When we were crawling I could see guards on the walls. Not perfectly but their shape. They didn’t look down at all. Maybe Dian did it so often that it’s nothing unusual for them. I imagined that the hole in the wall would be small but it was bigger than expected. I could easily walk there on my knees. The hole was behind someone’s house so no one would ever think to look for it there.
There were no guards by the house and the ones on the wall are watching the forest. We sneaked out when no one was by the house. They didn’t spot us but we need to be careful. A random guard in the city might recognize us. Or at least those goons I beat up.
We bought some bread and vegetables without any problems. People from this town probably don’t even know that we’re criminals. It’s not like there are newspapers or wanted posters. Until a guard points a finger at us we’re innocent.
When we were slowly heading to the hole to leave this town we passed by guards arresting someone. They didn’t look like the guards that chased us a day ago. They were more like the ones that I beat up. Few of them are even drunk.
[ Guard ]
“You’re under arrest for *hick* insulting a guard on duty.” Said the guard as he tied the man’s hands.
[ Man ]
“But I didn’t say anything!”
[ Guard ]
“Your face did! I saw that look on your face.”
[ Man ]
“But that’s just my everyday face!”
[ Guard ]
“Huh? Can anyone confirm this?!” Shouted the guard to get people's attention. Wherever he looked the people turned their eyes somewhere else. “None? Looks like no one is going to help you…”
[ Dian ]
“This man did nothing!”
[ Guard ]
“What? You know him?”

[ Eric ]
“Dian… We don’t want any unwanted attention.” I whispered into his ear.
[ Dian ]
“I don’t!”
[ Guard ]
“Then fuck off! It’s none of your business.”
[ Dian ]
“Of course, it’s my business! If an injustice is right in front of me, I’m going to take action!” He shouted as he threw his cloak away. “I’m Dian! A hero blessed by the hero of gods! Meili!” Dian raised his hand and showed the tattoo.
People began to chatter and gasp at the view of the blessed person and what he was doing. Some were amazed and relieved by his action but some were worried about what might become of this.
[ Eric ]
“I told you to not do it! We could take action later after a preparation!” I whispered with anger.
[ Guard 2 ]
“I think it’s a guy that Meka wants dead.”
[ Guard ]
“It’s him? Lucky we.”
Guards took out their weapons as they walked toward us. Dian was going to reach for his weapon but then he realized he didn’t take it. He looked at me with a worried face. He hoped that I would have a plane but I had the same worried face.
[ Dian ]
“What do we do?!”
[ Eric ]
“Create that fog!”
[ Dian ]
“But I don’t have that much time and energy to do it right now!”
[ Eric ]
“Then why did you have to do this?!”
[ Dian ]
“Because that’s what a hero would do!” Said Dian as his face changed for a second to an excited face.
[ Eric ]
“We need to run! Now!”
I grabbed Dian’s hand and started running away. Of course, the guard followed us and we left all the people there confused. We took action but then run away. Those who had hope lost it and those who were worried were left confused.
[ Dian ]
“But we need to help that man!”
[ Eric ]
“And what? You’re going to take him to your house?”
[ Dian ]
“That’s a really good idea!”
[ Eric ]
“So you didn’t have any plan… We’ll help him another time. First, we need to get ready.”
We lost the guards while ruining between houses. They didn’t inform anyone else. They were only focused on catching us without any help. Why would they do that? Are they not cooperating with each other?
