Chapter 12

Chapter 12

The hospital attached to City Hall was busier than usual. Draven and Sygvar continued towards the reception area along the far wall. The nursing staff sat behind a glassed-off area behind the desk, keeping patients quarantined from the staff.

Draven approached one of the nurses who was typing at her computer, "We need medical assistance."

The nurse stopped what she was doing and stared hard at Draven momentarily. "Can't you see I'm working on something right now?"

Draven smiled through the irritation he was feeling. "I can see that. But my master and I just got done fighting in a battle, and we urgently need medical assistance."

The nurse stood from her chair and looked Draven and Sygvar up and down. "You both look pretty much okay to me. You can wait a little longer until I finish with my work." She then sat back down and started typing at her computer once more.

Draven started grinding his teeth, "You listen-"

Sygvar placed a hand on Draven's shoulder. "Yelling at her will get you nowhere. Just let her finish."

Draven scoffed, "Fine."

The nurse smirked with satisfaction. Draven swore that she purposefully took longer than necessary to enter the document into her computer. When finally done, she turned to Draven with a big smile.

"What can I do for the both of you?"

"We need a medical evaluation, and then we need to be healed." Draven slides his card over, identifying him as an Al'Manti. Sygvar handed Draven him, and Draven gave it to the nurse.

"Oh, two Al'Manti. I'm honored by both of your presence." The nurse took both of their cards and then went back to typing on her computer. When done, she returned to Draven and Sygvar, handing them back their cards. "I booked you in room 315 on the third floor with Doctor Minito and Nurse Kimiko."

Draven snatched his card and gave the receptionist nurse a dirty look. He then stormed off towards the stairs leading to the higher levels.

"Thank you," Sygvar said with a smile before catching up with his disciple.

The doors to room 315 automatically opened when Draven and Sygvar approached. The room was bright; white LED lights illuminated the interior of the medical room. The room and the equipment inside were primarily white in appearance. Two people were inside waiting for them.

The first was a bald man dressed in a white lab coat with red highlights. The name Doctor Minito was stitched in his coat in red lettering. He looked up from the tablet in his hand. Black goggles were attached to his face, as was a black breathing apparatus over his mouth. It hissed as the doctor breathed in and out. "Ah, you both must be our patients. Come over and have a seat." Two chairs ascended from the floor after the doctor spoke.

Draven and Sygvar took their respective seats. The chairs were comfortable, with soft cushions. Draven looked to his left. There, he found a screen displaying his vitals and an array of other medical statuses.

The other person in the room stepped into Draven's view. She smiled, revealing two rows of straight white teeth. "Hi, I'm Kimiko." She shook both Draven's and Sygvar's hands. Draven was taken aback and blushed. Kimko was beautiful, but Draven could not keep himself from staring. She wore a white shirt and pants with red highlights. She had on a pair of glasses.

Sygvar nudged Draven. "Stop acting like an idiot and say something," Sygvar whispered.

Draven cleared his throat, "Nice to meet you, Kimiko. How long does this take? We have to go meet Mayor Nero soon."

"We'll see," she began to type commands into her tablet. First, we have to scan your bodies to determine what treatments we need to give each of you."

An arm from Draven and Sygvar's chair popped out from the side of the chair. A device at the end of the appendage pointed itself at Draven, and a blue light scanned Draven's body. When it was done, it slid back away into the chair.

Doctor Minito stepped forward and looked up from his tablet. "It looks like the both of you sustained significant injuries." He projected a holographic image of both Draven and Sygvar. The computer highlighted several red areas on each of their bodies. "With the both of you being Al'Manti, I'm sure you both have mastery over Body Supremacy. But it looks like you both healed your injuries partially incorrectly. I've seen this happen to other mystics; you can't heal perfectly in battle. A full recovery will require two days of continuous treatment."

Sygvar laughed, "We can't do two days of continuous treatment. We have to report to Mayor Nero, and then we have to stop the rebels from causing even more chaos in Urith."

Kimiko shook her head. "How can you stop the rebellion when you're not at your full fighting capacity?"

"If we don't get back out there now, the rebels will have more time to enact their plans. We need the quickest healing solution that you got." Draven said.

Doctor Minito sighed, "You, Al'Manti, are so stubborn. But we can give you a nanite gel bath if you want to heal quickly. It will be quick and painful but will not heal you to your peak capacity."

Sygvar nodded, "I understand. Just give us that, and we will be on our way."

The doctor turned to Kimiko, "Prep two tanks."

She nodded and entered a series of commands into the tablet. Two cylindrical tanks rose from the ground. Green fluid began to fill the tank. A set of ladders ascended to the top of the tank. Kimko then walked over to a cabinet and retrieved two medical vests. "Undress and then put on these before getting into the tanks." She handed a vest to Draven and Sygvar.

Draven got up from the chair he was in. He placed his sword on the chair. He then removed the various pieces of clothing he was wearing until he was in his underwear. With that done, he put on the medical vest and the breathing mask attached to it.

Kimko came around, tightening the vest and then connecting three tubes to it. She came around front to face Draven, a syringe in her hand. She went to grab Draven's arm, but he pulled back.

"I don't need a sedative," Draven said.

Kimko shrugged, "Okay."

Draven climbed the ladder leading up his tank and stared into the green liquid below.

"It's better if you just dive in all at once," Kimko said with a smile.

Draven turned around and smiled down at her, "Thank you." Draven knew that already; he had nano gel baths before, and it still hurt the same each time. But he was being polite.

Draven jumped into the tank, his body submerged in the green liquid. The bath was freezing, but the pain of the nanites working on his injuries was hot. He fought back a scream that almost escaped his lips. He clenched his teeth. He crossed his legs and started to meditate. Draven focused on blocking out as much of the pain as he could. He dove into the Weave, listening for knowledge that might aid him in his future endeavors.

After some time, a beeping sound broke Draven out of his meditative state. He opened his eyes; the green liquid around him had turned a dull grey. The medical bath was slowly drained from the tank, leaving Draven sitting on the tank floor. Draven climbed the ladder on the inside of the tank and exited the tank. Once outside, he removed the medical breathing mask and vest. Kimko handed him a towel he used to clean himself with.

"You can join your master and shower over there," Kimko pointed towards two showers. One was already occupied by Sygvar. The curtains were drawn to hide his naked body.

Kimko handed him another towel, soap, and his clothes. Draven went over to the showers. Inside was a compartment to keep his clothes dry. He placed his clothing and towel inside and closed it. He turned on the water. It was cold at first but quickly grew warm. Draven used the bar of soap to quickly clean his body. He then dried himself off and put on his clothes before stepping out of the shower.

"I really must recommend that you both take the full treatment," Doctor Minito said as Draven and Sygvar were about to leave. The doctor's eyebrows shot up, "How about you two visit the Mayor, and then after you both are done, you come back here to receive the full treatment."

Sygvar sighed, "Sure, we'll do that. Now, can we please go?"

"Yes," the doctor smiled, let the duo pass him, and left the medical room.
