SAM JOVIAN - PERSONAL LOG ABOARD THE M.M.V ANTLION
ENTRY DATE: 56.04.15
The Antlion has made thirty successful mining runs to the belt and back, this being the thirty-first. There's a tally mark etched above the main door to the bridge for each run, its rare that a belt miner makes it past twenty runs before its too damaged to be reasonably repaired. The crew of the Antlion are quite proud of their track record — and rightfully so, they take good care of the ship.
Captain Allen is an absolute clean freak, never did see tidier quarters in a ship and it made me realise how messy my own room was! Other than that, he's a very approachable man. Amiable when needs be, and I'm told incredibly collected in the heat of battle.
My chief, John Karlson, is a comparatively chaotic fellow. Every morning he seems to wake up with some completely new schedule but somehow manages to make it to his post right on time without fail. He's a bit hot headed and pretty commanding during work hours, but the rest of the time he's actually surprisingly friendly. I'd definitely say I was glad to have him in the last fifteen or so days — I didn't know one man could know so many card games!

Katrina and John are pretty close, story goes that Kat had found him all dishevelled at a trade port on Venus (did I mention John is Venusian?) and decided to pick him up and take him back to Mars. I've read that Venus ain't too bad now a days but back then it was pretty rough — something about the atmospheric stabilisers that hadn't been fully built yet.
Tomorrow we should be arriving at the first asteroid. There are twenty asteroids on the mission quota, each one that we've got to strip as much material as possible from. Thankfully there's been no encounters with any drones so far, though I doubt that'll stay the case for much longer once we start mining.
