Book 3 - Chapter 65

-- James --

A giant hand was quickly heading towards us. Just one of its fingers was bigger than my entire body, I had a surreal moment as I watched the had come down, where I noticed all the ridges and patterns on the Titan's hand. It was like looking at a human hand just with deeper crevasses. I took all this in in the millisecond I saw it, as everyone scrambled to get away from the fast encroaching hand. How did it find us so fast? We should be so small that our presence on its body should have been unnoticed. I didn't have time to ponder more as I was solely focused on getting away as fast as I could, and since I did not want to go anywhere near its dick, I aimed towards his hip.

It was the correct choice as everyone else had chosen the same route. It would not be good for us to get separated climbing the giant. The world went dark and the wind picked up as its hand passed over us. But I was still in its hand's path, there would be no way I wouldn't be crushed by something of that size even by accident. So I pulled myself up hard launching myself up another twenty feet. Got me right out of the hand's path, as the giant scratched his thigh, where we had landed.

"Are you fucking kidding me? He didn't notice us we just made him itchy."Violet yelled in disbelief.

As he moved his hand away I saw the rest of my team around the hip. We had all avoided the hand. Though everyone was looking on shocked.

"Did he almost accidentally kill us?"Rowan asked in shock.

We needed to move so I said, "Yes. Now everyone starts moving and try not to irritate his skin. I don't want to die from being scratched."

Violet rolled her eyes, "Fucking great. Death by carelessness."

Hand over hand we made our way up the Titans body. Grabbing whatever we could and practically throwing ourselves up ten to twenty feet to another handhold slowly making our way up. This must be what a flee feels like. It was actually kind of fun. Climbing is a lot tougher than most people think, including me. Even with all my levels I never realized how much finger strength it took to constantly hold myself up. I could even feel the muscles in my arms tighten, from gripping to hard. I probably had terrible form making it worse, but we just needed to make it to the top.

I tried to inject some levity into the climb, "Hey guys were fleas." To illustrate my point I flung myself hard nearly gliding up the giant's body.

"How is that helping?" Violet yelled annoyed.

"It's not but it's fun," I answered.

Violet rolled her eyes so hard, I swear I could hear them move. When I looked down at her, her muscles began to grow thicker before she yanked herself up, flying past me.

"Oh, you think your bad?" I flung myself up chasing after Violet. From there it became a race to the top as we threw caution to the wind and began to get a little more rough pushing as hard as we could even using a skill or two to climb up to the top.

During the entire climb, the hand never made another appearance, in fact, the climb was completely smooth, not even the giant moved to throw us off. He must have never even noticed our climb, and as we were reaching the giant's shoulder with no resistance only made me worry more. How were we going to do damage to something so big?

Before I even realized I was soaring in the air over the giant's bare shoulder. Even though we were so close, the ear still felt far away. It was like were in a completely different world, a world of small things and we were now part of it. The skin on the giant was not smooth, covered in small creases and divots, small hairs poking out where on a normal size person they might not be visible but here, it was almost like a field of grass. The wind blew strong at this height and was nearly thrown off before I even landed, but I was able to orient myself and land safe, as the others climbed over the last part of the shoulder.

After taking a minute to look around Rowan asked, "Now what?"

"I'm going, to be honest. I didn't think we'd get this far." I thought for sure something was going to try and stop us on the climb. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a challenge.

Rowan blinked at me before, "That checks out. Ideas people?"

Everyone just looked at each other not sure what to say. Eventually Violet suggested, "Through, the ear to the brain?"

"Then bay destroys the brain with a spell?" I added thinking this had some potential. Turning to Bay for confirmation, she looked to be deep in thought.

"Uh... if its brain is comparable to humans...might need more than one spell."

"Or I could give him a brain aneurysm," Violet commented.

After hearing the suggestion, it sounded like it would pretty much do the same thing, killing the brain. "Is that better?"

Violet shrugged, "...honestly I don't know. Either is kind of fucked up. It's not like he has defenses to this."

I could only agree with her that this entire plan was fucked up. I mean we were about to literally walk into a giant's brain to melt him. But due to its size, I really didn't know if this was honorable or not, and my word didn't nudge me in either direction, "I guess we have a plan."

Not everyone was sure about the plan but it was better than doing nothing so we began to move to the massive head. Since we weren't in a rush at this point we just kind of casually walked towards the head, but when we started to get a little closed I noticed movement in and around the monster's ears.

"What did you say about defenses?" I asked.

"Are those..." Bay trailed off.

"Those are fucking lice!" Violet shouted in disgust.

The first giant white parasite fell from the creature's hairline down to the shoulder and turned to stare directly at us.

I had to say that seeing a giant louse was not something I ever wanted to see. The rotting things were terrifying like a giant ant the size of me with a massive bulbous abdomen and six massive legs all with razor-sharp claws. The mandibles we're just as unpleasant with red dripping from them. Must have just fed. That wasn't even the worst part, there was something about them. Something primal in the back of my brain was telling me that these should not exist, and to either run or kill them.

"Anybody brings lice shampoo?" I asked my voice barely holding together.

"Sorry, your mom used the last of it," Bay commented, catching me off guard.

"Oh, well gonna have to do it the hard way."

The monster crawled along fast, as it approached I lunged forward bringing my sword down in an overhand swing bitting deep into the parasite's carapace, cracking the hard outer chitin and destroying its innards. I wasn't able to bring the weapon all the way through as my sword became stuck as it spasmed nearly knocking the weapon out of my hand in its death throws.

"Uh, victory?" It didn't feel like much of one with how I was thrown around.

"Guys. Did you ever hear of a single louse?" There was panic in Rowan's voice, that did not bode well for us.

"Oh fuck!" I turned looking up near the ear and hairline there was a beast wave worth of parasites on his head, and they were starting to fall. Each and every one of them was staring right at us.

"New plan run to the ear now!" I shouted.
