EQUESTEA: CHAPTER SIXTEEN

The more Mizin spoke about the past, the more Gilly’s brow furrowed. Her head was beginning to pound. She tried to remember but there was nothing coming forth. Ephini observed this with Curiosity; she knew a lot about magic and the signs she was seeing was a possibility of memory concealment.

“Lord I think we will get nowhere with this, seems like her memory is sealed”.

Mizin paused for a moment then frowned

"I wonder why she did that, was it to protect her? Anyway I can think of any other explanation”.

She sighed, though she was excited seeing at least Elim’s children which was Ephini and Zin. Now she was seeing Robert and Elna’s children which came as a surprise .

The fact she could not remember was unfortunate.

“Then I will now explain the royal family and why you should be careful of the queen”.

The royal family had two daughters and a son before the last king Arimi ascended to become a pseudo spirit. Though some of the names have been long forgotten some are still remembered.

The first daughter was elegant, having white hair and fair skin. She was the mother of Snow, the leader of the council and her brother Iylin leads the first province of Winter hut located in the North just after the capital. The second daughter was Gilly’s grandmother who became a pseudo spirit just after six hundred years. She had five children.

The First was Somarina. She left the dynasty after the coup and founded a new Elven kingdom up north called Elior. This is located after Loatim just before Haven pass. The second was a son named Garamil, who was the leader of the Elven royal guards and led the pursuit of the former queen during The Purge. The third was Elna, Gilly’s mother. She was chased down by the entire dynasty for having a Halfling child with a human, which was considered a taboo among elves. The fourth, a son named Zyn who founded the dark elf Kingdom in the south which has a good relationship with Abil and other demon lords.

The last was the brat who wanted the throne for herself. Elin had planned all The Purge and coup with some outside help. She had a bad reputation because since she ascended the throne, it had been a disaster for all from The Purge down to the draconic war. Ephini's face contorted on hearing the name Elin.

The last of the king Arimi was Seras the stars, the sister lora mother of Elna. This came as a surprise to Valmor and Ephini as they did not know their root. They only knew her as grandmother, Elim not mentioning anything about it. Elim was Seras' only child and the wife of Valmor who died years ago when she was attacked by an unknown entity and had to burn her soul to save the half elves she had rescued.

Gilly did not look away, she listened carefully to Mizin, surprised she was royal blood.

"No one in the royal family bared grudge against you. In fact, if Snow and Garamil found out, I doubt they will let you leave the capital. They were not able to save their sister but at least they can protect her child.”

Gilly was quiet for a moment before asking an overarching question.

“will Elin try to kill me?”.

Mizin nodded.

“But not for the reason you think, and it also is another reason which Snow and Garamil might stand a neutral ground in your case”. Valmor was surprised, he had thought that Elin would kill Gilly because of her sister.

Ephini had an idea behind Mizin statement, she had hit the truth but now she had to say it.

“Gilly...,” she felt guilty for a moment then she proceeded

“you are an Other worlder!”.

Valmor's eyes widened as it finally struck him; the power Gilly had used to face Zatrynx was Soul Burn, a royal family technique used to gain power at the expense of one’s soul. But yet Gilly was still alive, Valmor knew this was only a fact but if she survived it means she was equivalent to an original other worlder.

Gilly took the entire conversation knowing her life was now facing more danger. When it came to the topic of other worlders there were different points of view. Some worshiped them, others revered them as in the case of the vampire king. Some hated them to the point of killing them and that was the case of the elves.

Mizin was the only one who did not seem bothered by the fact.

“Child, don’t worry, only those who have reached a demigod rank can sense your aura so provided you do not use your magic in the capital”.

That was one, “secondly in order to no worry at all, there is one option”. Valmor smiled but soon his face was sour, “you can become my disciple”. Ephini smiled was weird as it was like a mix of two drinks, between nervousness and happiness.

“Disciple,” She repeated, “is Zin your disciple?”.

This word caused Valmor and Ephini to tense up, Mizin had a weird relationship with her disciple Zin. She had asked him to marry Ariel but he refused and had been avoiding her since. “Yes, he is,” She smiled as she responded to Gilly but she knew there was more to that smile. “so…?” Gilly hesitated then nodded.

Mizin laughed seeing her expression “she is just like her”, “both mother and child too shy to express their true feeling”. She patted her on the head like a mother adoring her child she smiled.

After a few updates concerning their departure to the capital for the council meeting, Valmor led Gilly out to get food while Ephini and Mizin went towards the office.

“Ephini, a man that is wearing a turban and a jacket, his name is Kabir and he is at the sparring field, go fetch him for me,” she bowed and left leaving Mizin walking in the hall way.

...

A dark skinned man was eating a fig under a small tree when he was approached by an elf having golden hair and pupil.

"Are you Kabir?”

This question was met by a sour response.

“who you…?” Ephini, who was familiar with such kind of people, she smiled before answering. “The Lord asked me to fetch you,” he paused chewing on the fruit in his hand with a raccoon now visible from his turbine. “Are you the new chief?” she did not answer just smiled.

He had just disrespected the chief of the town and worst was that she was Zin’s elder sister.

“I'm so sorry for how I responded earlier,” he got up and bowed, knowing his limit. He feared his master and Zin more than he feared the sea. Ephini had heard of Kabir and though she had heard great things, seeing him was rather disappointing.
