Zayn was unwilling to waste the Soul Wisp of the Goblin Champion he’d killed just now. It would be utterly wasteful to let him discard such a powerful creature when he had the means to keep it by his side.
Integrate 1 Soul Essence into Star of Spirit.
999/1000 → 1000/1000
Requirements to upgrade the Star of Spirit have been met. Please seek a safe place before the upgrade will commence.
Star of Spirit [Novice] has advanced to the [Basic] rank. Congratulations.
Even if Zayn didn’t think upgrading the Star of Spirit in the middle of the battlefield was safe, he had to do it. He grasped the Goblin Champion’s Soul Wisp using Soul Sense and teleported to the border of the settlement. Simultaneously, he willed Champion, the Pyromancer Spirits, and the other Spirit Souls to continue their onslaught of attacks.
A groan escaped his lips as his chest tightened. His perception of the surroundings changed, and a flood of searing hot energy swept through him. The Spirit Souls weighing heavily on his soul didn’t feel that heavy anymore. Their presence was still apparent, but their impact on his soul wasn’t as significant as it used to be.
Zayn expected the Star of Spirit’s upgrade to be less addictive than the other upgrades and to hurt more, but he couldn’t be more wrong. The upgrade filled his entire being with power. His connection to the Spirit Souls grew firmer while his energy pool expanded drastically. The energy coursing through him was more potent, and there was a lot more of it.
The sensation of regaining a portion of the power Zayn once possessed was overwhelming. Upgrading his Spirit was completely different than upgrading the other Foundation Stars. After all, the Star of Spirit had been nourished with ten times more Soul Essences.
However, the power surge didn’t stop with the Star of Spirit. Zayn felt tremendous changes in everything connected to him. His link to the Heart Deck intensified. It felt like the Heart Deck merged with his being. Almost like it was about to become a part of his very existence – properly, this time.
Zayn swallowed hard, the corner of his lips curling into a vibrant grin. It was a devilish smile that would have given other Players the chills if they saw him like this. However, Michael was alone with his Spirit Souls and a bunch of Magma Goblins waiting to be slaughtered.
More kill notifications reached Zayn, but he focused on the Goblin Champion’s Soul Wisp, the instance in which he sensed the remaining space in his soul. The weight of his Tier-1 Spirit Souls was lighter than it used to be. Zayn knew instinctively that he could resurrect Tier-1 Spirit Souls with a simple mental command and that it would be impossible for them to escape his grasp. They had to follow his command, whether they wanted or not.
Zayn resurrected the Goblin Champion.
[Soul Link succeeded. The connection to Magma Goblin Champion Soul has been established.]
The second Champion Spirit formed before him. Zayn didn’t watch as it manifested. Instead, he stored it in an Empty Spirit Card before returning to the battlefield.
He used Lifeforce Conversion with a portion of his remaining lifeforce and kicked the ground hard. He propelled his body to the most crowded location in the settlement and released the Champion Spirit alongside two heavy Onyx Scimitars. The Champion Spirit grasped the heavy Onyx Scimitars and charged the masses of monsters.
A few fireballs whizzed past his head, but the Champion Spirit ignored them. It focused on the Magma Goblins and cut them apart with heavy yet highly destructive attacks. Even though the Magma Goblin Vanguards and Berserkers tried to block the attacks, they – alongside their heavy armor – were cut apart. The Onyx Scimitars sustained significant damage almost immediately after the Second Champion joined the battle, but the weapons were still cut for killing a bunch of Goblins.
Zayn sensed the connection to most Spirit Souls cut. Only the Hellhound, both Champions and a few Pyromancers were left. Even the Blazing Savage Spirits had been defeated.

That was unfortunate, but it wasn’t like Zayn’s energy was on the verge of drying. The Spirits were disposable, and Zayn had more than enough Soul Wisps swirling around him to create a not-so-small army.
He did that after integrating the Soul Essences he’d obtained from his Spirit Souls’ carnage.
Integrate 143 Soul Essences into the Star of Spirit.
1000/10,000 → 1143/10,000
Star of Spirit was his strongest Foundation by far, but the Lord Rune augmented his Foundation by another 10%, pushing Star of Spirit to 1257. That was enough to transform the Soul Wisps around him into a bunch of Spirit Souls.

Zayn ignored the throbbing pain in his chest as the weight on his soul increased suddenly. He’d felt worse before, and he knew that he would feel a lot more pain in the future. But now was not the time to hesitate. An amazing opportunity to grow stronger appeared before him. Zayn chose to grasp it, no matter the sacrifices he had to make.
He hurled the Goblin Spirit Souls at the remaining Magma Goblins while commanding the Champions to attack the Goblin Shaman. The Champions charged the Goblin Shaman, who used Misty Step to escape before releasing a few energy bullets at Zayn.
The Goblin Shaman pinpointed Zayn as the main culprit and tried to finish him while he was in pain. But Zayn was not that easy to kill. He was ready to use Blink but chose not to when the Hellhound and Pyromancer Spirit released blazing projectiles at the energy bullets.
The energy bullets exploded alongside the blazing projectiles while the Champions and the Hellhound leaped toward the Goblin Shaman. Meanwhile, Zayn had long since made his move. Since he didn’t have to evade the energy bullets, Zayn prepared a proper attack to restrain it. He gathered enough energy and used Florakinsis and Nature’s Wrath several times. Roots shot out of the ground and the surrounding structures. They coiled around the Shaman’s wooden wand, arms, and waist.
The Goblin Shaman’s staff was torn out of his hand as a thin root pierced his wrist. The Goblin Shaman was pulled away from the ground as the roots tightened around his arms. Zayn lifted him into the air, his eyes lingering on the surroundings, ensuring the Goblin Shaman wouldn’t use the opportunity to counterattack.
However, the Goblin Shaman was under too much pressure to do something. The roots were several times stronger than before, and more enemies were charging at it. But even worse was that it had been forced to use too much energy fighting the other Spirit Souls.
It managed to kill the Spirit Souls but wasn’t given enough time to regenerate the energy it had consumed. No matter how high the Goblin Shaman’s Wisdom and Perception were, it couldn’t create dozens of Energy Barriers and Energy Bullets if it was sucked dry. At this point, the Goblin Shaman didn’t have enough energy to use Misty Step. It squeaked in desperation and tried escaping, but its physical traits were too low to tear the roots apart by force. At this point, a single Energy Bullet wouldn’t have been enough to rip the roots apart. They were reinforced by a Spirit Foundation of more than 1200 Units.
The Champions appeared before the squeaking Goblin Shaman and did what they could do best. They used brute force to cleave their enemy apart.
Spirit Soul has slain Magma Goblin Shaman(Peak Tier-1 Raid Boss).
+51 Soul Essences, +2 Uncommon Cards, +6 Rare Card Shards.
The corner of his lips curled upward.
‘That was easier than expected. It looks like Raid Bosses are easier to handle now. I broke Forgotten Lands’ balance with the Soul Lord Path,’ He thought, a peal of laughter escaping his lips.
Zayn understood very well what that meant. Breaking the game’s balance meant that he exceeded the expectations of Forgotten Lands’ creators. He… exceeded the expectations of Gods, several at that.
But that was only the beginning. Zayn knew that breaking Forgotten Lands’ balance was only the beginning. It was necessary to grow stronger enough to face the Primordial Pantheon head-on.
Still, it was only the beginner.
Nonetheless, Zayn felt amazing. He was ready to keep moving forward. Determination flickered in his eyes.
‘I will be ready for you. Dare to step into my territory, and you will see what will happen!’
