Chapter 38

“I want you to go back to the dungeon and find the Amonian with the most potential to be a good trainer, then appoint them to the training field.”

That was the mission that he gave Seru.

“Your will shall be enacted, Lord Amon.” was all she said before he sent all of his summons back to the dungeon. He was now alone in his room at the inn, so he pulled up the System and sent a message to two of his friends.

The message was simple: his coordinates and an invitation to party up with him on his next adventure. Rea responded immediately.

‘:( I’m so sorry, I’m busy with family matters. My cousin said he saw you, though! I’m glad you’re doing well. We’ll meet up soon, I promise! <3’

He was almost taken aback by how… normal she was through text. Not that she was particularly weird in person, it was just nostalgic for some reason. Maybe it was because it reminded him of home.

The sense of familiarity was short lived though. A brisk three tap succession at his door brought him back to reality and he went to open it. On the other side of the door was Meka, already dressed in gray armor as if they were going into combat right that instant. He had to admit that she did look cool though, the armor was sleek but it wasn’t impractical. Full body and badass.

I should get some armor.

“Thank you for coming on such short notice. We’re going to the Void Library for the adventure.” As he spoke, she let herself into the room and he closed the door behind her. She looked around even though there was nothing to see since everything he owned was in his inventory.

“Why do you need my help? You’re stronger than me.” she asked rather bluntly.

“Well,” he paused for a moment while he decided whether or not to tell her the entire truth. He had no real reason to trust her, but he also didn’t exactly have a reason to distrust her either. It was a gamble, but it was better to start taking risks while he didn’t have much to lose. Plus, she was right. He was stronger than her, so he had the advantage here. “I need allies. I don’t know much about the Tower and there’s only so much I can do on my own.”

“Even with someone like Juno backing you? Wow.” She was silent for a few seconds, but the look on her face told him that she had more to say so he didn’t fill the empty space with the sound of his own voice. “What floor are you from?”

“I don’t think my world is in the Tower.”

“No, that’s not true. Every conceivable universe exists somewhere in the Tower. You’re probably from a floor where your world is so far in the outskirts of the universe that you just haven’t had the opportunity to interact with the Tower yet. Has your planet met any alien life?”

“No, not officially at least. A lot of people on Earth do think the government is just lying about that though.”

“Earth? You’re an Earthian?”

“Er, no. Earthling.”

“That’s silly. Earthian sounds cooler, you should change it once you make it back and lead your planet into joining the Tower.”

He hadn’t taken the time to process what she was saying until then. If she was right, which he wanted to believe she was, then that meant that he could find his home as long as he thoroughly searched the Tower.

The idea of it all gave him a headache though. It was hard enough just dealing with the planets he spawned on and the adventures he had to go on, now he had to learn space travel so he could explore universes?

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Wait, no. I have a dungeon. I can send them on missions to explore the universes.

A plan was starting to come together for his future. For the first time since he made it to the Tower, he was starting to see a clear path for himself. He just had to get stronger. Way, way stronger.

He sent her a party request and she accepted it without hesitation. “If we’re going to be allies going forward, I need to know that I can trust you.” said Meka.

“How do I prove that I’m trustworthy?”

“What’s your dungeon’s seed?”

Apparently, that information really was a big deal around here. “Tree of Life, what about yours?”

She fumbled over her words a little bit. Was his seed that shocking? “It’s nothing fancy like yours, just a holy nature. Let’s get going to this library, I’m curious as to what we can find.”

He nodded and used the ticket. A few seconds later, they were both standing on a spaceship. Maybe it was more accurate to call it a space ship? It was definitely built for space travel, but instead of a rocket or aircraft design, it was shaped like a gigantic cruise ship. Even from the deck where they stood, he could tell that the boat was massive. It had to have been big enough to house an entire civilization and comfortably at that!

‘Quest generated: Choose 1 book each! You may browse the collection freely, but you can only take one book out of the library!

Hidden Objective: Obtain forbidden knowledge!’

“What kind of tome are the two of you looking for?” asked a floating sphere after scanning both of them with a light blue light.

Amon didn’t answer immediately. He was still taking in his surroundings. Sure, he’d been taken to a fantasy world and seen everything from dragons to aliens, but this was his first time in space! He looked over the edge of the ship, fascinated by the fact that there was no dome yet somehow he was able to survive out there.

When he looked down, his heart sank just a little. There was a swirling mass of nothingness right below them, consuming all light that dared to enter its gravitational pull. He normally wouldn’t have been able to perceive it at all, but since he saw the mana in the world around him now he was able to see the large pools of energy trapped within the phenomenon.

“We’re not sure yet, where’s the library on this ship?” said Meka.

“Everything you see is a library. The entire area.”

“Are there any books that are off limits?” asked Amon.

“Everything on the ship is open information.”

“We’ll take our time browsing then.” said Meka.

“If you require assistance, just call out for us.”

The sphere floated away to leave them alone again.

“I’m happy this isn’t a timed adventure. Call out all of your summons, they should be able to take a book for themselves too, right? Even if they can’t we can cover more ground with them helping us.”

“Oh, I only have one summon. I haven’t really had the chance to find any others, crystal drops are really rare and I don’t come from a rich family.” as she spoke, she called out her summon. It was a black dog that resembled a jackal. No, it was definitely some kind of Egyptian hound. He could see the golden jewelry adorning it. “His name is Ani.”

Amon took a moment to be grateful for his luck. He had quite a few summons already, and he had a bunch more he could summon.

While the thought was on his mind, he decided to summon his usual trio and use the rest of his DP he had saved up. With the 20,000, he summoned all of his common to rare summons and a few uniques. He used exactly 19,600 points in the process, but it was worth it. Including his initial three, he now had a force of 36. The unique summons of the great bear, the demon noble, and the high priestess definitely seemed particularly worth it too.

There was an initial silence amongst the summons, but Seru quickly stepped up to the plate and took the reigns. “You have all been graciously given a chance to bring our great Lord Amon satisfaction. Praise him for his benevolence.” commanded the little goblin. Thankfully, all of the summons seemed to possess enough intelligence to understand what she was saying to them. Even the uniques listened to her, despite the fact that they belonged to races that most would see as superior to goblins.

Seru turned around so that her back was facing the crowd and knelt before Amon, causing all of the summons to follow in her footsteps, other than Jack of course. He’d already wandered off somewhere on his own. “We humbly await your orders.”

He would never be able to express how thankful he was for Seru. Not only did she make everything so much easier, but she did it in such a way that fed it into the character he was creating without him even having to command her to do so. She really was perfect.

“Search the ship and find a book that you believe will either be of benefit to your own growth or that of the dungeon as a whole. Take your time and be thorough.”

Once the order was given, some summons walked off to complete their task immediately, while others greeted one another as if they were already well acquainted. Seru walked up to Meka and Ani, puffing her little purple chest out.

“Who might you be?”

“Ah, I’m Mekakanius von Lichtenheimer. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

“Hm. I’m Seru, Lord Amon’s first and most trusted. Be sure to make yourself useful.”

She didn’t drag it any further. She simply went off to complete her orders and keep an eye on the other summons that may not have been competent enough to do it properly.

“Well, I’ll get to searching too. No point in staying clustered up when we have so much ground to cover.” said Meka before heading off and leaving Amon by himself on the deck.

He looked over the edge again, wondering if he was stupid for what he was about to do.

“Eh, fuck it.”

He shrugged as he left a clump of Fyn on the deck and jumped straight into the black hole.
