26. Eliza

When Aeana woke up, the battle was concluded.

Around her are five decapitated corpses and two collapsed bodies. Ayva collapsed due to exhaustion and Micah due to blood loss. With no transportation, the only thing she could do was tending to their wounds and waiting until somebody crosses them.

----------------------------------------

Ayva woke up a few time during his coma. He has high fever because of the extend of his burn. For him, Aeana doesn't know what to do. It was approaching night and she can't take off his clothes to wash him.

The only thing Ayva told her was that [Evra] killed them all. Ayva was burned by a wizard fireball and survived it. Micah was dealt a debilitate wound while defending the unconscious Aeana.

After hearing all of that, Aeana just felt regret. Regret that just her few moment of weakness has lead to the current situation. But more importantly, she was supposed to be a protector, in this situation, she was the person who was protected.

In the end, Aeana chose to do her best to protect both of the men before rescue arrive. She applies pressure on Micah's wound and tend to his wound. It is Ayva's burn wound that was harder to deal with.

On the second days out door, she built a temporary shelter before rescue arrive.

It was Leonel's party who was arriving on the same road.

Seeing them, Aeana waves her flag frantically, hoping for someone to see. Leonel was talking to princess Aries, surprisingly, the first person to see it was Eliza.

She immediately stops the carriage and runs over to the surprise of Leonel who finally notices Aeana's presence.

Then, he notices a certain absence of two other persons who were following Aeana and gasps. He runs after Eliza despite princess Aries calling out for him.

Eliza was the person who arrived first. Seeing her childhood friend, the dumb one, lying on the ground with burn wound all over his body, she felt a pain in her heart. While he was always the less cool one in the relationship, he was her friend. Ayva was always there as the annoying voice accompanying Leonel and Eliza, however, for some reasons, she was fond of him.

She only wishes that Ayva wasn't so indecisive with his life.

Hurriedly cradling his body, Eliza starts a chant for a [Heal Greater Wound]. She notices a knight lying next to Ayva, however, because the effect of [Mass Heal Greater Wound] is less potent than a [Heal Greater Wound], she chose not to heal him temporarily to focus on the burn patient.

Leonel watches the scene with anxiety. There was no word spoken because he cannot do anything at that moment in time, instead choosing to defer to Eliza's expertise.

There was a time in their childhood when Eliza falls down a tree. At that time, Ayva found her and carried her half the way. Exhausted, Leonel found them and carried her the other half of the way.

Right now in this situation, it was just like repayment for last time with Eliza carrying Ayva this time.

It was at this moment that the exhausted Aeana managed to run back to where she has laid Ayva and Micah. Looking at Micah's still bleeding wound, Aeana looks anxious and starts speaking

"Please miss Saint, why won't you cast your Mass Healing magic?"

Instead, Eliza looks Aeana one over. She found that there was not even a speck of damage on Aeana's body and comes to a conclusion. With both Ayva and Micah out of the count while Aeana remains untouched, strange scenarios run through Eliza's head.

She chose to ignore Aeana's words for the moment and finalized her treatment. Then she slowly walks over toward Aeana.

Leonel realized that something was wrong and was about to move to stop her, however, Eliza's hand already slaps Aeana's face.

Stunned, Aeana is unmoved from that position, her head craned to one direction.

And yet, the words that come next were harder than the slap

"They protected you."

Aeana's mind went reeling with the simple words.

"Are you even worthy to walk the same ground as us?"

Eliza just wanted to twist the knife.

From her mouth, such bile and vileness spill out without hesitation

"Are you even worthy to walk on the same ground as us?"

It was simply because Eliza dislikes her.

She dislikes Aeana from their very first meeting.

She didn't like the way Aeana treated Ayva despite Aeana being the one who needed to prove herself the most.

She hates the fact that Aeana always acts as if she was superior even though Eliza knows just how powerful her friend could be, even if she dislikes that brutality.

Instead, she chose to stay her words opting to not heal the bitch the first time instead.

And yet, again, that woman just has to tempt her.

When she met her again, Ayva was in a coma. Micah was stabbed. And Aeana, Aeana was fine.

There was basically no battle where Ayva walked out with such injuries and yet Aeana could walk out with no injuries. In her mind, Eliza blames Ayva's burn and Micah's puncture wound on Aeana.

She may have not lit the fire or twist the sword but she is the cause of it.

Eliza comes to the conclusion that the battle ended the way it did because of Aeana's ineptitude. And Eliza was a stubborn woman, when her mind has come to a conclusion, it was almost impossible to sway her from that thought.

To her, Aeana at this moment was less than human trash.

"I-I..." Shocked and shamed, Aeana was stucked in her position, not knowing what to say. It was because all the words struck her pride and mentality deeply.

Instead, while Leonel is hesitating about intervening, Eliza took off her glove.

With her bare hands, she cups Aeana's face, the red mark still visible.

Suddenly, Eliza's hand was hot to the touch.

"Ah! AH-"

Aeana flinches back due to the sudden heat only to be grabbed by the smaller woman again, her hand slowly morphing into a reddish tint.

"Wait! That's enough Eliza."

Eliza pretended that she didn't hear Leonel. Instead she looks Aeana straight in the eyes.

"They said that the face is every woman's most important asset."

Slowly, one of her finger drags across Aeana's cheeks.

"What would happen if I just crank up the heat a few degree more? It would be very easy, I control the fire after all."

Suddenly, she lets go of Aeana's face and turns away.

"Gets out of my sight and never returns."
