**Chapter 21: A Frantic Escape**

After Samuel accepted this young man into their group, Helydia rushed towards him with a healing slime they had in their bag. She quickly applied the slimy creature to the wound, and the injury closed up as if it had been cauterized, leaving a hole where his ring finger had been.

"My name is Kai," said the young man with difficulty, still in shock from what he had just done.

Helydia, finishing up his treatment, replied with a smile: "I'm Helydia, and this is Samuel, but you can call him Master."

"Thank you for welcoming me, Master !" said Kai, sitting on the ground, trying to remain stoic despite the pain.

Helydia gently corrected him: "Wait, Kai, when you speak to him, talk to him through thought ,the master still does not understand our language."

Meanwhile, Samuel was taking care of Kai's cut finger. He coated his finger with green slime drool to prevent it from rotting, then attached it to his necklace, alongside Helydia's paw tip. This would allow them to communicate without Samuel having to keep his finger in his hand.

Suddenly, guards, alerted by the noise, rushed towards them. helydia noticing their arrival, thought strongly: "Quick, follow me!"

Kai, Helydia, and Samuel started running without wasting a second. The guards were quickly approaching, their armor clinking with every step. Helydia, as agile as a spider, led the group through a tangle of narrow, dark alleyways. Samuel, although imposing, followed closely, his senses sharpened by years of combat. Kai was doing his best not to slow down.

They took each turn with precision, avoiding the main avenues where the guards could easily spot them. The shouts and orders given by the soldiers echoed in the distance, but their footsteps grew fainter and fainter.

After several minutes of a frantic run, they reached a narrow alley, barely visible, hidden behind a pile of wooden crates. Helydia plunged in, followed by Samuel and Kai. Out of breath, they finally stopped, out of sight of prying eyes.

Samuel was scrutinizing the darkness, making sure that no one had followed them. "It's good," he thought calmly, "they won't find us here."

Kai, hands on his knees, was breathing heavily, while Helydia, always alert, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

" We are safe... for now," she thought, her gaze turning towards Samuel. "What do we do now, boss?"

Samuel was scanning the darkness, making sure that no one had followed them. He then thinks calmly: "Now, I need to be given a weapon , Mine no longer suits me, we will stop at the inn, hoping that no one recognizes us, and we will leave again tomorrow."
