Azrael didn't expect to be able to teach himself what he came to the Bard's Guild to learn.

"I'm terribly sorry for being so rude to you earlier! My name is Raphaela, I would love to learn the name of such an accomplished musician as yourself!"

[box border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=3 width=80% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5][col colspan=4 valign=top width=100% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5]New Class: You can become a Bard. Do you want to become a Bard?[/col][/box]

He handed the lute back to her and sighed with a disappointed look on his face.

"My name is Azrael and even if I'm a decent musician, I would never be able to be the best Bard in the world as a Barbarian. Although playing music is fun I do not want to be a bard, sorry."

[box border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=3 width=80% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5][col colspan=4 valign=top width=100% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5]If you decide you want to become a bard later you can do so by returning to the Bard's Guild and performing a song.[/col][/box]

"Here, it isn't much but take this piece of silver in return for that beautiful song you showed me."

"Thank you, but isn't a silver too much for just playing a song?"

"Well, normally that's true but since it was such a wonderful performance I think you deserve it. Actually, if you would be willing to sell that song, we would buy it for a good price."

"Sure, I don't mind, how much are you offering?"

"Is 10 gold enough?"

'Holy shit!'

Azrael thought to himself as he was talking to Raphaela in a calm voice while trying not to express his surprise. 10 gold is 100,000 copper, considering that a beginner normally earns a few coppers from a day of hard work, that's just absurd. Maybe if he asked he could have gotten even more, but it was too risky to push it.

"10 gold is plenty. I'll play it a few more times for you so you can remember it better."

After that he played the song 3 more times and received the 10 gold.

What he couldn't understand was why the city was so poor, when there were fancy statues and all kinds of other art all around Rhodium. Just the materials alone would be worth enough gold to fix everything that was wrong with the city. However, he quickly realized the reason for the poverty. It was a city full of idiots, there was no governor of Rhodium so everyone used that as an excuse to be poor, dirty, homeless beggars and prostitutes. There aren't even crime syndicates or any kind of mafia! Just a bunch of NPC's who are programmed to be pathetic to an excessive extent. Although, maybe in that sense they were at least very realistic.

"Time to go have some fun!"

Azrael exclaimed in an excited voice as he walked into the Alchemist's Guild. However, unlike the bards guild there were no screams, it was more like a library. There were books on the walls and tables, but no one was there to read them. Just one wrinkly old man in a dirty looking grey robe wearing a really poorly made wig, or maybe it was supposed to be an animal fur cap? He was sitting at the reception counter while reading an old book that looked like it would fall apart at any moment.

"Hello, I would like to learn the alchemy skill."

He said it in a clear voice but it seemed like the old man couldn't hear him. When he approached the counter, the mans head smacked against it. It made a dull thud sound and then he slid down onto the floor, it was quite obvious that he was dead. Azrael immediately noticed that the man had cataracts in both eyes and he looked like he was over 100 years old so it wasn't very surprising. He picked up the book the man was reading and then a window popped up.

"Yes."

[box border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=3 width=80% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5][col colspan=4 valign=top width=100% bordercolor=#202020 bgcolor=#f5f5f5]New Crafting Skill: Alchemy[/col][/box]

"Well that was obnoxiously easy... what am I supposed to do about him though?"

Suddenly the mans body turned grey and disappeared. Azrael was surprised but relieved, that meant the body wouldn't kept rotting while he was trying to practice alchemy. Then he realized, if their bodies disappeared after they died like that, then those corpses he saw in the alley weren't dead...

"Oh well, it's not my problem! Time to make some potions."

He said with an evil looking grin on his face as he started to gather up all the random ingredients he could find laying around on the tables and in the cabinets. Unlike the other guilds, there was only one floor and the place was set up more like an herbalist shop mixed with a library. However, in the back of the building, behind the reception desk, there was a room that looked like a chemistry lab. Beakers and all kinds of weird glass tubes were placed around on various tables. The place was completely vacant and no users ever entered the guild hall. Azrael pretty much claimed the whole place for himself and all of the ingredients along with it.

"I wonder what would happen if I mixed this weird bird egg with that green mushroom and that goblin brain?"

In his entire life Michael had never tried any kind of narcotics, the only drugs he ever took were ibuprofen and acetaminophen. However, even if he had extensive experience with a myriad of extremely dangerous chemicals, it would not compare to what he did to himself that night. It started with the green egg drop brain soup, then moved on to the purple nightmare vine casserole and finally ended with a shot of pink manticore venom on the rocks, which happened to be frozen clumps of demonic parasite eggs.

The last time Michael had thrown up was when he had appendicitis, since then he had eaten plenty of bad sushi and other raw seafood that was probably poisonous. Yet he refused to vomit, to him it was worse than having to plunge a toilet that someone else clogged. Azrael was even more resolute in his desire to not vomit under any circumstance, the worst that could happen is death. Death is easy, especially if all he would have to do is not play for 24 hours. He could sleep for 12 to 14 hours and then do plenty of other things while he waits, but if he had to vomit it would be far too extreme a punishment.

"Such a strange creature you are."

A deep feminine voice called out from behind him and when he turned around there was a beautiful elven woman with long wavy blond hair, pure golden eyes without iris', elegantly pointed ears adorned with many large golden rings, and bright golden angelic wings coming out of her back. She was at least 2 meters tall and her skin was a golden color as well, since she wasn't wearing any clothes except some golden nipple rings that connected by a golden chain to her belly button ring and her ear rings. Everything in the room was fuzzy and distorted except for her, she looked perfectly clear in his eyes.

'I guess this is what tripping means...'

He knew that she wasn't real, but then again he was hallucinating in a virtual reality.

"A gigantic body full of nothing but strength and vitality, yet you manage to perform a beautiful song with hands that could easily snap such a flimsy instrument in half. Even with your voice which can easily kill lesser beings, you are capable of singing soft and gently melodies. Now you attempt suicide three times only to end up making yourself more powerful, or perhaps you knew that would happen all along? Just what are you?"

Azrael wanted to respond with a witty retort or a sarcastic comment that would have fit the mood perfectly. When he opened his mouth to speak, a stream of chunky pink, purple and green fluid spewed out of his mouth and passed through her body as she vanished in a golden mist. His worst fear had come to pass, not just vomiting but in-front of a beautiful naked golden elf woman. It was truly a terrible fate, but after a few minutes of intense upheaval the suffering ended and he felt completely health. In fact, he felt even better than he did before.

After recieving a bit more intellect and wisdom he had decided that even if he had to hallucinate and almost die repeatedly, even vomiting every now and then was worth it if he could gain just 1 more stat point!
