Chapter 8

I continue walking till I come across a beautiful white building with gold embellishments and a red carpet entrance. It was surrounded by a 2-and-a-half-meter-high black fence; there was also a gate with spiral decorations at the top. I stroll past it till I notice individuals my age walking around inside. They wore white uniforms with the letters A-F on them. It also has the words "Alryn Academy" stitched on the label. I keep walking till I come across an ancient and rickety-looking structure labeled "adventurer guild" and stroll in boldly. As I come in, I am met with looks from middle-aged men and women. I approach the front desk and inquire about joining the guild. "If you pass the test, you will receive a registration opportunity," the guild desk girl says coldly and flatly. I quickly ask how I take the test, and she gestures to a Man with a robust frame and muscles that threatened to explode out of his tight fitting collared shirt. can you assist me in joining the guild? He examines me carefully and asks, "Are you sure?" I react sarcastically to him, saying, No, I just entered the guild building and asked to register, but I'm not sure if I want to. He smiled as he looked me in the eyes and whispered, "Follow me." He begins to stroll slowly towards a steel door with runic markings on it. While I was following him closely, the others in the building muttered and pointed at me as if I had done something wrong. When I entered the room, the man was nowhere to be found. As I looked around, I heard an enthusiastic voice say, "Survive my blade three times, and you pass." I was taken aback; the only time I had heard a voice this distinct was when the window spoke to me. I mumble, Mineral Blade, as I hear a swish noise. The one-meter rock blade appeared in my hands in an instant, and I turned to face the source of the commotion. I noticed the man staring at me as he rushed in from the direction I was looking and swung his sword with incredible speed. I raised my sword and met the hit head on.

I could practically hear my muscles and bones screech in anguish as I struck. My blade slid out of my left hand as I heard a slight crunching noise. "Only two left," the man exclaimed. When I looked down at my left arm, the man's tremendous force had burned off the skin of my hand. My pulse rate increases as I clench up and try not to scream in pain. The man pounded his foot and charged towards me with lightning speed. I draw my mineral blade and grip it securely in my right hand. However, I couldn't see him this time. When I look around, my back screams in agony, and I see myself flying towards the wall. I use my arms to prevent myself from breaking through the wall. Crunch. My hands make the same crunching sound. When I look at them, it's as if they've turned into zombie skin. My knuckles were bulging with bones, and I could see my veins clearly. "Apep's benediction has been triggered," my heart stopped racing and my hand stopped bleeding. When I look back, I notice the man standing casually, as if he hadn't just nearly killed a child. "Last one," A swish noise rang out in the room. I rolled forward as soon as I heard that tiny noise and attempted to tackle the man. I grip his torso, but he refuses to budge. "You pass," he exclaims, picking me up by my collar as if I were a pet. He takes a vial of crimson liquid from his pocket and forces me to drink it. The agonizing ache dissipated and vanished from my body as if it had never existed.
