I am a Spy
If only I had nuts

If only I had nuts

Leblon, Rio de Janeiro

Enzo almost forgot the pink card in the Sisters' room, which almost caused his demise by Vini. Fortunately, Vini still had some sense of things and kept it with him. They had to repeat the same route again to Leblon. They could not wait for the time to drop the cover for good. Unfortunately, for both of them, that day was not the day.

The Uber dropped them off on the club's street. Luckily for them, the driver had no questions asked, although he made a funny face when he saw them for the first time. After the scare, the trip from Barra da Tijuca to Leblon went smoothly.

- Great, where is Suzane? - Enzo asked, impatient.

- We'll have to check at the reception. - Vini concluded.

By coincidence, the same receptionist from the first day was at the counter.

- Hello, good evening. - said Vini, smiling. - Is Suzane here yet?

- Suzane? - She didn't remember.

- Suzane Francisco.

- Oh, she's here. Now that you mention it, she asked you to meet her at the pool.

- Ah, ok. Thanks.

Vini made a signal with his fingers to Enzo.

- Pool, honey.

The walk to the club's pool took a little over five minutes. They didn't know anyone, except Suzane, but the club's staff made sure to greet them, no matter what the occasion.

The club's water complex was large and full of entertainment. At least four indoors pools of all shapes and sizes, with tables and chairs on the sides, beside the huge glass windows and stone floors heated by who knows how. Suzane waved to Enzo and Vini and took two plastic chairs from the next table.

- I have a fucked-up feeling about this, Enzo.

- Tell me about it. I'm sweating my panties off here.

That remark made Vini lift his ear, if it were humanly possible.

- But you are wearing underwear, aren't you?

Vini had no response. Which was a bit worrying.

- Hello, girls. - Suzane said, hugging them. - How are you?

- Exhausted. - Vini replied. - We got a lot of sun today.

- Amanda sent me a message saying that she received the package.

Curiously, she didn't mention that only the delivery guys' gender simply changed from one moment to the next.

- Suzane, why did you ask us to deliver a bunch of office supplies?

Suzane was surprised.

- Did she show you?

- Yes, she did. I didn't imagine to find what I found.

- And what did you expect to find?

Uh-oh.

- Eh... - Vini had to think quickly. - Things your husband would deliver.

It was bad, but not as bad as what would come next.

- It's just that a woman of your level should hire someone to do these things.

- Oh, Diane, shut up for good. - Enzo replied.

- Actually, I didn't tell you a small detail. The package didn't matter. In fact, I hardly know Amanda. I wanted to do a tryout. Don't get me wrong, but this is not the first friendship I've made here. I don't trust anyone, because the police have been after me and my husband for years. So I kind of tested you to see if you were trustworthy.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

I'm glad she said "small detail".

- Oh. - Vini acted surprised.

- Sorry, but I need to protect myself and my business. It's not easy to go out and risk myself like this. You came to my house... - Suzane got lost in her argument. - Anyway, that's it.

Enzo gave Vini a look, remembering that he had been snooping around Suzane's house during dinner.

- So, I need you to do me a favor.

Vini quickly cut in before she could continue.

- Suzane, get this, whatever you're going to ask, in no uncertain terms.

- I need you to go to Rocinha. There is a guy who owes me money. I can't go there to get the money, but I'll pay you to go get it for me.

- Why us?

- Because I don't trust anyone else to do this job.

- What about your husband?

- It's better to keep certain questions to ourselves.

- Exactly, Diane. - Enzo stared at Vini. - Don't ask questions that the answer might give you a kick in the nuts. If only I had nuts.

- What do we have to deliver?

- Does it matter?

- Yes. If you want, well, the deal delivered, you'd better tell us.

- All right. You drive, don't you?

Well, yes, but actually, no.

- Diane has a license, we just don't have a car.

- Good. The police up there are corrupt. If they stop you, tell them you only talk to Roberto.

- Who the hell is Roberto?

- He is one of the cops. There are at least 30 of them who are in on the deal. Just go in and get the money. Then deliver a package.

- What package?

Suzane took her cell phone out of her pocket and showed them both ten IMBEL A2 assault rifles. If in the pictures the weapons already looked like a monster, Vini imagined how they would look like in reality.

- Holy shit! - Enzo said.

- How did you get these guns?

Enzo, under the table, kicked Vini in the shins.

- We will do the delivery. Tomorrow at eight.

It was Vini's turn to kick him in the shins. Unfortunately, he missed the target and hit one of the feet of the chair, almost knocking over Suzane's wine glass.

- Sarah is off her rocker, because she is not really an early riser.

- But she'd better get there as soon as possible, to get out as soon as possible.

Where had Vini heard that same phrase?

- The only problem is that some people take a long time to show up at the places.

- Girls, no fighting. - Suzane interfered. - I'll give you the person's contact information.

- What's the guy's name?

- I'll write it down on a piece of paper. The walls have ears.

- And Roberto?

- Only if the police get in trouble with you.

Suzane wrote down the name of the place and handed it to Vini again.

- Is that name familiar? - she asked.

- I only know it up to Gávea Road. The rest is a place foreign to me.
