Chapter 5

Chapter 5

The woman dressed in black jet took command, dictating where and when they should move, this doesn’t sit well with Tome. Her voice was a big disturbance to his ear, her eyes which were empty and filled with something at the same time irritates him, her look of superiority over them doesn’t sit well with him. Tome has always been detached from the world centered with the opposite gender, this was steaming from the harsh and lingering experience he had with his mother. Though he doesn’t remember her face anymore, Tome could still feel her touch when she injected him with things not meant for the human body. Tome vividly remembers the expression she makes after she injects him with those toxics, fascination? Does she view his torments as a source of entertainment? Years have passed and the world has changed a bit. His feelings for his mother didn’t. The most daunting part of all this is that the woman dressed in jet black as a striking resemblance to his mother. After all these years, she reincarnated just to torment him again.

“That passage is filled with magical substances, so everybody should mind the way they walk, put less weight on her legs.” The woman dressed in blackness said, there was no complaints from everybody, this infuriated Tome. Why are they all bowing to her orders? Tome thought. “ I really don’t know about you though.” The jet black woman said looking at Tome, he felt something tight in his chest, when her eyes met his. Was it pain? or longing he thought. But at the center of it all was pure blistering anger! “Who gave you the authority to order us around?” Tome blunt out, towering above the woman. The woman looked at Tome with a blank expression, the same his mother always does after the toxic in his body wears off. “ You can go your own way, I’m not holding you back.” The woman snorted. Tome couldn’t hold back his anger any longer, he grabbed the woman by the neck so fast that she couldn’t even react. Why didn’t you say that to me earlier! When you had me tied in chains!

You didn’t let me go, tormenting me day and night. You laughed at my dismay, and felt indifferent to my healing. Those words Tome wanted to say but couldn’t because of how hard his teeth are grinding at each other with anger. Tome snapped the woman's neck like a chicken but he was careful enough not to kill her and kept her conscious. He remove a big boulder from the wall and smashed it on the woman's head. Tome always fantasized about doing this to her for centuries. The feeling was euphoric, ecstasy enveloping his body. Though the woman might not be his mother, they look alike. Their body structure might not be the same, he knows her physique too well even if she changed her appearance but Tome felt a connection to this woman, something he has only felt towards his mother.

Tome smashed the boulder repeatedly on her head until there was nothing left, he was laughing vividly. It has finally come to pass the visions he had along those millennials. Tome doesn’t know what will happen next because his very existence was building up to this moment.

“You don’t have to kill him.” The girl in white tuxedo said, everybody eyes were on me. I don’t know why but it made my skin itch. “ I just put him in a dream state of his greatest desire before his de— wait how do you know I killed him?” The girl smiled and that smile told me all I needed to know. “ The name is Ruth, if you’re wondering.” It felt like she could read me, bringing her words she said earlier to me back to my mind.

“We could have used his strength, anything might show up here, it’s such a pity.” The man with the massive bag said. Well too bad for that we will make up for it. “Let’s get going, staying in one place might attract some attention.” I gestured to them to follow me and they did. The whole building seems to be complex and made entirely of magic, very old magic. I can’t seem to find the end of it. The building is growing at an alarming rate, corridors, passages and rooms stretching everywhere at once.

It could be a ploy to pull me off. Baldwin seems like a person capable of such stuff. Does he really plan to have us play this death game of his? “How long is it, till we get out of the magical concentrated zone?” The girl with dead eyes spoke, this is the first time she had said anything since I got here. “You did mention we need to stick together first to get out of the zone.” She really doesn't want to be around here or maybe around us I guess. “I really don’t know, the entire building is playing some trickery on my senses but I can guarantee a little bit more further. Then everyone can go their own way.” She nods and continues forward, those eyes of hers are so empty just like a void. “The building seems ancient, the weird markings and frequency are not from here.” The man with the big bag butt in.I wonder what he meant by ‘here’ it’s true the building is probably not from this plane, probably from another dimension. The markings on the wall are similar to the ones in the coven, it’ll probably pique my interest if it wasn’t for this predicament.

We walked in a large corridor that’s adjacent to a massive hall, the wall was decorated with a spiral design. The spirals seem to be imbued with magic because if you stare long enough they would seem to be moving. “This is where we part ways.” The spirals aside, I can’t detect any magic here. “Oh we are out of the zone?” His voice irritates me for a reason I can’t explain. “The name is Rike. Miss sorceress.” I massage my neck still left sore by the ordeal with the massive thug. I roamed my eyes around contemplating where I should go, then I noticed the dead eyed girl was nowhere to be found, that was quick. For the first time I saw the twins, it took me off guard because they were out of my radar all these time. They have a blank expression on their face. Both of their eyes fixated on me, I wonder how long they have been it. Everybody had already started moving on their ways but the twins' legs were rooted on the floor.

“Umm—” The place vibrated and stopped instantly. Everybody's attention was drawn to the passage next to us. The passage was filled with a smoke like substance, I can sense something deep inside those cloudy dust. Whatever lurks inside there is made entirely out of magic. The vibration started again, it felt like a thousand feet stomping the ground, the mist faded away and our disturber came to view. Three gigantic centipedes made out stones, their legs were made out of metals and oddly sharp and pointy. The creature's eyes were made of black smoke spiraling. I could feel their death stare and bet the other could feel it too. Maybe I should have stayed home and just read the letter, this is really going to be stressful and I don’t think any of us are leaving here unscathed.
