A group of people could be seen running through a forest whose trees had no leaves, the ground was black like that of an oil spillage site, being pursued by a shadowy figure having glowing white eyes. aving glowing white eyes. The group of shadow figures trailed them on hot pursuit.
One of the men cried out in horror, which he had witnessed before. Out of frustration, they fired rounds after rounds at the shadows. It had no effect. Soon the figure had attached itself to the man like a baby holding onto its mother tightly. Moments later he fell to the ground, his helmet rolling off his head, revealing a dried mummified corpse.
They ran as their numbers continued to decrease until there were only a few dozen left. They approached a cave that had a faint glow of light that seemed to flicker consistently. Their leader in front had given a signal with his hand, and everyone ran for the cave. Upon reaching the cave and turning back, the shadows had disappeared into the night, leaving them all alone. He sat on the floor, making a thud sound, which was followed by chatter here and there from his team members. Removing his helmet revealed a dark-skinned human.
They had no understanding of this region. It had not been mapped in their mission. They had followed all procedures and ended up in a strange place. No signal, no backup, and worst of all, they had crash-landed due to these strange creatures. Now they all sat a bit in the cave with no one speaking up so far. Some were still shaking in their boots from the near-death encounter they just had.
Approaching him who sat on the floor was another of his teammates, who also revealed her face from her helmet. She had back hair and a dark gray pupil, but the most striking thing about her was her facial beauty. She had given him a summary of their condition. From around thirty-eight people, only fifteen are left. Looking around, two more people approached him; one was a man who had no hair on his face, and the other was a woman who had snow white hair and a pupil having the shade of the moon.
They all had expressions of distress written on their faces, and though they tried to hide it, the leader saw through them. After all, they had been through a lot the past nine years. He gave them his usual weird smile and stretched his hand, signaling he needed help to stand. They rested for a few hours while they put up a plan to contact base. The leader finally decided to speak up.
“Gilly status report”
The dark-haired woman glanced around before she decided to speak up.
“Out of the thirty-eight people we came with, we have only fifteen left.”

This was a fatal blow for the entire team. Even their team brain, Larry, was the first victim of the slaughter. They had to run around in circles for hours until they found this safe haven. Noticing the chatter, the snow white-haired woman turned back, glaring at those who were complaining.
“Let them be Sara; everyone has the right to complain. I mean, we all lost someone.”
She glanced at the man with no facial hair before turning back to Uyi, their leader. Referring to the man without facial hair, the leader continued.
"Fed, apart from us four, who else has powers?”
He shook his head faintly. This was clear to the three leaders. No one had powers outside the mentioned four, and those who had, for some reason, could not use them. They had been sucked into a space-time rupture and crashed into this planet without warning.
Now their lives were on the line, as they were now prey to mysterious beings. The only person who could help them adjust was Larry, who had been killed first, and now even if they had any hope of surviving, it could not come into play without them first fixing their ship. Resources were left behind when they had fled; only the rations they had in the suits they wore were all that was left.
Uyi, now leading the way, led them further into the cave, which led to an open dome underground, the walls covered in crystals that glowed alternatively. The beauty was a sight to behold, as such did not exist back on Earth. They were approaching on high alert with heads on the lookout for each individual.
A large crashing sound was heard from the rear, followed by a series of screams and gunshots. The smell of blood filled the air as large, glowing eyes could be seen staring at them from the dust clouds now settling. Two corpses lay on the floor; one was Fed, who was further; he behind had been cleaved in half without much resistance.
A loud tone followed the commotion "run" as they all dashed in the opposite direction. It was a large centipede, which was the size of a train that had six carriages. Uyi made different hand gestures, which in turn made his men line up in different formations, and now turning back, they released a barrage of bullets on the now visible centipede.
The battle soon ended as it ended as it began. Sara, who stood in front beside Uyi, was crushed by a bolder falling from the cave ceiling. One after the other, they fell until Uyi, who was now injured by stray particles from the ceiling, was now struggling to walk away from the scene further into the cave.
“Its hopeless”
His thought was cut short when Gilly reached out to help him. The slaughter went on as Gilly assisted Uyi to walk, his right arm missing and his face bloodied. His teammates had almost been wiped out, Fed cleaved in half, and Sara, without lower limbs, her face frozen with an horrified expression. More volleys rang out with echoing screams as Gilly trudged forward with Uyi, her shoulder bleeding from the pierce wound inflicted by the centipede.
Uyi had seen how the monster played with them, with the only damage done to it being from Gilly. They were in front of a deep hole, and Uyi stood tall, letting go of Gilly's shoulder. She was tired and panting heavily, and her eyes were deep red, but she pressed on. He smiled and pushed her slightly. Gilly fell backward into the hole and could not move, for she was weak.
“No, no, why do I have to lose everything again?”
While falling, she looked up, and now Uyi’s figure floated up, the centipede’s claw gradually becoming visible. Blood dribbled down onto Gilly as she fell deeper down the hole. All of her friends and her team members were dead. She bellowed, with eyes bloodshot from rages, her figure glowing like a blinding light as she fell into the water below.
