Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Draven was pissed. He wanted to go after Raylen, but Nero wished to rescue his family first. But while they were hunting for Nero's family, Raylen was still alive, inflicting evil on the world.

Sygvar turned to Draven, "Wake up, the female mystic."

Draven sighed. He connected himself to the Weave. He then bound the Thread for Wakefulness and wove a simple spell.

The spell woke the female Mystic up. She looked around in a daze and then started struggling in her restraints. "Let me go!" she yelled at Draven.

Sygvar stepped forward. He bound threads for Trust, Loyalty, Compliance, and six others. He wove the nine Threads into a spell, connecting his Essence to the Weave for the final piece of the spell. He launched the spell at the female Mystic. The spell dissolved into her head. Her eyes glazed over, and a happy smile came across her face.

Sygvar turned to Nero and gestured towards the female Mystic, "Go ahead and ask any question you want."

Nero cleared his throat, "Where is my family?"

She giggled, "I don't know."

Nero scowled, "Fine, then where do you keep your prisoners?"

"In the prison, duh."

Nero sighed, "Do you know where the prison is?"

"Yeah, it's on this floor. I can guide you there if you want."

Nero nodded; he pulled the woman up and onto her feet. Then, she cut the restraints around her legs. But left the ones that bound her arms behind her back. "Lead the way."

"Okay," she smiled and began walking.

Nero, Draven, and the rest followed after her.

Draven and the rest stopped as they neared a gigant blast door guarded by armed men. The guards stopped talking amongst themselves and stared at the new arrivals.

"What are you all doing here?" the lead guard stepped forward, his eyes shifting from person to person. He then stopped and stared at the bound female Mystic. "I wasn't told we had another prisoner coming today." He then turned around to one of his men. Boris, do we have another prisoner?!?"

The short guard pulled out his phone and began to search the records on the device. "No, Travis."

Travis then turned back to Draven and co, "Then what the fuck are you all doing here? And why do you need so many people to escort one person?"

"My apologies," Sygvar stepped forward. He held onto the female mystic and pushed her towards the prison door guards. "We just apprehended her downstairs in the club. She's a mystic spy sent by the government. You know how powerful and tricky mystics are, so we had to be cautious and increase the number of her escorts."

"Huh," Travis nodded skeptically. And how come I haven't seen you around before?" The four guards behind Travis stepped forward to support their leader.

All this talking was irritating Draven. It was taking far too long. He confidently strutted towards the door guards, quiet and staring directly at Travis as he approached the man.

Travis took a step back and placed his hand on the pistol at his waist. "Keep your distance until we can confirm who you are," he said.

Draven flashed Travis a smile. At the same time, Essence erupted from his core and flooded his body. His eyes and the Sygaldry tattooed around his body began to glow red. Draven closed the gap between him and Travis in a second. Before the guard leader could react, Draven punched him. Knocking Travis out.

"Damn it, Draven, I was talking him down," Sygvar voiced from behind.

The remaining four guards were stunned. Wide eyes stared at their unconscious leader. Then, they reached for their pistols.

"Your talking was taking too long, and he was already suspicious," Draven replied. He arrived in front of the guards before they could point their guns at him, knocking each out with a clean blow to the chin. "There, now we can get going."

Sygvar shook his head as he pushed the female Mystic towards the door. Pami rushed forward toward the computer console next to the door. Her fingers blurred as she accessed the computer system. A few seconds later, the metal blast doors slid open.

Inside was a table of five guards playing card games. They each stopped what they were doing and stared at the new arrivals. Then they saw the knocked-out entrance guards. They sprang into action. Three drew pistols at their waists and pointed them at the intruders. Meanwhile, the remaining two drew swords and channeled Essence. The first glowed green with Essence, and the second glowed blue with Essence.

"Don't move!" one of the mystics yelled.

"You want to solve this one with diplomacy?" Draven asked.

Sygvar shook his head and drew his sword. Essences surged out of him, and a faint golden glow emanated from his body. Sygvar pushed the female mystic prisoner to the side and rushed the guards. Draven followed his master's lead.

The three guards, wielding pistols, opened fire at Draven and Sygvar. Their bullets bounced off a small telekinetic shield erected by Draven and Sygvar's minds.

Draven rushed the gun-wielding guards first, knocking them out with swift blows to the head. Then the mystics split up, one going for Draven and the other for Sygvar.

Ice began to condense around the body of the mystic guard sprinting towards Draven. Draven Sympatheticly bound his arm and the mystic guard together. He shot his arm up, throwing the guard into the ceiling. He then shot his arm down, slamming the guard into the floor. Draven pulled his arm towards him, and the mystic flew towards him.

Draven released the Sympathetic bound and grabbed the guard by the throat. The man was a bloody mess; the ice that had been formed around his body was broken into pieces. His eyes shot open, and he punched Draven in the face with an icy fist. Draven's grip around the Mystic's neck relaxed, and the mystic broke free.

The Mystic kicked Draven backwards, creating space between them. He then pointed his palm at Draven's face and sprayed a blast of snow at Draven's eyes.

Draven screamed as the cold, icy snow landed in his eyes. He rubbed at his eyes, clearing them of the chilling pain. Three thick ice spikes were flying toward him when he opened them again. His parallel mind rushed to erect telekinetic shields to block the attacks. But one of the ice spikes got through, sinking deep into Draven's chest. Draven wrapped a hand around the cold icicle. He grunted as he pulled it free from his body. He dropped the blood-covered projectile to the ground and focused on sealing the wound in his chest.

Draven locked eyes with the ice mystic. The man had once again covered himself in icy armor. Draven propelled himself forward with a telekinetic burst. Essence surged into Draven's hand, and he shot out four force missiles. The armor around the Mystic tanked the projectiles, breaking into tiny pieces but protecting the Mystic underneath.

The blade in Draven's hand pulsed with Essence as Draven channeled even more into the women. He bound the concepts of Sharpen, Flame, and Vibration to his blade. Draven's sword became sharper, and the blade began to heat up and vibrate. The Essence Draven channeled into the blade was being burned up, maintaining the Sympathetic bindings.

Draven struck fast and hard. The ice mystic barely blocked Draven's attack, buckling under the strength of the blow. Draven moved quickly, delivering another strick to the ice mystic's leg. The blow blew past the icy armor and cut straight through the Mystic's leg.

The mystic collapsed to the ground, screaming as he clutched his leg. Draven charged up a telekinetic blast and launched it at the Mystic's head. Knocking the guard out.

Draven looked over to Sygvar. His master was stuffing the Mystic he had defeated into one of the lockers in the room. Draven picked up the ice mystic and did the same as his master. Then they both went, picked up the rest of the guards, and stuffed them into lockers. The female Mystic that guided them here was also stuffed into a locker. They returned to find Pami on the computer console.

"Did you find anything?" Sygvar asked.

Pami shook her head and broke her gaze away from the screen. "You startled me. Yes, I found where they are keeping Nero's family. It looks like they have them locked up in cell A-9. The report says that they were placed into cryopods."

"Then let's get moving," Nero said as he walked further into the prison. The rest followed after them.
