As an HR representative of a reputed company, I witness some of the most touching moments during interviews. This happened very recently.

I had a video interview with a candidate who had completed his technical rounds. The interviewers had already informed me that this guy didn't have the skills required for the job, but I insisted on taking his HR round because it had been a while since I posted on social media, and I was craving a sad yet inspirational story.

As suspected, he lacked essential critical thinking and communication skills, so I asked more questions about his background, and it turned out he had a sorrowful tale. He was a single father; his daughter was in foster care because he had killed her mother, his mother was blind, and his younger sister had a unibrow. I felt so bad after listening to his story. I told him that he would be getting the job.

You can always teach skills to a person, but sad stories like these that will improve my posts' footprint and engagement come very rarely.

Anyway, I ghosted him after that.
