I woke up to the morning light beeping through the window. I was on the bed, Essie was nowhere to be seen, I couldn't feel her presence in the house. I guess she has work, there was a note on the bed. Jfjgv
Get out before 10
The house will auto lock after then
And you'll be stuck inside till next week
Help yourself to the fridge
I looked at my phone. It's two hours to ten. My body is still weak and a full day's sleep will help me that much.
I have no choice but to go. The fridge was massive and I am never going to get used to the size. But everytime I open it, I always get annoyed because the fridge is filled with nothing but fruits and it's not even the type of fruits we know. They taste so bad to me at least. But it's all I have, this is somehow related to Essie scheming but I have no choice. One bite in and it tastes like those chunky food they serve at prison not that I know how it tastes. Nevermind I'm not eating it, the living room has a massive TV in it, everytime I come to the house,it always gets bigger. My stomach growled, screaming at me for food, having nothing to reply it with, I head to the bathroom.
The mirror came to view, I applied steam on it, which concealed the reflection on it . The reflection that irks me so much. Still staring at the foggy mirror, I felt anxious going back there. I just want it to be quick, this feeling I hate. At least I should look good while going there. Making a gesture towards my face. My hair moved, tiny particles crawled across my face, I don't usually apply makeup but for today at least, looking good for Adbula farewell is warranted.
I left the house five minutes to ten and waited to see if Essie wasn't bluffing, as the clock hit ten. A transparent shield covered the door, the magical content on it is something even me can't unlock, good one Essie.
The sky was heavy with dark clouds, it was a little bit chilly outside. My favorite type of weather. The street filled with people wearing different masks, some placed by themselves while others demons. I can see them, supernatural entities on them., pressing and destroying causing them with varieties of problems. Even though I can remove them by just swinging my hand, I choose not to because they're not my responsibility. I'm not a saint, nothing comes for free.
I didn't take any detours to eat, I just went straight to the coven. It was a massive building that stretched thousands of meters into the sky, to the normal eyes it'll look just like a cathedral but to people like me, It's something ancient, the materials used on it are wooden like in appearance. I don't know where they are from. The whole structure is a relic from the past. There are different type of cravings on it with languages that I can't even decipher. Only a few people here can read it and Adbula was one of them.
At the center of the building stood a giant statue which was carved into the building. Molitha, she was one of the greatest human sorcerers of our time. And among the forces that governed the realm of humans,.she lived for twelve thousand years. Rumor has it that she was alive before civilization began.
I didn't bat an eye to the statue because it reminds me of a face I don't want to see. The hall was still the same as it was years ago. Strange carvings of a synthetic flower on the ceiling stretch to the floor like a root. The hall was brightened up by candles, these candles never burned out. There's not a single light from outside, no windows, the only thing that leads to the human world are the doors. Entering here feels like going to a different dimension. I feel restless and want to get out.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Well, if it isn't the black dove.” A voice from behind echoed across the hall, it's a familiar voice. I hate that voice.
I stopped but didn't look back, the sound of footsteps disturbed the quietness of the place. I'm not ready for this barter right now. Just want to hear what he has to say. It's probably something important.
“You know searching for you was a daunting experience, but Adbula won't take no for an answer. He even tried to get off his bed to go look for you himself. Why all these chaos just for you. The old man could have lived a little bit longer. If he wasn't shortening his life span over you. Always keeping an eye on you, every move you make. Spells you cast, incarnations you chant, everything. He doesn't even go to convents, doesn't care about the workings of the world, all he cares about is you.”
“Why are you telling me all this? Norad.”
“Because I want you to know, it's all your fault. You're the cause of his demise. I don't know what he saw in you, what everyone saw in you. You might be gifted but not that special. Even a first year at cadrge are more stronger than you. Yes we have been studying you, looking at your growth. Nothing improving was found only stagnancy.”
The footsteps were closer, and the person appeared in front of me. I didn't look at his face, it's not worth looking at.
“They're more disappointed than angry at you. Everybody has come back to their senses, wondering what it is they even saw in you. Same with me moilath.” A smile spread across his face, I wasn't looking at him but I know very well his teeths are exposed right now. I looked at the man who is two heads taller than me. Looked him straight in the eyes. His feet left the ground, followed by a grunt. All his limbs were pulled to a fixed point by a force. they might crush each other any moment from.
“You might insult me, ruin my name, and spread rumors about me. And do anything you want but if you ever call me that name! I'll crush you into a paste, put you in a tin can and throw you into the ocean. Your spirit won't leave your body, I'll be make sure it doesn't, I'll make you breath and you'll drown over and over again…” I threw him across the across the room and his impact with the floor echoed throughout the hall.
“ Black dove!” A voice from the other side of the hall, an old voice. I looked at the direction of the voice, an old angry woman. The look of disgust on her face.
“Get in! I don't want anybody to know you are here.” I could hear footsteps approaching. And Norad coughing heavily on the floor.
“Get in now! You rascal.” I followed her to a room. The room smelled of warm honey and milk. It made my stomach grumble. She sat on a chair made out of woven wool. I did the same and sat on a smaller chair.
“I'm not going to lecture you about anything. You are an adult. So I'm going to make this quick, Adbula left a letter for you. That's the only reason you were needed here.” She brought out a letter from the table next to her. The paper was yellow. It felt soft like it could melt on my hand anytime. There was a seal on it, a magical seal that looked familiar.
“We could have opened it. If not for the seal, and it won't let us destroy it.” Her eyes were fixed on me and the letter. You know very well I won't open it here
“We could have destroyed it. But the table were against it.”
The feeling I got from the letter was familiar and distant, something I have long forgotten. It was like a summer breeze of childhood. A smile spread across my face.
“Looking at you alone disgusts me. Moilath, Adbula is gone now. You are wide open, anybody can do whatever they want to do with you. Do you know what the table wanted to do with you? Adbula stopped them but now he's out of the way. They'll come and even if you know they're coming there's nothing you can do about it. How do you even have the blood of Molitha following inside you. Your mother or sister would have been better. And what have you become? An exorcist! Clowning, those types of work are for the fifths in the gutter. I guess it's fitting for you. You should have died and not your mother. I know deep inside you, those thoughts swell up inside you. Let me tell you everybody wishes the same.”
I didn't reply., I know what she's trying to do but I won't let her achieve it. I stared at her, those eyes brightened up by hate. I stood up without saying anything and left the room. On my way out I saw a group of teenage girls, they might be sixteen or over. One of them caught my attention. Her eyes are familiar, same with the face. A face that I know well and hate so much, even though I couldn't see the face properly. I already felt repulsive towards it. I head towards the girls—
LEAVE MOILATH!
It was a voice but I heard it in my mind. They're watching me. I turned the other way and left. The sky gave up the baggage it was holding the very minute I stepped outside. I wasn't wet, not a single drop of rain fell on me nor the paper on my hands. It was baffling because I didn't do anything, then I realized it was the paper. It was emanating magical energy which protected itself and me from the water. A smile spread across my face. Even
in death you still find a way to protect me.
