Chapter 38: For Our People

Chapter 38: For Our People

“As I told you, they were very easy.”

“Then we will all go on vacation!”.

“I would like to go to Miami.”

“I always wanted to know New York.”

“We got our Visas!”.

“I can’t wait.”

“This will be the best vacation of our lives.”

“The day has finally arrived, Christopher.”

...

The dark cloak that covers the world is that darkness called night, it is the one who anxiously awaits the confrontation of the poor creatures.

At night, anything goes: protect your friends and kill your enemies. Betray your friends and join the enemy.

The creatures of the night begin to stir, fearful prey rest in fear, and the beasts of the night wait to bite their necks.

A deathly silence prevails in the deepest corners of this gloomy landscape, bathed in the faint moonlight that shines equally brightly.

The moon is the only judge of the night, witness to your atrocities and yet it will not judge your acts of evil.

Oh, terrible night! Have mercy on us, do not judge us for our actions, because we only want them to return alive and live-in peace.

...

The large trees, the striking vegetation and the surroundings so full of life lost all their color in the infinite darkness.

The darkness was responsible for turning off the color of the world, highlighting only the color of the night.

Finally, the voices of the inhabitants of the night world echoed, implying that this dark world belongs to them.

A thousand animals and insects showed off and sang their song vigorously, one more than the other. At the same time, this doomed them because their predators were able to locate them. A clear example was that of a Starry Plumage Owl.

It is a beautiful magical beast that, with its fluttering, left behind a faint trail of dust from the skies caused by its magical and peculiar plumage, which resembled a beautiful and bright starry sky.

This magical beast was carefully observing a snake that could soon become its dinner. And finally, after a short period of time, the magical beast seemed to have finished its calculations and, making its beautiful wings work, it took flight, heading towards its prey.

Just moments away from achieving its goal, the Starry Plumage Owl was forced to stop its flight and take to the skies as fast as it could, losing its chance to hunt the snake.

Meanwhile, a powerful blow from an axe ended the life of the aforementioned snake, ending its career as a predator.

“I did well to kill this snake, it is very poisonous.”

The wind blew, moving the distant branches, and with it the faint moon rays illuminated the owner of that voice: A man with a rough appearance who, bending down, picked up his axe and did not lose sight of the head of the now dead snake.

The man did not want to make the grave mistake of stepping on it and being poisoned. “If it bit me, I would be in very serious trouble. I do not have any antidote for this snake's bite.”

The man looked towards the bushes that moved in the gentle night breeze.

“There are many extremely poisonous animals and magical beasts in these woods.” He sighed as he looked out at the endless sea of leaves around him. “I must be more aware of my surroundings. I don’t want to have the misfortune of having some poisonous thing end my life. It would be a real shame to die that way.”

The man sighed with a hint of boredom mixed with stress. He then turned his attention to one side, pointing with his eyes at a strange symbol drawn on the ground. Who knows the meaning of those strange words?

“I don’t understand why they make me guard the detection seal. Wouldn’t it be better to leave it alone?” The man scratched the back of his neck, determined to continue his guard and hover around the very important seal. “With me here, I highly doubt anyone would dare to attack. After all, it would be the last thing they would try because I will kill them all.”

And he said it exuding quite a bit of self-confidence, although his intimidating muscles could back up every word he said, he looked experienced or at least gave that impression “(sigh) but who am I to contradict our leaders, after all, they are the smart ones.”

From one moment to the next, that man stopped feeling absolutely everything: his limbs, his taste, his smell and everything else.

As strange as it seemed, his vision seemed to have gone crazy, as from one moment to the next he began to spin, unable to distinguish between heaven and earth, above and below. His field of vision spun uncontrollably, the world seemed to have become a dark blur where only the faint moonlight rays, like lines of light, were visible to him.

Then, as if from a fountain of water, blood gushed out from the still standing body. The man's decapitated head was thrown a few meters to one side, spinning uncontrollably, the cut was perfect.

According to many adventurers, knights and people in other professions, a decapitated person can maintain consciousness for a few seconds after their heads have been cut off.

No one knows for sure whether this information is credible or not, but before the man's world turned into eternal darkness, and his eyes closed forever, he managed to look directly into the eyes of the one who has become the executioner who caused his premature death.

Standing in front of the decapitated body, with a sword extended to the side, splattered and bathed in blood, was a half-human from the reptile clan whose slanted eyes did not reflect the slightest hint of emotion or compassion. Poking his forked tongue in and out, the half-human managed to utter the final words directed at that wretched and cursed existence.

“So, you're going to kill us all?”

And the head fell to the ground and rolled until it was lost in the darkness.

“Quick, hold the body!”

Another hidden voice came from the shadows.

Using his good reflexes, the demi-human from the reptile clan quickly grabbed the inert body before it fell back and complicated or perhaps ruined the mission, since the point of impact would be right above the detection seal.

“If something falls on the seal, everything will be lost.”

“Understood,” the demi-human felt and threw the body to the side, precisely into the bushes, hiding it so that no mercenary ally could find it.

“Do you think there are sound traps hidden in this area as well?” the demi-human from the reptile clan asked, swinging his sword to the side again, thus getting rid of the remains of blood dripping from his sword.

“If that is so,” his companion, an Elf with long greenish hair, crouched down, studying and analyzing the seal. “Those in charge of finding those traps would have already notified us, so if they didn't, it's because they haven't found any yet, which is still a good thing.”

“I see,” the demi-human replied, delving deeper into the seal on the ground.

By now I had seen a few of these seals deactivated, so I vaguely remembered what the previous ones looked like.

Unconsciously, his mind compared all the previous detection seals to the one in front of him, realizing that there was a difference. “I don’t have a vast knowledge of seal magic or how to make them, but this one seems to be different from the others, it seems to be more difficult to destroy.”

“And it is,” the Elf replied, meticulously using seal magic, writing and creating a new one right next to it.

“Seal Magic: Seal Breaking.”

The Elf used seal magic and cast one at the detection seal.

The two seals seemed to be fighting against each other, the magical scriptures the two possessed trying to overpower each other.

“Tell me not to activate it” out of pure instinct, the demi-human took a few steps back just seconds before giving a warning signal with his hands, but was stopped just in time.

“Don’t worry,” the Elf said calmly, “there’s no way I can’t get rid of a seal as poorly made as this one, look.”

The battle between the two seals ended with the victory of the one created by the Elf, who was ultimately more powerful. “It is true that it was created by someone who possesses good magical ability, but, no more than mine. It was not difficult to decipher the complexity of this detection seal.”

The Elf stood up and looked his companion in the eyes, giving him a lot of confidence: “It is better to continue and not waste time.”

The demi-human nodded just as his forked tongue once again tasted something of the night air. He raised his arm in a sign with a clenched fist, then opened it and waved it forward as if to say, "Let's continue."

It only took a second for all the people hiding in the safety of the darkness, almost erasing their presence, to show themselves and quickly begin their journey.

Stealthily, they ran, camouflaging themselves in the shadows of darkness. This type of scenes and acts did not only occur in this place, but in several locations throughout the forest, which meant that many mercenaries had been killed by Gignit's force so far.

The units went about their business, the teams going to their respective destinations in order to complete the missions. Each team belonging to each unit had a meeting point where they had to meet up with others to begin their part of the operation.

Things were not as easy as they seemed, because as they got closer to the enemy base, everything became more difficult.

The seals were much more complex and better guarded, the sound traps were increasingly difficult to find.

Attacking enemies using darkness as an advantage was still the best offense, but the adversaries were becoming stronger and engaging the custodians in deathmatches became inevitable.

The advance of Gignit's forces left death in their wake.

On the forest floor, lifeless, mangled bodies were visible, body parts scattered everywhere, and lakes of blood that were increasing in depth.

On the Gignit outpost side, the injuries were not long in coming, so far not one casualty, but many wounded. Some even seriously and that was before the next stage of the mission began.

“It’s strange that the beasts don’t attack us” commented a person (a human) while jumping to avoid a magical beast, a fearsome and strong Black Tarantula “What could be happening?”

The magical beast was a huge tarantula as tall as a person.

Large, poisonous fangs dropped a drop of venom onto the ground, melting it. It is impossible to imagine what it could do if it came into contact with just the most superficial layer of skin. Due to its color, it is very difficult to see it at night, making it almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

It has a Moderate-Medium danger level because despite darkness being its best camouflage, it is not usually that strong. Even so, due to its poison it is extremely lethal.

“I fear that this agglomeration of magical beasts will hinder the mission,” added a beastman: a gorilla man wearing heavy armor, “but what you say is true, they are not attacking us and we are within their range.”

“Something fishy is definitely going on.”

...

Spinning with glamour, with her red eyes closed and a smile drawn on her beautiful face which denoted, Epínetre, she dodged anyone who tried to shoot or cut her.

“That’s all you can do?” she said mockingly and as if everything was a piece of cake, she aimed and fired once more the crossbow she had attached to her forearm “stupid humans, do you think you can face me? With that pathetic way of fighting, you will never be able to touch even a nail of this beautiful Damphir.”

Epínetre winked at them as he fired the deadly weapon, embedding the bolt into his opponent that ended his life. Damphir licked her lips and with that action she tasted a few drops of blood that splashed onto her lips.

This was her secret, from time to time and only if Serpio wasn't looking, she used to please her palate with some of her rivals' blood, but only if it managed to reach her mouth.

With a flirtatious look, Espínetre smiled at her opponents. “Who's next?”

The only thing that any of those mercenaries would achieve by facing Espínetre was a very painful death.

The bodies of the defeated were piled one on top of the other.

Arms, legs, fingers and heads lying all over the battlefield.

Eyes, guts, and even brains were seen as she continued to lash out at the idiots who were still trying to eliminate her.

The nauseating, mephitic pool of blood forming beneath your feet was an unmistakable reality of what battles were like, what missions were like, and what one could end up like if you weren't careful.

This life was no joke, there was romance in a life of action and adventure, but there were also unspeakable horrors that would take the mind of more than one person.

All those on Gignit's side who were hiding in the vegetation and above all in the safety of the darkness of the night, witnessed in great detail the chilling and terrifying scene of mutilated bodies.

And very close to those bodies you can see who was supposedly the cause and who was still fighting his opponents, increasing the number of dead enemies.

But none of them looked at the Damphir with displeasure or looks of fear, obviously they believed that the scene was not pleasant to the eye, more than one had already witnessed this type of scenarios and even worse ones and because of that it did not surprise them overly, nor did it make them shrink.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

They didn't even think that the Damphir was a monster, much less did they think badly of her for being a Daemon and that was because this was the harsh reality, that was how fights were and those fights caused deaths.

They were just thankful that someone so strong was on their side, nothing more.

They dedicated themselves to waiting for the moment when Espínetre finished off everyone so they could later destroy the seals and advance again.

...

The enemies surrounded who is perhaps the most beautiful Elf they have ever seen in their lives. That

Valentina wore silver armor, holding a long elven sword and a cloak that was split into two halves.

The mercenaries licked their lips again and again, more than eager to even touch that pale porcelain skin, to taste every inch of that perfect and exciting body, to at least give a lick or a bite to what could be some appetizing, pink nipples.

They were in a state of total ecstasy, restless, because they had never before seen an Elf as beautiful as the one standing just steps in front of them.

“I'm surrounded” Valentina thought to herself without moving a single inch.

Valentina scanned each of her current enemies with her eyes, observing them and studying the situation.

He also began to measure everyone's abilities and magical energy, reaching a conclusion. "The one who is still hiding and analyzing the situation is strong. If I move, it is quite probable that that person will attack me and I want to avoid fighting as much as possible until I reach the enemy base, otherwise I could attract everyone's attention."

The idiots who didn't know Valentina at all approached her without any fear, knowing that one of her hidden companions would have Valentina's hands tied.

"These disgusting idiots," she thought, counting how many of her enemies she would be facing, "there are ten, eleven if we count the one hiding. Doraida, I hope you're able to hit them all, I don't know what the one hiding is capable of, I can't study his movements since his presence is hidden."

Valentina stopped focusing on them, she felt the atmosphere tense.

A failure could put everyone at risk and even the mission itself. “I will give you a warning before it is too late” and she said it with a rather serious face, denoting absolute sincerity “if you take one more step each one of you will die, including the person hiding behind those bushes”.

“She’s good,” the hidden person couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as a couple of drops of sweat appeared on his cheeks.

“Be careful,” the one who seemed to be the leader of them all took a final step forward as he issued his warnings, “it seems she already knows who we…” His eyes widened as something lodged itself right between his eyebrows. He died instantly, then it was his body’s turn to fall to the ground and begin to bleed out.

“I warned you,” Valentina whispered, watching from the front row as each of those guys fell in the same way as the first, crashing hard against the ground.

The black arrows claimed the lives of everyone who surrounded Valentina.

Now, with no one bothering her, she looked ahead, “I really wanted to meet you, my dear coward hiding in the bushes.”

Sarcastically she directed those words at the person who was previously hiding in the bushes.

His strong magical power tried to overcome Valentina's, which was impossible.

“I didn't imagine you were quite an attractive young lady,” Valentina remarked again at her now enemy's hair, “although no more attractive than my Selestia, it's a shame that you're a member of this nauseating organization of criminals.”

“Thank you very much, Elf,” said the young-looking mercenary, one could say that she was around twenty-something years old. “They tell me that very often, especially the husbands of beautiful ladies like you,” replied the mercenary.

Valentina sighed gracefully showing her teeth in a small smile “I highly doubt my Alexander would be interested in a small and inexperienced human girl when he has me” she moved her hair of two different colors, her hair danced in the air causing a strange hypnotic effect -to the most beautiful Elf in this city, who drives him crazy, pleases him and fulfills all his fantasies.

“You never know,” replied the young woman, trying to match the grace and flirtatious attitude that so characterized Valentina, “maybe he would prefer to try someone much younger, and perhaps not older than three hundred years.”

“Three hundred years more experience than you have” Valentina winked at her and gave her a flirtatious smile. The young mercenary swallowed and some annoyance filtered out. Valentina was bothering her more than she thought “but I insist that will not happen” smiling almost with pleasure Valentina closed her eyes in a friendly gesture “but if you insist so much, do you want me to introduce you to him?”

-Y-You will do it?-

“No...” she said, her face denoting nothing but seriousness and serenity, as she once again took on a more appropriate attitude for the situation and stopped playing with her young opponent. She would not use her beloved bow, but rather the sword that was tied to her waist, which radiated an indescribable amount of magical energy.

“Answer me something,” Valentina’s serious voice caused the mercenary to swallow, “just in case you are “The Cantarina Sadist?”

“May I know the reason why you are looking for that woman?” the mercenary answered the question by asking another.

Valentina clenched her fists and slowly lost her patience, “your answer already confirms to me that you are not that person, but it seems that you know her, right?”

“Who knows,” he replied.

“If you don't feel like telling me what you know, start preparing for me to extract all the information you have about VARANUS.”

Valentina said, and at that moment something passed very close to her cheeks, making a few strands of her hair dance. It was a black arrow heading towards the young woman. The black arrow camouflaged itself extremely well among the shadows.

But something happened that Doraida, who had fired the shot, would never have expected. The woman dodged her deadly arrow by taking a step back just at the last hundredth of a second.

“It was more than obvious that you wouldn't be alone wandering through these woods” the mercenary jumped back again obeying her strong instincts, a total of five black arrows stuck in the ground.

The woman looked at the arrows and a cold sweat ran down her neck because she knew who it was. “Black arrows... it's her” thought the mercenary turning her attention back to the front “I'm really sorry to be a coward, I would like to continue chatting with you about your dear husband, but I'm not willing to die at the hands of «Doraida of the Black Arrows» it's possible that I won't be able to dodge any more arrows from her.”

Valentina frowned. “They know a lot more about my people than I would have liked.”

“My companions will find out about your presence in the forest,” with that, the woman ran and jumped back, trying to escape and giving her all she could to head towards the safety of her base. Ready to inform everyone and prepare an attack plan, “all of you will die without any remedy.”

“Doraida! That woman can’t escape, it would be very bad for all of us!” Valentina shouted the moment the aforementioned woman passed very close to her following the orders given.

Doraida knew that this person could not escape because he could notify the entire organization and things would become more complicated than anyone could imagine.

With her face reflecting absolute dedication to her current goal, she began to pursue the now fugitive woman.

“You two, accompany her. You must get rid of her before she alerts her companions” further orders issued by Lady de Gignit.

“Yes, Lady Valentina!” shouted two people, a demi-human and a human woman heading towards their new mission.

“From here on, the situation will get more and more complicated, we have no time to waste” Valentina pointed towards the seal which was located above the trunk of a thick tree “I will continue with my thing, I will go help the teams that may be in trouble, make sure to destroy all the detection seals and sound traps that are set up in this area, then we will meet up with the main units and begin the massive attack.”

Nobody screamed with euphoria or did anything stupid.

They just nodded, willing to follow Lady Gignit's orders, and watched as she left the place. The reason was obvious: they might attract attention, and that would be a very serious mistake.

Not even PORCELAIN-rank adventurers would commit such a mortal sin for this type of situation.

While Valentina went about her business, some teams had trouble destroying the detection seals because they encountered very strong mercenaries and had no other option but to engage in combat.

“Please,” she thought, jumping from one branch to another. “Christopher, Selestia, be very careful.” Her children were already old enough to be considered adults, but still, worry dominated her integrity.

But who would blame her? She is a sweet mother who will always see her children as her little children. How could she not be worried about them? Even though they were adults, she saw them as the most valuable and important thing she had in life.

Her heart was beating too hard, the extreme worries her soul had to endure was madness.

Blood dripped from her lips the moment she bit them. “My love,” she thought of Alexander’s smile. “Please come back to me.”

With the latter, he left all such ideas completely aside. The current mission was paramount and above all else.

Valentina was not part of any of the units, she moved from one to the other. She was more of a support, even though she was the leader. She didn't do it on purpose, trying to be close to her children. But she had to encourage all the units, it was more for morale, seeing the Lady of the city helping everyone motivated more than one to continue forward.

...

Even though the real battle hadn't started yet, small skirmishes were taking place in the surroundings, and one could easily see the moment when lives were cut short forever. A very annoying threat had emerged around these surroundings: the Zombies.

“Just make sure you don’t go on land,” a team leader warned. “Zombies tend to be very annoying, if all those guys chase us, we might be detected.”

“Would it be wise to take them all out?” asked an adventurer living in Gignit. “There are only twenty of them. I think the six of us could get rid of them all without any of them seeing us.”

"It's very risky," replied another of his companions. "In my opinion, just two of us would be more than enough." The leader nodded at what the man had mentioned. "While we take care of that, the others could keep watch to make sure that no enemy is pointing their weapons at us."

“Sounds like a good idea to me,” said the leader, “then I’ll leave it up to you two, but don’t take more than two minutes, because today we don’t have time as an ally, and above all, don’t use a single magic attack, our enemies could sense it and that would be disadvantageous for us.”

“Yes sir!” they both exclaimed, coming down from the trees, still hidden.

The Zombies didn't notice anything. They continued with their business, growling and looking for some unsuspecting prey to devour.

They both looked at each other and stealthily proceeded to decapitate every Zombie that crossed their paths.

“I know there has been talk and warnings about zombies,” the leader was in a pensive state, “but where do they come from so much, what the hell are those guys doing in their damn base.”

...

“Guys, move as stealthily as possible,” Neledia ordered in a low voice but loud enough for everyone to be able to hear her. “Our enemies could be hiding in any of these bushes. We can’t afford to be discovered.”

“Yes ma’am!” they exclaimed in whispers, now adjusting to the new way of navigating the environment.

Their steps did not make the slightest sound, causing Neledia to smile with satisfaction without anyone seeing them. They knew how to capture, follow and carry out orders in a matter of seconds. Truly something worthy of admiration, even though it was their first mission of this kind.

The group advanced in total stealth, using the darkness and the sounds of nature to their advantage, camouflaging themselves even better due to the dark clothes they all wore.

“Neledia” Mathias called out as his ears twitched and his serious expression doubled, simultaneously camouflaging the anxiety that like lightning pierced his integrity. He narrowed his eyes as if they were serving as binoculars and looked straight ahead, seeing nothing but darkness, but his ears told him something else: “I heard something.”

He was wearing a tight black sleeveless vest, leaving his arms exposed, thus showing all the wounds and scars he had on his skin as a result of his fight to the death just a few days ago and the life of adventurer he had led some time ago.

The special gauntlet fitted snugly to the arm and hand, the special claws were retracted, eagerly waiting to be used. Strapped to the left side of the vest was a hunter's knife, protected in its sheath.

Baggy pants also in black, a belt held them quite tightly.

Attached to these and, as expected, a few throwing knives, there was also a small bag similar to a fanny pack, who knows what he keeps there. On the sides of his pants were pockets that seemed to be empty, but he probably hides some things there.

Finally, the very characteristic ornament on the tail, the same as the one used by Neledia.

The greaves seemed to be quite special and at the same time more elastic, this is due to the possibility of it adopting its beastly form.

Their boots were the same, specially designed for demi-humans to be able to adopt beastly form, they even had strange lines, these marked the area from where the claws of their feet or paws would emerge.

The same thing happened with Neledia, her ears moved in tune with the strange sounds they picked up in the distance, specifically in the direction where they were now heading and changing course was not an option.

“Yes, I heard that too,” Neledia replied. “They must be further forward, and I think there is more than one.”

“Likewise- the semi-human's statement alerted the others greatly, now with their eyes scanning from left to right, up and down trying to find possible enemies “I pick up loud noises coming from that direction, it seems that something or someone is lurking around that area. From the sound I can hear in the distance, it could be our enemies.”

“It is exactly the same thing that I have detected,” commented Neledia. “I wish it were some magical beasts lurking around the area, but I must inform you in advance that the chances of it being those pesky guards are higher.”

“I see,” Christopher said, “that just means it’s our turn to fight.”

“It seems so,” Sebastian joined in, while behind him his sister swallowed, showing a certain air of anxiety and pure nervousness, the drops of sweat that fell down her reddened cheeks were lost forever when he separated from her. “The time has come!”

“So…” Anita murmured, looking ahead. The question that no one wanted to ask but had to be asked was finally asked, “Who of us will go first?”

Suddenly, Mathias's ears and even Neledia's ears once again picked up noises, but each one picked them up in different directions.

“Neledia” once again the demi-human called out to his leader and due to the surprised and anxious faces reflected in his expressions, his friends adopted the same state “there are more! I heard that there might be more of them in that direction.”

“You weren’t the only one,” Neledia added quite seriously. “In this direction I could also hear what could be more of our enemies.”

“Couldn’t it be one of our allies?” Swallowing down the anxiety and fear that Diana is currently feeling, she asked a good question. “Remember that the units were divided and each of them is carrying out their part of the mission, surely it is one of them who is deactivating a seal.”

Very good guess on Diana's part and because of that Sebastian had formed a tiny sly smile which denoted nothing more than pride.

“Exactly,” Neledia concluded, “that possibility exists, and I would really like this to be the case, but unfortunately it is not so...”

For a moment, each of the boys' faces turned into shadows. They wouldn't say it out loud, but they also expected this to be one of those cases. But the reality was different: "This area is not listed as having detection seals or sound traps. Remember that I chose a route in which we would avoid all those traps... you know what that means."

“Yes” the only one to speak was Mathias because the others were extremely anxious “there is no point, we must fight”.

They stopped, Neledia decided to stop and make some preparations, but before giving any orders Christopher got ahead of her, looking very seriously at his companions who even looked scared "they already told us about this, we knew that sooner or later this would happen and being that way, it is better that it happened now" they all looked at him.

“In fact, this situation, that Neledia and Mathias were able to capture those who are probably our enemies was nothing more than a tremendous stroke of luck, a very good one indeed.”

“A good opportunity? What do you mean?” Selestia asked.

“Imagine that we are already inside the enemy base and our hands are still shaking when it comes to...” he had to pause for a very brief moment to think about what he was saying, a real outrage if they asked him “kill our enemies” but there was no other option.

“I understand,” Sebastian nodded, his eyes opening a little more than normal. “What you’re trying to say is that this is our chance to get rid of that fear and those horrible feelings that come with killing someone.”

Looking anxious but determined, Christopher continued, “That's right, let's do it now, this is the life we've chosen. This is the life that awaits you if you want to be an adventurer, Diana. It's about time we get fully into our life as adventurers and respond to what our governors have requested, liquidate the VARANUS criminal organization and all its members.”

Obviously, no one would make a fuss or noise about the fact that they had to go and kill every enemy they found in front of them, not even Christopher would be in that kind of mood, but at least he motivated them and even opened their eyes.

“Don’t choose the life of an adventurer just because your brother has chosen it, Selestia,” Valentina commented in the Elf’s memories. “The life of an adventurer is hard, and just as it is full of ecstasy, fun, and adventure, it is also full of suffering, hardship, and horrors that you will wish you had never seen.”

“I’m not doing it for him,” she replied. “I’m doing it for myself, because I want to see what lies beyond our city and discover how beautiful and horrifying Kosmos can be.”

...

“And I’m still thinking about it, Mom,” Selestia muttered to herself, “you’re right, brother, this is our chance.”

Anita nodded, her eyes now showing a certain determination. The same went for Mathias, who sighed, feeling like the air he was now breathing was no longer mentally suffocating him.

Meanwhile, Diana melted while watching and admiring the person she was in love with.

Her feelings only grew with every word spoken by the target of her feelings, “Christopher.” She thought to herself, feeling true admiration for him.

Her feelings were no joke, she was truly in love with Christopher and always did everything she could to get his attention. But there was a reason why he could never accept Diana's feelings, besides the fact that he wanted to be with someone of another race, he always saw Diana as a younger sister.

It was impossible for her to accept her feelings and see her in any other way, but still, she wouldn't give up.

“I’m very sorry to have interrupted you, Neledia,” said the young lord, somewhat embarrassed, “but I had to get out everything I had stored up inside me.”

“Don’t worry,” Neledia looked very satisfied. “In fact, you did very well, my young Lord. I would have simply sent you off to fight to the death, but even though I knew the mood and anxiety you were carrying, I hadn’t planned any words of encouragement for you.”

He gave a sigh of satisfaction, “you beat me there, my young Lord.”

She took her stance again: “Even though it may not seem like it, I am not very good at motivational speeches, but please, don’t give up and above all, don’t die, as I told you: I love you all very much and I will drown in sorrow if just one of you doesn’t come back.”

“Don’t worry, Neledia,” Selestia smiled at her, “we have too many reasons to come back.”

“You must be present at our wedding” Anita and Mathias showed her engagement ring “you will be one of my bridesmaids”.

“We still have to do many other missions with you,” Sebastian smiled at her as well.

The only one who didn't say anything was Diana, she just nodded at this moment.

“Then it’s time to continue with our mission, we will divide into three teams” everyone nodded “it would be best if you formed a team of three and I went alone” again everyone nodded to the orders “then guys, we will meet in this same place once you finish your objectives, I wish you success.”
