NEW MARTIAN REPUBLIC SPACEFLIGHT ACADEMY - POST-MISSION SPECIAL REPORT

DATE OF REPORT: 56.01.17

REPORT COMMISSIONED BY: Lex Ardin, Academy Director

EXCERPT TRANSCRIPTION OF CONVERSATION BETWEEN LEX ARDIN & DR. CREST

CREST: Clean shot, straight through the armour and out the other side. For sure, this was a Sculptor particle beam.

ARDIN: And the cannon?

CREST: Warped coils, a blown casing, and the capacitors aren’t just fried — they’re completely melted. Cadet ship’s have barely enough power to fire these guns in the first place, an energy surge this large should be a physical impossibility.

Stolen novel; please report.

ARDIN: So how do you say our kid here got so much power?

CREST: Well, if the enemy was what you say it was, then I see the possibility that this may be a side effect of its electronic warfare capabilities. Posit, if you will, a perfect scenario of sorts in which our relatively primitive technology was able to interact with that of the Sculptor’s — much to the detriment of our aggressor.

ARDIN: And you believe such a thing to be true?

CREST: Not really, but it’s the best explanation we’ve got at the moment.

ARDIN: Keep at it, if you think of anything else contact me directly.
