I am not surprised that she was able to figure it out based on the way I acted. When she spoke it was warm, genuine, and understanding. Up until that point, I never thought I could ever really truly have an adult or anyone speak to me like that. It truly didn't feel like I was alone for once.

It may be hard to believe but....in that moment I changed.

It wasn't a fast process and slowly I did change, I started to repay her kindness to me and she took me in. No, she didn't adopt me but she took me in to care for me. She was the closest thing I had to a mother in a long, long time. Of course, that was just a small time of peace. The event that followed behind is what got me here.
