Legend Of Golden Edge pt. 4

Legend Of Golden Edge pt. 4

[ Berfor ]

“Grab and pin him to the ground!”

Three men tried their best to grab him and stop Barnir but only one of them was lucky enough to even touch him. No matter how loud they screamed or shouted his name, there was no response from Barnir.

[ Astvar ]

“Father… Why…”

[ Berfor ]

“Is he not awake or something?!”

[ Astvar ]

“No… He is awake… but there is something off about him… like he isn’t there…”

[ Berfor ]

“What do you mean?! I can clearly see him with a hammer covered in blood!”

[ Astvar ]

“It’s his body but not his mind. Look at his eyes. They are empty like there is no soul inside.”

[ Berfor ]

“Then what should we do?”

As Berfor and Astvar were talking, Barnir raised his hammer, and flames slowly wrapped themselves around it. The flames slowly changed colors into white and they didn’t give heat into the air but freezing wind. Everyone could feel how cold it was getting in this place.

[ Astvar ]

“I’ll try to wake him up.”

Berfor tried to grab him but Astvar was too far away. The closer he got the colder it was. Once he was in front of his father he had goosebumps not only from the cold but when he saw his father’s empty eyes he was scared that he isn’t there anymore.

*SLAP*

Astvar slapped Barnir as hard as he could but he didn’t even flinch and the flames didn’t disappear. Thin ice slowly appeared on Astvar’s body. He grabbed his father's shoulders and screamed.

[ Astvar ]

“Father! PLEASE STOP! I KNOW YOU’RE THERE! WAKE UP!”

[ Barnir ]

“Astvar…” He whispered.

[ Astvar ]

“Yes! It’s me! Your son!” Said Astvar with a slight smile on his face.

[ Barnir ]

“Kill… me…”

[ Astvar ]

“What?” Astvar’s smile disappears and fear appeared on his face. “What do you mean…”

[ Barnir ]

“Son… kill me.”

[ Astvar ]

“I can’t do that!”

[ Barnir ]

“I SAID! KILL ME! Before I kill anyone else!”

[ Astvar ]

“WHY! WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS?! PLEASE STOP!”

Astvar shook his father but there was no response. His eyes were empty again. Astvar rested his head on his father’s forehead and began to cry. His tears slowly froze as well as his whole body.

[ Berfor ]

“Astvar! Do it! This spell is going to kill us all! He asked you to kill him! Grant his wish!”

[ Whisper ]

“Do it, son…” Barnir didn’t open his mouth yet Astvar heard his final request.

[ Astvar ]

“Forgive me… father.”

Astvar reached for his sword and grabbed it but he didn’t pull it out of the sheath. He realized that this isn’t enough to stop his father with one move. Even a blow to the heart won’t stop him immediately. He slapped himself and then picked a knife from one of the dead men. He stabbed his arm with it and moved across. From the wound, he pulled a golden spear.

[ Berfor ]

“Is that… Gungnir…”

[ Astvar ]

“To honor your death… I’LL KILL YOU WITH THE STRONGEST WEAPON I GOT!”

Astvar raised his spear as high as he could and with one swift move he cut the white flames, Barnir’s hammer, and him in half. The cold air disappeared and the warm silent night came back. With a flash of light, the spear disappeared. Warriors were happy that they survived but they also were sad that their leader died.

[ Loki ]

“That’s how he got a title. Even I was amazed. He pulled out a fragment of my father’s spear and the blade at that!”

[ Eric ]

“So that’s why he didn’t want to talk about it.”

[ Loki ]

“What’s weirder is that they won at the same time I killed Mani but somehow she controlled that man. I thought that it was her last spell before she died but I was mistaken… Okay. Enough. You’re going to wake up in a moment.”
