Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Draven shot up from the ground, standing on his two feet. He took a combat stance and lashed out with a swift kick aimed at Mydren's head.

Mydren raised his arm to block Draven's kick, his smile never leaving his face. He grabbed Draven's leg and picked him up from the ground.

Draven channeled essence into his other leg and stomped down hard on Mydren's face and hands, which held Draven's other leg.

Mydren howled out in pain but held onto Draven and slammed him into the table. The wooden table broke into two halves from the impact. The drinks, food, and cards slide down onto Draven in the center.

Draven was livid, he was wet and stank of alcohol. Flames blossomed around his form, burning away the unpleasant stink of alcohol and the wetness from the drinks. He decided he was done playing around.

A jet of fire propelled Draven forward. He threw an enhanced punch, landing in Mydren's stomach.

The rebel flew back, colliding with several other patrons. By now, a crowd was forming around the dueling pair, watching the fight with excitement in their eyes. Mydren got to his feet with a scream. He punched his way through the people blocking his path. Some of them tried to retaliate, but he deflected their blows, allowing them to hit other people nearby. So, different people were fighting against each other, and the fighting spread like wildfire.

Mydren arrived in front of Draven. "That felt great. Now that we're going all out, the real fun can begin." Mydren smiled as he ran at Draven.

Draven dodged a blow aimed at his head. Then, I took one in the gut. He brought his arm up just in time to block a kick from Mydren. The blow knocked him back a few steps, and Draven collided with the crowd gathering around him.

Mydren was charging straight towards him again. Draven was about to engage the man again but stopped once he remembered the plan. The mission came first. Draven grabbed one of the bystanders near him and threw them at Mydren.

Mydren backhanded the poor soul, sending them out of his way.

Draven retreated further into the crowd, with Mydren chasing after him. Draven threw more people at Mydren. Who attacks them, his attacks lashing out at other people around him also.

Draven looked around while running. The fighting had spread to a significant part of the casino's third floor. By now, hundreds were fighting against each other, partly compelled by the spell that prompted them to give in to their base desires. Most of the guards on the third floor were swarming the fighting mob, trying to gain control of the situation.

Draven stopped, allowing Mydren to close in on him. Mydren threw a quick jab at Draven. Draven caught the attack and then pinned Mydrens arm behind the man's back. "Our part is done. Now stop trying to fight me, and let's make our way over to Sygvar and Pami. OK?"

"Sure, OK." All the anger on Mydren's face disappeared in an instant, and Draven let go of the man. The two quickly navigated through the mob, heading towards Sygvar and Pami, waiting at the fourth-floor door. Draven felt a hand on his shoulder, stopping him from continuing forward.

"Wait, the guards are gaining control of the mod," Mydren said from behind him. "We need to stop them before they destroy our distraction."

Draven looked around. The guards were indeed gaining control of the situation. Using batons and pepper spray to incapacitated violent cilentel. "You're right. Let's split up and stop some of them. We need the brawl to grow a little more, then it will be too big for them to stop."

Mydren nodded and split from Draven. He disappeared in the crowd, weaving around various fights taking place. Draven scanned the third floor, locking eyes on a group of guards working together to get the mob under control. Draven bound the Threads of strength, speed, and durability to his body and charged the guards. He accelerated his perception of time using Mind supremacy, and the world slowed. Draven weaved around the various people between him and the guards, dodging bodies and items in his way.

Draven reached the guards and punched the first one in the chin. The poor bastard flew into the air and landed some feet away, knocked out cold. The others all turned their attention to Draven, releasing the various people they were handling. Each of their batons was buzzing with electricity, they sensed Draven was dangerous and circled around the young man, waiting for an opening. Draven quickly counted them; twenty guards were surrounding him.

Three of them charged Draven together. The first yelled as he swung his electric baton toward Draven's head. Draven led to the side, dodging the attack. The guards' momentum carried him forward. Draven grabbed his head and slammed him to the ground, cracking the tile underneath and knocking the guard into a deep slumber. The two other guards attacked in unionism, batons racing toward Draven's head and torso.

Draven enhanced the time dilation effect mind supremacy was giving him, the guards slowing to a crawl. He then bound all his threads to speed. Moving swiftly between the attacks of the guard and changing there directions so that their electric batons would hit each other. The guards gain speed once more as Draven lets go of the enhanced time perception effect, a migraine forming at the back of his head. The batons of the guards hit each other, eletricuting each of other and then falling to the ground unconscious.

"Is that all you got," Draven turned to face the rest of the guards. "It will take more than that to bring me down." With a burst of kinetic force, Draven rocketed towards the guards surrounding him.

The guard directly in his path panicked and collapsed to the ground. Once Draven was directly over him, Draven expelled another blast of kinetic energy, sending him directly downwards. He twisted and positioned his knee down. Draven's knee landed in the ribs of the guard, causing a sicking snap of bone to sound. Blood flew from the guard's mouth as he yelled out in pain.

Draven spasmed in pain as three stun batons made contact with his. Draven screamed, charging up essence and converting it into kinetic energy. Draven bound the energy into a tight ball in the center of his begin. More guards joined in, adding their batons to Draven's body. He was stuck in place, more and more electricity arcing through his body. With a monstrous roar, Draven let the kinetic energy explode out. The guards, tasing him, went flying back with the explosion, landing a few feet away from Draven.

Draven stood to his feet, burning holes in his clothes where the stun batons had been smoked with the stench of burning clothes. He looked to the circle of guards surrounding him, counting seven laid down unmoving. Others were beginning to steer from the ground, disoriented from the kinetic blast. Draven hears heavy, metallic footsteps running towards him. Draven turned towards the sound, just in time to receive a solid punch to the face. The blow was heavy, the force caused the tiles underneath Draven's feet to break from the force.

Draven turned to face his new enemy to only take another punch to the gut that sent him clutching his stomach. Another strike hit him in the face, sending his head back. His brain swam with pain as his vision blurred and wobbled. Draven spat out a mouth full of blood to the ground and then yelled with anger. He once more increased his perceptions of time and boosted his speed.

His head swirled around to face his opponent. It was a guard in a military-grade exosuit. The guard was currently delivering a high kick aimed at Draven's head. Draven raised his hand with lightning speed, blasting a kinetic ball of force toward the guard. The guard was knocked backwards and Draven followed. Flames and kinetic energy blossomed across Draven's body. He condensed them into a right hook, aimed directly at the skull of the exosuit guard. The flaming fist exploded in contact with the armor. Breaking the protective helmet around the guard's face. Draven delivered another strike to the guard's faces, knocking them out cold.

Draven scanned his surroundings, finding most of the guards knocked out around him. A few of the others had turned around and fled into the crowd. Draven looked for Mydren, finding the man surrounded by guards. Draven counted forty of them as he rushed to Mydren to help the idiot fighting manic. Four of the guards happened to be wearing exosuits.

Draven exploded a concussive blast of kinetic energy underneath him. He then exploded into the air, high above the crowd of people blocking his way to Mydren. He then exploded another blast of kinetic energy, sending him straight toward Mydren. He landed just in front of Mydren, knocking down the approaching guards in front of the man.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Draven turned around and found Mydren sitting on the ground. He smiled down at the man and reached out a hand, "Missed me?"

Mydren took his hand and Draven pulled the man up. "I had everything under control."

"Sure you did. It didn't look like it to me. From my point of view, it looked like you were losing."

"I was just luring them in so that they would let down their guard," Mydren responded. He turned to face the small army of guards around them. "This would be much easier if I could use my guns," he said.

"Remember why we are here. They are civilians, and they did nothing wrong," Draven said. He channeled kinetic energy and then constructed five kinetic missiles. He launched them towards five guards. They exploded on impact, knocking the guards out.

"I know," Mydren said as he charged the team of guards.

"I guess I'll take the guards in the exosuit armor," Draven said as he generated four more concussive kinetic missiles. Draven ran towards the squad of exosuit guards and fired off his missiles ahead of him. The force missiles knocked them back a bit, leaving no lasting damage.

Draven ran directly at the closest exosuit guard. He immediately used Mind Supremacy to speed up his mind and to boost his reaction time. Draven's leg blurred as he threw out a kick coated in flames and kinetic energy. His leg collided with the helmet of the guard and exploded, the guard went flying, disappearing into the crowd of mob fighting.

Two of the guards attack Draven. One punched Draven in the face, and another kicked him in the thigh. Draven fell to one leg, grunting as his leg went numb. He coated his arm in kinetic force, sharpening it as thin as a razor. He lashed out, stabbing his kinetic blade arm into the foot of one of the guards, the energy shredding through the metal plating guarding his foot. A pool of blood began to form as the guard screamed in pain.

Draven dodged an attack from the other guard. Jumped up and delivered a knee to the chin of the guard he stabbed. He then grabbed the helmet of the other guard and channeled as much kinetic force into the head of the other guard. The man screamed, and then his body collapsed as his mind fell unconscious.

Draven turned to find Mydren, surrounded by regular guards. Fighting it out with all of them with a blood-covered smile on his face. By now, the mod fighting around him had grown so big that it would be difficult for the guards to get it under control. Draven sped towards Mydren and arrived just by hind the men. Draven bound the Threads of strength to his body and used Body Supremacy to enhance his strength further. He picked Mydren up and sped away from the angry guard.

"Hey!" Mydren said as he tried to struggle out of Draven's grasp. "Let me down! I wasn't done with them!"

"Our job here is down. We need to make it back to Sygvar and Pami," Draven said as he weaved through the mob. Soon, the entrance to the fourth four was in his sights, with Pami and Sygvar standing above the door guards knocked out on the ground.

"Took you long enough. I thought you two were having too much fun fighting," Pami said with a smile as Draven and Mydren approached.

"You know, for a faction that pushes for nonviolence, you do love to fight," Draven said towards Mydren.

"Just because we promote nonviolence does not mean we don't know how to fight," Mydren said as he and Draven made their way up the stairs leading to the fourth-floor door.

Sygvar pushed open the door leading to the higher floor. Several people were standing on the stairs leading up. Draven could tell from the Weave that two of them were mystics, and the other five were mortals inside of exosuits wielding guns. The mystic duo looked to be a master and disciple pair. One was male and much older, and the other was a female who looked a few years older than Draven.

They pulled their triggers, and a storm of bullets rained down on them. Draven constructed a barrier of force, and the bullets bounced off the shield.

Sygvar telekinetically wrapped his mind around the guards' guns and pulled them from their grasp. The guns flew towards them, continuing past Sygvar and falling to the ground.

Draven let go of his shield and charged one of the mystics, the female. His fist landed in her gut, causing her to grunt in pain. Draven kicked her in the leg, causing her to fall. He jumped and then aimed a knee towards her head.

The female mystic rolled out of the way. Draven's empowered knee landed on the ground, destroying the stairs under him. The rebel mystic unleashed four blades from her form, each hovering around her in a crescent shape. She launched two of them at Draven; the blades sliced through the air at their target with deadly intent.

Draven jumped and spun, dodged the first blade, pushed off the first blade with his hand, and used the momentum to dodge the second. He channeled flames into his arms and unleashed a blast of fire.

The female mystic dodged. The fireball hit the ground and exploded, lifting the mystic off her feet and into the air.

Draven dove into the Weave and found the thread connecting the mystic to her swords. The Threads were thick, and her bond with them was strong. Draven applied Apathy to those threads, weakening her connection to her blades and interfering with her control of her weapons. Her swords wobbled in mid-air, and the mystic struggled to hold her weapons.

Draven charged her, flames licking the surface of his body. The mystic propelled two of her swords at Draven. He quickly knocked them out of the way with two blasts of telekinesis. He arrived in front of the mystic, punching her in the face. He then kicked her in her side, causing her to collapse to her knees as he clutched her side in pain.

Draven charged up essence into his fist. Flames and kinetic force condensing around his arm. His arm lashed out like lightning straight toward the mystic's head. A faint golden glow manifested around the female mystic. She brought her arms up to defend the head. Flames exploded, knocking the mystic off her feet and back. She struck a wall, embedding her body into the rigid concrete of the wall.

Draven shook his head as he stared at the female mystic pulling herself free from the wall. Whatever ability she had boosted her defense and speed. The gold glow was still around the female mystics when she emerged. She ran at Draven, his eyes barely able to track her with her renewed speed. Draven enhanced his mind with mind supremacy. Slowly, her movements became perceivable to him as he accelerated the rate at which he processed information. He triggered body supremacy to boost his body beyond what a peak human body could do. He charged the female mystic, opening with a low kick.

She dodged, moving even faster than before. She grabbed Draven's leg and twisted, throwing Him from his feet. Draven landed on the ground, hitting his head against the ground. The female mystic sent her blades directly down at Draven's prone form. Draven released a kinetic pulse from his leg, breaking the mystic's grip on him. He rolled out the way, the blades missing him by inches.

Draven jumped to his feet, fired off a kinetic blast, and sent himself backward, distancing himself from the mystic. She was fast, too fast. Whatever she was doing made him faster than his second circle of Body Supremacy alone. He would have to step up his game. Draven fully powered his telekinesis soul matrice. A thin layer of invisible force enveloped his body, coating him in a solid invisible armor that boosted his physical abilities via mental control. He conjured three kinetic force bolts and fired them at the female mystic.

The golden glow enveloping the female mystic began to shine brighter, and she dodged the first two force bolts at superhuman speed. The last one impacted her torso and exploded, throwing her back a foot, but otherwise, she remained unharmed.

She smiled, "Is that all you got?" She ran at Draven, reaching him within seconds. She threw out three lightning-fast jabs, Hitting Draven in the chin, his ribs, and his kidney.

Draven barely felt a thing, the kinetic aura around him blocking most of the damage. The mystic went for a kick, which Draven caught. He warped the telekinetic aura around his fingers into razor-sharp blades and pierced the tough skin of the mystic. She tried to jerk away, but Draven was too strong, and his tactile telekinesis held him in place. With his other hand, flames ignited and wrapped around his fist. He punched the female mystic directly in her torso. The fire exploded on impact with the mystic; she screamed and coughed up blood. Draven repeated this, pounding on her rib cage, breaking a bone, and causing her to cough blood.

Draven let go, and she fell to the floor, groaning and clutching her ribs. Blood pooled from her mouth and nose as she sobbed quietly. With her in no condition to continue fighting, Draven turned to look at his teammates. Sygvar was still fighting the other mystic; Sygvar was calm and fighting the mystic with handy caps, trying not to kill the man. While the other mystics were going all out, he had down his sword and was trying and failing to land a hit on Sygvar. Pami and Mydren had both transformed into their monstrous battle form. Mydren, a hulking red mass of muscle, tore through his opponents. Pami, a purple elegant blur of athletic muscle, weaving between exosuit pilots.

Draven began to make his way over to Pami and Mydren when his connection to the Weave warned him of danger from behind. Draven dodged, and a potion splashed onto the ground where he had just been. He turned around to find the female mystic slowly making her way to her feet, smiling. The ground around Draven erupted and engulfed him. Stone tendrils wrapped around his body, constricting his movement. He empowered his soul matrices to escape, but the stone held him in place. The stone has been magically enhanced.

Draven watched as the female mystic dug into her pocket, retrieved another potion, and ran over to Sygvar and her master.

"Master watch-" A stone tendril wrapped around Draven's mouth, preventing him from speaking. He was helpless, watching as the female mystic threw another potion. It splashed on the ground near Sygvar, and the stone tendrils formed on the ground around him and constricted Sygvar as well.

The female mystic and her master began to form a spell together. Threads from the Weave became visible to Draven's eyes as the two mystics began to weave a complex spell. The two pumped essence into the spell, and a portal manifested. On the other side, Draven saw three Wargoths. But these were not like the standard Wargoths they had fought before; these Wargoths were black and red and much bigger than the other variant. The warped creatures stepped through the portal, and the portal closed behind them. The creatures let out a terrible bestial roar. Pami, Mydren, and the exosuit guards turned to stare at the abominations with terror in their eyes. Then, out of his eye, Draven spied a small man creeping over to Sygvar. As the man neared, he got into Draven's direct sight, and it was Nero with a big golden tooth smile on his face.
