AwesomeEllie here, author of Flipping Fantasyland, here with a message…
That we have been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty!
Ha! Got ‘em. But no, the actual message is that I’ve been sick. Not, like, anything big or severe, just under the weather and a bit fevered, feeling bad all around. That is not good authoring vibes though, unfortunately, so this week’s chapter did not get put together. Some day I’ll actually get something of a chapter backlog present and it’ll just dip into there and chapters will flow forth seamlessly, in spite of my Scienceland hiccups, and none of y’all will be any wiser.
That ain’t this day though, so here we are. Still alive, still jazzed for the rest of this arc and this story, and still appreciating anyone who has read this deep in, some 26 chapters plus a prologue! In fact, I recently got my first two reviews for this story, of the written-out-with-star-rating type, and I gotta say, I’ve been trying to figure out if it would be weird to print them out and hang them up? Is that too much?
One is a splendid little review that I appreciate, although if you did get this far in and decide to read the author’s ramblings, Reviewer, I will warn you that the romance will be going up, eventually. But I am Southern of heritage, so it’ll be a bit slow in the telling of it.

The other is a bit… well. I mentally classify it as a hater review, and I love it for that too! Because I dunno if anyone read the story summary, but I feel like I was pretty clear and up-front on this being a very queer story? So a review decrying that ‘basic biology’ is not being diegetically respected in this egregiously magical world of wonder and nonsense is very funny to me, and a hearty sign of a job well done. I’m not even sure what or who that part is directed at tbh, but it’s funny. We have not even gotten to just how many deities are more than willing to spin up some magical gender juice to ensure that folks are in the skin that makes them comfortable. Falls under a lot of divine purviews and is a solid sales tactic!
All that to say, I enjoy and appreciate what feedback I am getting. Reviews are great (even if I don’t agree with what a person says or where they’re coming from), comments are great, whole standard comment-lycansubscribe spiel. You’re 26 chapters in and I appreciate having readers!
Behind the scenes tidbit is that pretty much every arc I have planned out, because I do outline in advance, has a pun-based name that will never actually be the name of that… book? Volume? And as we have now gotten far enough that it will no longer be a spoiler, the working title for this arc is ‘The Insurants Policy’!
I hope some of y’all took psychic damage from that, and that you have an otherwise lovely day.
