Chapter 404.9: The Whizzing Sound of a Passing Deadline

Welp! Second deadline for my relaxed schedule and there it goes. Which is super not great feeling! Bonus points for picking the wrong upload time in late night fugue!

Got some full “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed” vibes for myself, rather unpleasant. Not helped by the most of a chapter that I did manage to scrape together and then, on reread, sent off to the shredder (a different word document where scraps go to die). Everything felt stilted, but not in an intentional way, and I had folks acting out of character in a way that did not sit well with me.

The sluggishness on my front is largely due to real life stress, unfortunately, but things are clearing up hopefully. Putting the finishing touches on a project at work, a looming social endeavor is soon to come and go, the like. And hopefully with that stuff out of the way, I can find more comfortable space to write within the week, is my goal.

I really enjoy writing, and I really enjoy these characters and their world and the *plot*, slow as it might be. And having the stuff I don’t super enjoy in life edge out the stuff that I do enjoy is rough, but is temporary, or so I will continue to tell myself.

On top of that, we are heading into October, which is the best month of the year, by far! Best month in the best season and just good vibes all around it, which will help keep things moving up in the word-conjurin’, English-bastardizin’ lump o’ meat I gots. And I hope that everyone who reads this non-chapter, and all those who don’t read it, have a wonderful run up into spooky season!
