hero... Leonel is the hero..."
After a while, Eliza got her assessment.
"HP:500
Damage: 30
Hit: 1
Spell: Heal Greater Wound, Mass Heal Greater Wound, Fire Draw
Can use: Staff, Mace, Bow, Light Armor"
Ayva almost did a spit take. The spell available to Eliza was all envious. Because her stat sheet was set up like an enemy NPC, she doesn't even have an MP stat. In game, enemy NPC can always cast spell, only the Faulty Heroes' has a limit on how many spell they can cast.
The most baffling is that instead of the more powerful player spell like Heal Greater Wound, Mass Heal Greater Wound, Eliza has a skill that only appear on demonic enemy, Fire Draw. The player version is called Fire Ball, Greater Fire Ball and Greater Fire Ball (Upgraded). Both Fire Draw and Fire Ball deal AoE fire Damage, but Fire Draw is an enemy demon exclusive skill, and it is quite weak. Probably the dev thought the enemy having a powerful AoE skill that can wipe the weak players party in one lucky hit is too much even for an idle game.
The priest continues to panic
"This is... Saintess!"
Ayva glances at him again. What is with this guy?
The reaction is a bit too much. Eliza's face also harden. It appears she was embarrassed.
Leonel and Eliza was kept for the party. Ayva stayed too with his friends. However, his mind was thinking about actually being sent to an actual battlefield. It was a good life, but how could this happen?
Leonel and Eliza was neutral, but Ayva was panicking. They were 13 years old, as someone who once knew a more advanced world, thinking about being sent to an active battlefield with demon and demon lord almost break his mind
Ayva looks at his status page again, and press something
It was the detail button
A single faulty heroes completely can't solo the demon lord in one try. In an idle game, you can do it again and again until the demon lord's HP is chipped away, but this is not an idle game, you only have one life.
Ayva looks at his page. It was even worse because the last action he did to the minmax character was changing her class.
It seems the Priest can't see class and equipment of a player, at least it makes sense
In Faulty Heroes, an avatar HP and Damage scale with level. The player avatar stat is not like the npc. As they level up, their HP and Damage change, their HP could never be equal to actual enemy of course, but they do increase. An end game character's HP is 500, almost like Eliza when she started out.
However his current HP is 100. It was because he changed the minmaxed character's class.
Ayva remembers it.
In the game, after defeating the Demon Lord, there was nothing else to do except to start over. However, the Demon Lord did drop something, it was called the Medalion of the Lord. After using it on a character, their level will be reset while they keep their current stat, and their Class will be changed to the 'Human Lord', which is a variation on the "Demon Lord". The human lord class can equip everything and hit harder than the warrior while being able to use some of priest's healing spell.
So with the game being over, Ayva use the Medalion on his favorite minmaxed character, Evra, who was previously a rogue, which has restriction on what they can use. However, rogue also have a bunch of utility like all the Detect Skills. After maxing her STR, Ayva thought about redoing her and start over with a warrior because warrior hits harder and and can use other weapons. He wanted to use the utility skill at first, but they were always useless to be honest.
However, with the Medalion of the Lord, Ayva didn't need to shelve Evra, he can always start over with her.
But right now, that decision is biting him in the butt.
He has the HP of Evra, which is at level one.
