**Chapter 8: The Other Side of the Depths**

In the dim light of the cave, Samuel, still focused on his interface, was trying to activate the skill "Immortal anger." Despite several attempts, nothing was happening. Disappointed by this inactivity, he decided to set aside this skill to focus on those that seemed more promising: "Muscle Reinforcement" and "Awakened Speed."

Helydia, observing his agitation, conveyed to him telepathically: "Once you finish packing your things, I have a place I would like to show you."

Samuel acquiesced and set about preparing his equipment. He placed healing slimes in his bag and put away the jar of the fire-breathing lizard, making sure he had everything he might need for the challenges ahead. The drops of water falling from the stalactites echoed in the cave, creating a mysterious atmosphere.

After finishing her preparations, Helydia led Samuel through the winding corridors of the cave. The stone walls, dotted with luminescent crystals, emitted a cold and radiant light. They soon came across a group of armored rats, aggressive creatures whose armor seemed almost impenetrable.

Helydia, with a calm assurance, said to him: "Use your 'Muscle Reinforcement' to increase your strength." "You will be able to break their armor more easily." Samuel, following his instructions, focused his energy and activated the skill. He felt a sudden surge of power in his muscles, his arms becoming as hard as steel. He struck with tenfold strength, his blows shattering the rats' armor and sending them flying against the walls of the cave. The rats, taken aback by Samuel's brute strength, were quickly subdued.

They moved a little further when a swarm of feathered bats attacked. Helydia explained to him: "For these swift enemies, use 'Awakened Speed' to outpace them and take them down before they can react." Samuel activates the skill, and everything around him seemed to slow down. His movements became incredibly fast and fluid, his reflexes sharpened. He moved with inhuman agility, his legs emitting small yellow lights, dodging the attacks of the bats and taking them down in a flash. Each strike was precise, each dodge perfect, and he was mastering the art of this supernatural speed more and more.

Finally, after defeating the creatures, they arrived at a massive cave. The walls were covered with skeletons, each wearing various equipment: knight's armor, wizard's robes, thief's belts, and healer's accessories. Helydia explained: "I brought you here so you could gear up." "It will always be better than your smelly skin rag and my paw as a weapon."

Samuel examines the equipment, finding a rusty sword that he decided to take. He cut a small piece of helydia's paw, the size of a thumb to keep in his pocket, so he could always communicate with Helydia. She saw him do it and added, "I will teach you our language when we have some free time."

Samuel slipped on a black hooded cloak he found among the skeletons and turned to Helydia. "Come on, I'm ready." "Let's get out of here."
