I woke up from my sleep. I was surrounded by a luxurious room. It had a comfy queen size bed, two one seater couches, one three seater couch, a dressing table with mirror and a study or work place. This was the five star hotel Osiris was staying in.

How the hell is he rich even in this world? I mean it makes sense in his world because he is the head of a high noble family, but to have this much wealth here…

Is he sellings drugs? Not that it makes much of a difference since this is not his world.

At this time, someone knocked on the door.

Ah, it must be Heina? I think she's here to ask me to get ready to depart.

I opened the door and as expected the one who knocked on the door was Heina.

By the way, I got to know that Heina also belongs to the Latix family.

“Please pack your things and get ready by eight o’ clock, Master Osiris will be waiting for you in his room.”

“Yes, I'll be there.”

I didn't have much to take with me. Osiris said that he'll provide us with clothes when we get there, so that shouldn't be a problem. Even if I wanted to take anything with me, I have to go to my house because we got teleported to this place so suddenly.

I got ready on time and went up to Osiris’ room. Asher and Clara were already waiting for me there with Osiris.

“Okay, now that everyone has come, I'll begin to teleport us to Tainad”

Then Osiris stretched out his palm and waved it into a curve. A black hole about a person’s height appeared. This one, however, was different from the two other black holes I had seen. This one had greenish-yellow rays coming out of it and it was surrounded by a multitude of electrical sparks.

Osiris directed his hand toward the black hole to gesture at us to enter it.

Asher was the first one to enter, then Clara followed him. Next up was me. I glanced at Osiris. He was talking to Heina about something while holding a document.

Finally, I entered the black hole.

This is amazing. It was mind-blowing. Never in my life had I expected a place such as this to exist. It was just like Earth sure, but it makes Earth seem like a rip-off compared to this view I'm seeing right now.

We were teleported to a grassland. The grass was light yellow and in the distance we could see buildings.It was evening at the time we reached here so the sunlight reflecting from the yellow grass was out of this world. The buildings were not just your everyday highrise buildings though. It was something much more breathtaking. The buildings were like the ones you'd see in a sci-fi movie. It looked really futuristic. It checks out with the description about Tainia in the Orb of Lore.

“Are we in Tainia?” Clara asked.

“Yes, you're right. We are in Tainia.”

“But.. aren't you a demon? Going by that, shouldn't we have teleported to the Demon continent?” Asher had asked a good question.

“To familiarize yourself with this world, I thought that being with fellow humans would help.”

That is true. We would feel alienated if we were constantly surrounded by demons and their culture.

“After about a month, we can start our plan of ceasefire on the demon continent.”

“But how do we do that? Do you have a plan?”, asked Clara.

I have got a plan, but I don't know if it will work. I stated my plan anyway.

“How about destroying the throne? Would that work?”

Osiris’ eyes widened and his mouth dropped open.

“I never thought about this. Indeed, this will work. The Progenitor’s throne is the basis of all rituals held in the demon continent, so destroying it would create unrest, but that shall soon fade away. Your idea shows that I have made the right choice by recruiting humans.”

Then we walked for a while and reached the city.

Our reactions were similar to a rural person visiting an urban area for the first time. It's funny how I had taken pride in living in a metropolitan area in my previous world. But now, it is the reverse.

We reached a red fortress. Did demon lords have fortresses outside the demon continent? Looks like there is no prejudice against them in the Human continent.

The fortress looked so out of place in between the ultra-modern buildings.

But not in a bad way. The fortress was definitely much more developed than the ones in my old world, but when comparing the fortress with the buildings side by side, the gap in progress between the demons and the Tainadlings could be seen.

As soon as we came near the entrance, the portcullis was lifted. Osiris and Heina led the way into the entrance. There were many people inside, but none of them resembled a demon. I asked Osiris about this. The answer was that the demons who are nobility, are sentient enough to wear a human form.

Hmm so I guess even among demons, some are less civilized and sentient than others?

We walked through a huge hallway. Then we reached an open area with no roof. There was grass instead of white stone as the flooring.

Osiris declared, “Now, let's see what attributes you all are about to inherit.”

I was pumped up for this moment. I had read many novels in my previous world that I knew what these were. There were many attributes such as the classic elemental attributes like fire, water, air, earth and many divination type attributes. The most popular divination type attribute was Necromancy. I wonder what I'll be able to inherit.

There were three tiny pillars which had markings on them. Osiris asked us to place our hands on the marking. There was also an old lady present nearby. She was maybe in her sixties or seventies. She chanted something and the markings started glowing. But for each of us the color was different. For Asher, it was blue and for Clara, it was brown. Finally for me…wait…it didn't glow? Is something wrong? I glanced at the old lady and at Osiris. Their expressions told me that something was indeed wrong.

Osiris muttered under his breath but I heard it.

“This can't be. There were only ten people in history who have had that, so why? This is going to be revolutionary.”

Chill out. Why are you making that face? I don't even know what's happening. The old lady was stunned but she soon resumed her chanting. Then after some time, Asher was surrounded by a red aura, then next was Clara. She was enveloped in a black aura. Then here I was. I was waiting for my turn, but…as expected it didn't work. Why does this keep happening to me?

The old lady looked at me with a dumbfounded expression, but Osiris stepped forward. He said, “I think it needs more magic power. I'll take over from now.”

Then Osiris chanted something different from the old lady. After some time, finally, an aura blanketed me. It was white…no I couldn't tell what color it was it was nearly colorless but also something of a white. It changed colors depending on the light.

Then I got to know my attribute from the old lady. I got the ‘Aether’ attribute. I didn't know what it exactly was yet because I didn't see any information about it in the Orb of Lore.

Clara got the ‘Abacomancy’ attribute. I knew about this one. It is the ability to control dust, dirt, sand and other small particles which couldn't be seen with an unaided eye. It could be used for offense, defense and to gather information. It was truly a useful attribute.

Next up, Asher got the ‘Mirage’ attribute. This was also a good one. It is associated with illusions and making the target hallucinate. It makes the target question reality and make bad choices in case of a crucial situation. This attribute can't aid with defense. That's the only pitfall of this attribute.

“Uhh, I still don't know about my attribute.” I wanted to ask Osiris to know more about my attribute. I can learn skills based on my attribute only if I come to know more about my attribute.

“Yes. That makes sense. You've got a rare attribute after all. There are only ten people in the history of this world who've got the Aether attribute.”

Only ten? Then that makes me one of the lucky ones.

“In this world, Aether is the element of the universe that exists beyond the other four elements—fire, water, earth, and air. The Aether property contains the power to control gravity and light itself. The Aether element is powered by a celestial being making it a God-level attribute. But even though the attribute is overpowered, there is a side effect of using it. That is, abusing the gravity manipulation skill can potentially lead to death. Each time you use gravity manipulation, your connective tissue gets damaged.”

“Uh, connective tissue?”, I muttered.

“Don’t you know connective tissue? Didn’t you go to school?”, asked the displeased Clara.

Of course, I knew what it was. What I had asked wasn’t meant to be a question. I was purely nonplussed by the side effect.

“I know what it is. It is the tendons, ligaments, cartilage, blood, etc.”, I said proudly.

“Hmm alright.”, Clara was satisfied.

Now about the attribute….what can I say? It is good and all but the penalty for using gravity manipulation is a bit much. Sure, you can just avoid using it altogether. That’s like not drinking water from a spring when thirsty due to fear of germs, but you need to drink that water in order to survive.

Osiris also gave me a sword which also had the light attribute that makes manipulating it easier. He called it the ‘Luminivine Blade’. I had to create my own spells since I didn’t know how the other ten people who had inherited this attribute used this type of magic. I have some ideas and theories that I would like to test out.

Osiris said that we can take a month’s time in order to prepare for combat and also explore this world. During that time, we can test and try out our newly inherited attributes while strengthening the base skills. By the way, a base skill is the skill that comes with the attribute. For example, I have got the ‘Light Magic’ and ‘Gravity Manipulation’ as the base skills for my ‘Aether’ attribute and Clara has got the base skill of ‘Particle Manipulation’ for the ‘Abacomancy’ attribute, Asher has got the ‘Illusion Manipulation” base skill for the ‘Mirage’ attribute.

My plan during this month was to strengthen my light magic to the point where it becomes muscle memory to use it. I plan to hold off on using gravity manipulation because I’m not ready to bear the pain yet. First, I had to strengthen my current scrawny body and gain some muscles to be able to endure the pain.

Time to start living life the way I want from now on.
