History of the Orcs - Battle for the Red Lands

After the Battle of the Mountain Pass the Orcs finally came to understand how the Shamans had supplied them with meat. The facade they had willing participated in for so long, had finally come apart. There was no doubt now that the meat they feasted upon each day had been taken from the battlefield. And while this realisation may have had savage repercussions in the past, when the Orcs saw themselves as a vastly superior race. This was not so anymore, after years of eating cooked meat, then raw meat, then meat right off the bone, the Orcs had become accustomed to feeding their hunger. And so the impact of this revelation was somewhat lessened. Only a few Orcs completely disillusioned with the way things were broke away from the Warhordes to make their journey back to Orkeylium. Never to be seen from or heard from again.

Resigned to their strange new fate the Orcs under Grozak began constructing a fortress at the foot of the Mountains to allow easy access for additional reinforcements from Caldasher, Orkeylium and Kahloon. They named the fortress The Prickly Beast for it's thick jagged walls and wide trench line. Meanwhile the surviving Redlings forces regrouped at the frontier City Of Salaquin. Lord Diakar having been resoundingly defeated by the Orcs was removed from Command by the Council of Five and replaced by Lord Tagrian of Bosphoria.

Lord Tagrian having payed to close attention to the reports coming in from the battlefield, knew they had badly underestimated their enemies. Increasing the amount of gold to entice men to join the army, he worked towards doubling the number of levies, recalled the Basilisk Riders that had been away hunting down trolls, and sent messengers out to the open plains to request aid from the Centaurs and Dwarves.

By the time the construction on The Prickly Beast was completed. Lord Tagrian had assembled a mighty war host with over five hundred and sixty thousand Redlings, fifteen hundred Basilisk riders and an allied army of fifty thousand Centaur warriors. Once the goblin scouts brought word of this great host to the Shamans, the WarHordes gathered together and marched out into the field to meet them.

The average strength of each WarHorde is around eighteen thousand Orcs, which is a mixture of Berserkers, Orcas, Battle Matrons and Grunts. After the campaigns in Caldasher each WarHorde was given ten thousand goblin slaves to act as scouts and on occasion feed the army. There are a total of five WarHordes with an average of ten clans each. Each WarHorde is commanded by a extremely skilled Orc Warlord that has earned his title. Warlord Magrobark, Warlord Botaz, Warlord Sarkaza, Warlord Karoon, and Warlord Zarkan. Each would play a part in the coming battle.
