CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

Gilly had been forced to rest for two extra days, when she finally left the room, Aroelan walked with her as a body guard. This was first awkward but she had gotten used to it by the third day. Zin had an important questup north so he was away with Xing and some other high ranking adventurers from Asram and Euynia.

This caused her to be bored, this stretching on for days. The people she knew were either busy, like Ephini or were not around. She took a troll round town, eventually, she came across the hill at the outskirts of the town. It had a stairway leading up which she climbed. Aroelan did not stop her following her quietly.

At the top was an estate, with structures very different from the town. It had strange buildings; some looking like temples, others looking like houses. They all had one thing in common, they were all made entirely of wood and a thick paper for the wall in some parts. Though she was dressed differently and basically stood out with her look of curiosity, the residents went about their daily routine, paying her no mind.

“This is lords Mizin’s residence,” Aroelan had seen her confused expression so he had to talk. Gilly felt a sense of panic hearing that name and she turned back trying to leave.

“You're not about to leave without saying hello, are you?”.

A voice boomed from the centre of the estate, as the sweat on her back turned cold. At that time, her worst fear came true, she turned back smiling awkwardly.

“Lo-, Lord Mizin, of course not, I merely didn't wish to bother you with my presence.”

Her voice was shaky, te memories from the test day still fresh.

“Come on in.”

At this point, she could no longer flee, walking so reluctantly she looked like a robot.

When she entered the building, she observed that it had no furniture, the floor was made of wood, properly polished. There was only a low sitting couch and floor pillows at one end. Mizin was casually sitting on the couch with one hand slightly supporting her head. She opened her eyes and smiled, waving her hand. Gilly drew closer and Aroelan shut the door, leaving the two alone.

“So, what do you think of the test you passed?”

Gilly’s mind became blank hearing this question, her expression revealing her though. She sniffed the air, noticing a strange scent coming from Mizin. The Aroma calmed her down, she could see a faint like of smoke rising behind her.

“It's meditation incense, relaxing right?”

Gilly knew at this point that Mizin was just bored and wanted to talk.

She had to choose her words, trying not to annoy her,

“I have no idea why you did what you did that day, but I think I finally understand how the world works. After all you need strength to survive."

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Mizin was shocked at her response, bursting into a laughter that made Gilly feel awkward. Mizin had to calm down because she was already tearing up from laughing.

“You act exactly like her.

"Since you understand, I think you will be fine. Bring that board let me show you how to play”.

She pointed to her legs, beside them was a board and a pouch.

Getting the hang of the board game, they played for hours while Mizin told her about the world, starting with the Elven Dynasty. Apparently, the elves were of seven different types, the snow elves who had white hair and skin like Katherine and Snow. Water elves who had dark blue hair and high affinity for water like Ponu and his grandchildren. Mountain elves which had brown or black hair with high affinity for earth magic, Forest elves with green hair reside in the forest. Star elves like Seras who have high magic potential. Shadow elves which are the only elves that have a dark mana attribute. Finally, were the elves considered as the world tree successors. They have light blue hair, with Mizin revealing Gilly and her mothers' siblings being good example.

With that she told her about the types of elves. They were high elves. The name was derived from where they lived, the floating island of Elior to the North of the continent. It was led by Elna’s elder sister, Somarina. And the dark elves, who worshiped the god of destruction which opposed the natural elves who worshiped the goddess of creation.

Both had been created when the Dynasty was in chaos five hundred years ago. Elna was found with a child of a human king, Gilad who was known as the hero king that appeared towards the end of the Draconic war. It had been a losing war for the other races, who forged an alliance to oppose the dark faction of the dragon race led by Latrynx. The situation became hopeless when the Primordial Dragon known as the Darkone appeared.

The war waged on for years until King Gilad slayed Latrynx using the dragon bone. Without a leader, the dark faction couldn't really together, as they fought a losing battle, the dragon god Cyx chased Darkone as far as the great unknown to the south. The demons who sided with the dragons led by the Primordial Demon Venti was defeated by Seras. This sequence of events saw the war end.

Elna had tried to flee Elador after she was discovered with the child. To improve her chances, Gilad, Richard, Historia, and Mizin had fought off the entire Elven. In this chaos, Somarina had fled with her followers in the thousands up north. Zyn led his own followers to the south, each under instruction of the world tree. Many things happened on the way. Since no other royal blood was available for the royal blood was available for the ceremony, Elin became Queen.

The world tree abolished the law and set a rule for the world using the divine council. The strong ruled but the weak must be treated fairly. Since he was the first primordial entity, the goddess of creation, even Venti the demon god and Cyx the dragon could not refuse, enforcing the law in the world.

This rule set by the tree sounded weird to her. This rule basically gave the strong a chance to bully the weak, defeating it's original purpose. Mizin, upon seeing her expression, sighed before explaining further. The Divine council and demigod council oversaw continent and regions, when the weak are over looked, they took the necessary action. But they avoided interfering too much, to not offset the balance in power between races.

If the reason for a war is valid, then they did not interfere as such is the natural order of things. But if it turns to a planned massacre, actions were made to reduce the population of the race that went on the killing spree.

This explanation gave Gilly a head ache, the entire system sounded contradictory. Mizin shook her head, not knowing what to say anymore.

“I think its best you experience the world. By doing so, you will understand how the rules play in the natural order of things”.

Gilly spent the night there, talking all through with Mizin, who seemed happy to have her company. By morning, it was time to set out for the city of Asramus in the province of Waterwheel.
