CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

+ “Unique skill language beatification is now active.”

At this time, Gilly was already used to the voice call in her mind, paying less and less attention to it. She was hesitant, not having any writing experience, but wrote at once. Gilly was surprised that she could write, as she hadn't tried until now. She brought out her Camper One badge and touched the ball. The woman looked at her with keen interest.

Among all of them present, Gilly was the one with the most formidable aura, making Monica feel like a rat in the presence of a cat

.

But yet she was only a Camper two.

“We will need two rooms that can fit two people each.”

Aroelan called out to Monica, who was lost for words looking at Gilly. They paid two silver for three nights and received their keys. They rested until the morning the next day, when the red sun was up.

Astoria, as usual, dragged Gilly around the town as they explored the dock and other places. It had less land and more buildings.

Aroelan settled into his meditation while Henry read his book, both not leaving their rooms. When the day was up, news had come in that a ship headed to the island was attacked and no one had survived. This made Aroelan rush downstairs, with Henry following closely behind.

A few adventurers had already gathered at the desk, with Gilly and Astoria being in their midst. A small boat carrying eight people who went fishing at dawn was attacked. When it was investigated by the patrol team, they saw a few corpses afloat. One was that of a toad face.

Then Monica, the guild master, issued a decree that the Lord of the Province has given an order that every toad face killed with proof will earn the person one silver.

From the statement of those who had been there before Gilly arrived, the initial offer was ten coppers, but now that the danger had increased, they increased it tenfold, which is one silver. The price was alluring, and the danger posed was more, which made adventurers wonder if the mission was still a good idea. They were assigned patrol posts around the island, which was one copper per shift.

No incident occurred for the rest of the day cycle; on the first day of the night cycle, the town bell rang out loud. Gilly was sound asleep when she was woken up by sounds of screaming. Staring out of the window facing south, some of the town buildings were on fire, and cries of panic could be heard from afar.

They quickly got up and equipped themselves before leaving.

When they arrived, it was a mess; the entire southern dock was on fire. No ship was spared.

The incident caused panic among the townspeople, as it was evident that they were targeting their possible escape routes. Worst of all, it had happened right in front of an adventurer who was on patrol duty.

After the fire was put out, the ships were only worthy of being fuel.

The day passed, and certain incidents would continue to occur at the four cardinal points of the island until no ship was left on the island.

Only the few boats they had pulled deep into the city remained.

The fifth day was fairly quiet, and though no incident occurred, the city was on high alert. Everybody who lived close to the shore relocated to the innermost parts of the city.

Aroelan had taken the watch tower as his post. Based on rank, he had superior vision since he was now the highest-ranked adventurer in the town, with even Monica listening to his advice.

The sixth day passed without any major incident. Just some sighting of some Toad Face gathering around the shoreline.

On the seventh day, the alarm bell rang out as the guild mobilized all the manpower they could muster.

The south and western parts of the town were gradually being encroached upon by Toad Face demons as they gradually made land fall. But the problem was that among the demons, some demihumans who had shark fins on their back and gills on their throat emerged as well.

The total number of adventurers in the town was around seventy, but half of them were injured, and some could no longer be considered battleworthy. The enemy numbered in the hundreds, mostly toad faces, but a few Mare sharks were spotted within. The highest known rank of a toad face was Knight two, but for a Mare shark, it was Calamity two.

Although none of the enemies was above the rank of Hunter two, their numbers were the problem.

Aroelan took command of the southern front, where he walked with Henry and other people. To the west were Gilly and Astoria, and the command was given by Monica. For hours, they struggled as the more they slayed, the more they emerged from the ocean.

Gilly and Astoria emerged as the major damage dealers in front, while Monica and other mages supported from behind.

Although they were determined, their enemies seemed endless, and they began to pull back as some careless adventurers had fallen during the process. The non-fighting adventurers and other citizens helped evacuate to the northern side of the island, sending a distress signal to other islands in Feather Island province.

Aroelan was able to stall the enemy in position, and with the aid of Henry's recovery magic, they stood their ground.

At this time, the defense line was no longer even as the western line was pushed back. The monsters, embodying some higher intelligence, took the opportunity, and some broke off from the streetside, seeking to ambush Aroelan's unsuspecting group.

Monica, noticing this, called out, having a very serious expression. They were outnumbered, and now the enemy was planning to ambush Aroelan. There was nothing they could do as they had lost some people.

Aroelan’s group was not aware of the danger since they were facing even more pressure. The toad faces waned with the Mare Sharks increasing, which took time to deal with.

……

A scream rang out to the side, and when Henry turned, he saw a mage had been slayed as more Toad faces poured from the side. This did not go unnoticed by Aroelan, but he was too busy fighting three shark men of Predator one rank. Facing one mere shark was no joke, as they used water magic to regenerate but their bodies from damage, and Areolan was facing three of them.

Aroelan had no option as Henry had to deal with the incoming attack from the side. Since the battle started, he had kept his distance from the battle using long-range spells, but now he lunged forward.

When he landed, a hot regalia filled the air; the air seemed to burn as countless flaming spears formed behind Henry. He stood facing the monsters as they poured out from the street corner.

The spears looked like tiny needles of varying length. They were boosted by wind magic as soon as Henry opened his green grimoire as the needles began to spin, making them pale red in color. As soon as he finished preparations, he ordered all facing the side to focus and follow Aroelan’s order with him alone focusing on them.

One by one, the demons fell as one needle was all it took to take them down. The street was too narrow, so only Toad's face could fit through. This display of strength surprised all the adventurers there and gave them more will to fight.

The situation on Gilly End was bad; not only had they been pushed back, but the monster had diverted some forces to deal with the other party in the south. When they were about to battle, Aroelan had mentioned the words of King Richard to keep their powers hidden as much as possible.

Astoria could not hold back as her red pupil glowed; she had been using only magic since, but now the bow of her umbrella shot forward, killing several enemies, including a Mare shark. When she caught the bow, it was a shield in her hand, and she lunged forward, killing more.
