Adrenaline is a hell of a drug

Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro

Despite what Enzo said to annoy him, Vini managed to get some of his stuff done in his uncomfortable hospital bed. Of course, with Belgium by his side, everything was simpler. One of the qualities he loved about her was her patience and care for everything. Vini didn't know the other sisters well enough, but if he had to choose, Belgium would always be his first choice with a great advantage.

- Is there any more you want? - she asked with great gentleness and compassion.

- No, dear. I'm fine. My knee doesn't even hurt anymore. I just don't feel very comfortable walking.

- Do you want to watch something on TV?

- There's nothing good on at this time.

But Belgium tried her luck. She clicked the red button on the remote control and the TV turned on instantly. And it landed exactly on a news network, which reported a big accident between two motorcycles that ended with two dead and one injured. Vini didn't recognize it, because even the most fanatical motorcycle fanatic would hardly be able to distinguish a burning BMW bike. That could only mean one thing.

- Either they are filming the new Mission Impossible, or I would say that Enzo is messing around in the city.

It could be both. But Vini was right. And it didn't take long to get a confirmation, because hours later, Enzo showed up at the same hospital, just a few rooms away.

- The patient said he knows you. - said one of the doctors.

- I've never seen him before! - Vini answered, clearly lying.

- He said that's exactly what you would have said.

Oh, boy. That was a good one.

On crutches, Enzo slowly walked over to Vini and Belgium. He didn't look as bad as Vini thought. I mean, apart from some scratches on the bodywork and marks on the shoulders, Enzo looked brand new, like vehicles after they come out of the workshop.

- If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. - said Enzo, smiling.

- I can't hardly believe it even now. What have you been doing, you nutcase?

- They broke into Marcos's house. Also how is Luana's sister.... Who I forgot her fucking name again!

- Gabi, you idiot. - Belgium got angry. - And she is fine. At home with my sisters.

- Oh, so she's being psychologically tortured.

- Very funny, but I gotta agree on that take.

- So, Enzo, how did you get on TV this time?

- I was able to kill four guys. The other two came after me on a motorcycle. At the Joá Viaduct, I used one of those trucks that carry cars as a ramp to knock them down.

- You're right. - said Vini. - It is really hard to believe.

- Vini, adrenaline is a hell of a drug! I would never think of jumping from one bridge to another on a motorcycle! It was incredible! I thought I was Ken Block(*) or Tom Cruise, without the scientology stuff.

- Amazing that you never die.

- Isn't it? I think you said that already.

- Yes. One slip in the bathroom and I am taken away by ambulance. Holy shit, what an unfair world.

Then a strong, very tall black man wearing dark glasses entered Vini and Enzo's room. He removed the sunglasses from his face and checked his cell phone.

- Enzo Carvalho and Vinicius Valverde? - he asked.

- That depends. - Enzo said. - Are you guys from MIB?

- No, Enzo. I work for the Federal Police, but thanks for the compliment. My son loves the movie. He'll be very happy to hear that I've been mistaken as Will Smith.

- That's right, Officer...

- Silva. Let's stick with Silva.

- Agent Silva. What are you doing here?

- Crazy Rooster. Rocinha. Marcos. Suzane. You know these names, don't you?

As it turned out, basically the whole story was based on these names.

- Yes, we are well aware of them. - Vini confirmed.

Silva stared at Belgium, as if he wanted her to leave.

- What? - She didn't understand the reason for the stares.

- I need to talk to both of you alone.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

- No problem, Agent Silva. - said Vini. - Belgium is a friend.

- The country?

Enzo looked at Vini.

- It will never stop being hilarious.

- Belgium is my... - Vini was about to clarify, but even he didn't know how to finish the sentence.

- We don't even know. - Enzo said. - Girlfriend, they sleep together and she gave him a blowjob.

- Enzo! - Belgium didn't like it.

- What?

- Shut up, you moron! I don't even want to be reminded that you sleep with my two sisters!

- Negative. Only one of them!

- It's okay, it's okay. No fights. - said Silva. - I came here because I know you have a lot of information about Crazy Rooster.

- A lot of information? - Vini wondered. - What would we know that you don't know? After all, you are the professionals.

- I know, but Crazy Rooster is not exactly an easy guy to find. And considering everything that happened, I think it's a great opportunity to catch him if we use our pieces correctly.

- What do you mean?

- Crazy Rooster wants you. That is obvious. But he also aims at Rocinha, and he got it. He dominates drug trafficking and control of the main slums in the state.

- He has military weapons, Silva. And corrupt cops working for him, like Roberto, who took our friend.

- How is the situation in the city? - asked Belgium.

- Chaos. More shootings are happening in various points. And burned cars and buses. Schools will remain closed. I can't just send my men after Crazy Rooster.

- Why not?

- Go up the slum? We don't do that anymore. Public opinion doesn't accept this kind of operation anymore.

- Fuck public opinion, Silva! You want to kill that fucker? Do what you have to do.

- That's alright. We just need to ask a few more questions.

- That's fine.

- Do you know about Marcos?

Vini looked at Enzo, who shrugged his shoulders.

- No idea. He disappeared. Maybe he's hiding. Or even dead.

- Do you have any guesses?

Enzo shook his head.

- I'm sorry.

- And Suzane?

- What about her?

- The wife of an arms and drug dealer. We need her.

- Her husband has nothing to do with it. - Enzo answered. - At least that's what she told us. She was allied with Marcos until the moment he was no longer her bitch.

- So, all we need is to make an operation in the slum. It will be simple.

- Except for the fact that we need you. We have an idea of where he might be. Getting in is not the problem, but getting out... That's the shit.

- Suzane told us she has a tip for us. Maybe she can supply us with weapons, I don't know.

- Keep me in the loop, okay?

- I will. I probably won't be leaving here this week. Maybe next week, who knows.

- Great. - Silva got up and walked to the door. - Keep your eyes open. And don't do anything stupid.

Silva didn't really know them.

- Stay calm. How hard can it be?

When the agent walked out, Vini asked Enzo to leave for a while as well. At first he thought it was strange, but then he got it. He just advised him not to miss the opportunity. As soon as Enzo left, Vini made his move.

- Vini, darling? - Belgium was embarrassed. - Here?

- Yes! Maybe it's the drugs, but I really want to do it on this uncomfortable bed and this 2.99 pillow.

Belgium didn't argue. She just took off her blouse and locked the door. From that moment on, there was no Crazy Rooster, no nymphomaniac sisters, no drug dealer's wives, and no Enzo to disturb. It was just Vini and Belgium in a unique moment.

- Holy shit! - said Vini, at the end of the act, knackered. - Holy shit! Belgium... I love you, babe.

- I love you too, honey.

- And I love you both! - said Enzo, on the other side of the door.

Ah, Vini just couldn't take it any longer. He picked up a very heavy object and threw it towards the door. Enzo got the message, even though he was an idiot. Well, it could be worse.
