Rocks fell from the ceiling as the body trembled and the island followed suit. It was looking like the entire island would fall in on itself, or at least the mountain, but it all stopped just as suddenly as it had started.
There was a lull in the fighting all around the island. It wasn’t because the trembling scared everyone, but because something in the air shifted.
‘Objective updated: Defeat the hidden boss (Scylla)!’
A tan man descended onto the platform in the basement, standing right at the bottom of the stairs that led to the altar. He was dressed in loose white robes, identical to the ones that adorned the statues of Zeus.
Everything about him was red. The color of his the spiky hair that made him look like he was a powerful shounen protagonist? Red. The deep hue of his eyes? Red. The only thing he could see? Red.
Amon didn’t need to see things from the new entry’s point of view to know that he was filled with pure, unadulterated anger. He could see it as clear as day on the man’s face, and in the ferocity behind the man’s movements as he burst into the battle.
You think Scylla is as strong as Jack?
It’s hard to say. When he fought Nel he wasn’t actually trying to hurt him, but if I had to guess I’d say they’re around the same strength.
Sheesh. The same strength? The way Amon saw it, Scylla was a force to absolutely be reckoned with. Within a matter of seconds, he had completely changed the tide of the fight. There was no struggle between the two combatants anymore, only the one sided beat down from the higher entity.
He was thankful that he chose not to fight Jack Frost. The way things were unfolding, if he would have decided to duke it out then he wouldn’t have even lasted a second.
As he watched Scylla grab both of the men by their faces and released a powerful torrent of water from his palms, he could hardly believe that the island was able to withstand the constant impacts of the battles raging on all around it. Were none of them afraid of how Zeus would feel about them wrecking his castle?
When Kuffy hit the ground this time, the stone fell out of his pocket with a slight bounce.
I think I figured out the puzzle, Seru. I’m going to steal that stone and pass it off to you, go to the altar and break it in half.
Seru nodded to show she understood and started making her way toward the altar, hoping to stay on the outskirts of the skirmish. He knew that once he brought the stone to the altar, the story would progress in one of two ways: it would be revealed that the stone is holding an artifact that can revive the dead, and Charybdis will be amongst the dead able to be revived, or a monster would immediately be born.
Either way, he felt it was necessary to take the gamble. At least to temporarily distract Scylla so they could prepare a counter attack. How he was going to do it was undecided though. He had to stick to his character, he didn’t know just how connected this world was to the greater tower. Which meant that he absolutely had to outshine the other two.
He charged a spell in his right hand in advance and, like Seru, he was able to jump into the room without any resistance from his instincts. He was thankful for the training he had received to override his body’s fear of death. That didn’t mean that he was unaware of death, though. That was probably why he went overboard and put basically all of his available mana into the spell.
As he landed beside the stone and passed it off to Seru in one fluid motion, he spoke so that he could draw the attention of the other fighters.
“Fall in step,” he said softly. It was just loud enough for Kuffy and Odysseus to hear him in the brief period of time when Scylla’s focus finally shifted to Amon. He gave himself goosebumps! A graceful entrance, powerfully concise dialogue, the tension in the air because the man who seemed to have been hiding his strength this entire time was preparing to take the reigns and pull the team to a victory. It was all so exciting!
He stared Scylla down and rose his hand into the air as if he were charging an attack. The monster didn’t care for the rules of engagement, though. Scylla rushed him, giving him no time to actually prepare his attack. He couldn’t track his movements with his eyes, but it didn’t matter. He just needed to move.
He jumped back and purposefully allowed himself to hit the water that lined the arena. As he sank below the clear sea, he saw that he had just narrowly avoided an attack that instead hit the wall that was once behind him.

That was the last thing that he saw clearly before the spell in his hand fired off, releasing a firebomb and propelling himself deeper into the water from the impact alone. He was dazed by the blast, but he pulled himself together and swam back up to the surface.
Once he was there, he found that his plan worked as he had intended. He was worried that simply releasing a firebomb would be enough to fill the room with steam, but it looked like magic was more malleable than he originally assumed. That was great for him.
The steam wasn’t enough to stop the fight, but it was enough for Seru to be able to crack the egg on the altar.
Yeah, it was an egg.
Duh.
The life of old? The old legend. Scylla was never alone, he had Charybdis. Odysseus was trying to stop them from reuniting again. It made sense.
Everything was at a standstill. Scylla stopped fighting to reach out to the black haired woman that hatched from the egg. The other two fighters were stunned by the turn of events, as well as winded from combat.
‘You have decided to hatch Charybdis! Mythic Summon Crystal obtained!’
Amon smirked.
He rose to his feet. He knew that there was only one way to resolve this. Kuffy had been wrong, and now Odysseus’s fears had been realized. The two monsters were going to be a problem… But Amon had a solution.
“Come here.”
As he commanded, they made their way over to him, both Seru and Charybdis.
“I’ll be taking both of them with me. Scylla, if you admit defeat, you may accompany us since you’re fond of Charybdis.”
The man, dumbfounded by the turn of events, was quick to catch up to speed. He gave Amon a “Tch.”, but the System gave Amon a cleared objective screen. He had finished the adventure and he was able to return to the tower. It asked him if he wanted to return, but he instead chose to teleport himself and his monsters to his dungeon.
He was rather satisfied with himself. He’d received two Mythic summons?! Well, he didn’t know what Scylla was. He didn’t get a notification. Scylla, like Seru, was still beside him when they made it to one of his tree of life roots.
“Where’s Charybdis?” asked the man, hostility in his voice.
“She’s in a separate dimension until Lord Amon summons her, with all the rest of his idle summons.” said Seru. This was news to him though. Did this mean the Blue Moon Wolf had been sitting there, all this time, fully conscious? He felt a little bad about leaving him there for so long and made a mental note to summon him as soon as he could afford to.
“I see. How do I go there?”
“You’d have to give Lord Amon your crystal.”
“Understood. Amon, I will give you my crystal, but do not summon us separately.”
That was when he received another notification for a mythic crystal acquisition and Scylla immediately vanished. Maybe they could only exist unsummoned in their own world? Did that mean that someone physically summoned him so he could exist out of his own world? Who would even be the Dungeon Master for the Dungeon Masters?
He checked both of their prices and winced. 20k each?
I wonder how much DP I’d cost.
“You did well, Seru.” he patted her head softly as he finally took the time to look around at his dungeon floor. He was on the root that had all of the homes and it looked the same as it had the last time he was there. Had they plateaued because he hadn’t given them a floor theme yet, meaning this floor was empty? Once he received Scylla’s crystal, he was rewarded with a total of 8000DP, 3000 initially and then an extra 5000 for technically defeating Scylla. Most importantly, he got the theme for the floor, but he had to leave to apply it and give it time to reload.
When he arrived in the old lady’s house, he smiled at her warmly while he applied his theme to his dungeon.
“Thank you for the adventure. The treasure was amazing.”
She was clearly scared shitless, but Amon acted like he didn’t notice her scream aloud at his sudden appearance. The look in her eyes screamed, “You should be dead!!”
“W-What was the treasure?” she asked, trembling softly.
He could’ve told her the truth, but he thought about what the hidden objective wanted him to do. Realize the error of her ways? He felt that, if she were doing this because of the pain of losing her husband, he should probably say something along the lines of ‘The treasure was the love of adventuring.’ so she’d realize how sick and wrong she was to use her late lover’s passion to lead others to her death.
“The understanding that I am absolute.” was his response.
It was said casually, as if it were no big deal that he had seemingly effortlessly cleared the adventure that had been growing stronger and stronger for who knows how long, claiming the lives of countless Players in the process. Amon saw something click inside the old lady. She definitely realized something, because he got an additional bonus of 10,000DP and 50,000 coins for completing the hidden objective.
He could tell it was nighttime by the lack of light from the window, so he kindly excused himself and left the woman to her devices.
He summoned Seru once he was outside, happy to finally be able to do some shopping while they killed time.

Now that they were back in the Tower, their attire had shifted to sleek futuristic clothing to match the area that they were in. Despite the era change, though, Amon was adorned with accessories that helped to mask his identity; mainly a hooded cloak on top of everything else.
